Cornes voted on the rising star and only gave Curtin two votes, behind Ashcroft and Langford.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but combined with recent comments on Dawson and the Worrell debacle, he’s shown he is too biased for these gigs.
100%. He openly hates us. Built us up this year to tear us down.

Won 18 games, and the team received 93 out of a possible 144 votes.

Make of that what you will. We always seem to cop a lack of votes in a winning side.
Cause we regularly got hammered in the middle and that's where all the votes come from.

Forwards and defenders, areas we were elite at, dont get votes.

I think Curtin got hyped up from a fairly small number of games where he was very good. Outside of that he was reasonably quiet with moments in games. Wasn't an overly strong year for rising star voting.

This award is like the all Australian award, it lost credibility years ago. The fact that arguably the best ever player to play the game in Wayne Carey never won the brownlow tells you something.
Buddy, Matthews, Carey, Ablett snr, Bartlett, Selwood, Pendlebury, Dunstall. Not a Brownlow medal between them.

The AFL has a problem in recognising good players but missing the guys who become the true ornaments. Like so many problems within the archaic organisation, hubris is it's greatest failing.

Irrelevant award now days.

P.s. but congrats to Matt Rowell. This is an attack on the AFL, not your excellent year.

Deserving winner. He was clever and consistent. Good luck to him.

Awesome result for us to have such a talent as Dan Curtin playing for us. His size will make him our best player in a few years. Ceiling is measured in Thilthorpe levels . No less.

Curtin was a very worthy runner up.

Lets be honest here. Whens the last time you can recall a game where an opposition midfielder or defender didnt have a day out, even when we win we struggle to convincingly have the top 3 players on the ground. Its because Nicks game plans are so shit, opposition players can do what they like, when they like and how they like.

Is there anything he hasn’t got his grubby little hands on, he’s worse than everywhere Eddie

It’s pretty poor that he’s involved in AFL awards like AA, Rising Star etc.

He has well known biases (pro Port, con Crows, WB). He’s made a career out of it with rage bait suggestions.

Should have no place making impartial decisions.

But then, if we can’t get impartial decisions from the CEO to the MRO and everything in between, why should some awards matter.

I tend to agree, he took a fair while to get going and then I thought he dropped off a bit towards the end while some of the others got better. He had a great block of games.

If you played SuperCoach and/or AFL Fantasy .....people would realise Rowell was indeed a better chance last night for the Brownlow .....far better than Naicos's season ....and Dawson's (who btw cost me a top 100 finish)

Rowell's back 2/3 of the season were superb & consistent .....a very worthy winner

Naicos realistically only had an average season .....was tagged in many games, and carried injuries
