Mark Riccuito will take it out I reckon. I believe Kouta will not get it. Kouta has Hickmott, Camporeale, Whitnall, Ratten and Bradley who can steal votes off him. Whereas, Riccuito will have very little to contend with, with the Adelaide Crows. Brett Ratten is also within a chance of taking it out. So is Scott West. Shane Woewodin had a good start to the season, but I don't think this year is his year.
Nigel Lappin will make a late charge for votes so it's going to be interesting. But I stick with Riccuito to win the Brownlow.

There are quite a few contenders this year, injuries and form seem to cut down some of the major contenders at times. Quite a few players have had blistering periods, Carey, Barnes, Camporeale among others. However my tip at round 15 (as painfully early as it may be) is probably Koutoufides. As Brucie said quite a few other bluebaggers may pinch votes, but Kouta has been quite outstanding. A couple of smokies, Joel Bowden from Richmond and James Hird.

I think Buckley will!

He has about 12 votes from the 1st 5 games, 3 from the Brisbane game, 3 from the St Kilda game, I possibly more. Thats 18 votes already.

Collingwood will need to win another 5 though, he will need around 25-27 to win I believe.

This is not bias, I am a bomber supporter and don't like the Magpies much!

I think Kouta at this stage. The blues have won a lot of games, so thats a lot of 1st preferences that will go to them. He has been their stand out player.

Essendon have not had 1 stand out player so the votes should be pretty evenly spread thru the team.

Roo is Adelaide's best bet, but is he the sort of player umpires will vote for?

Collingwood won't win enough games so Buckley won't get enough 1st preferences.

Yep kouta for me (grrrrrr). I'd like to see Roo get it but Adelaide have had too many games where no-one would have polled.

For a dark horse maybe Brent Harvey.

Drakey,

How can you say Buckley won't get enough votes cause Coll haven't won much, they won about 5 games last year and he nearly won the medal despite being out for 6 games, this year Coll have won more and he has only missed one game.

Just my opinion.

Outsider: Simon Goodwin, Adelaide

Keep an eye on Paul Haselby from Freo also, since he's been the only player from their team to gain attention from the umpire since he's had quite a few games with over 30 touches, and there is nobody else to 'steal' votes from him in the Fremantle Side apart from Troy Cook

Rewind has raised some valid points whichi I would have reaised but he did. I still consider Buckley a chance but he did have a couple of games where he wasn't as influential, so that might be a problem. However other than Buckley I would have to say Kouta is a strong chance to win it.

Apart from the players already mentioned, Scott West would have to be in with a good chance.

He has had an excellent year and has been arguably the most consistent of all of the players mentioned so far.

Surprised no-one as considered Hirdy either.

Are the media awards generally a good guide to Brownlow form, or are they likely to have different winners? I haven't taken much notice of the comparison in past years and would be interested to know if there is any correlation between them. Has Carey ever won footballer of the year with a media organisation?

I take your point rewind but as you said he ALMOST WON IT.

I usually don't take too much notice of who poles Brownlow votes other than the winner & players from my team.

How many 1st preference votes did Buckley get last year?

hird always shakes hands with the umpires, is nice to them and pats them on the bum before the game

he learned from greg williams, if you want a brownlow suck up, because if they dont like you, you wont win,

Hird for the brownlow

I might be a bit bias here but I think Josh Francou is a good chance to win the Brownlow. He has been Ports best player this year with he ability to clear the ball from ruck duals and to get in and out of packs. He has also won a Magarey Medal at SANFL level which proves he does catch the umpires eye.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the most important factor in winning a Brownlow medal:

Peroxide!

Of the players doing well at the moment, focus on the ones that have dabbled with the bottle!

On this score Scott West - a proven vote getter - would surely have to be favourite.

Someone mentioned Joel Bowden as a smokey. I don't think so as he still has his natural coloured hair. The main smoky from Richmond would have to be Rory Hilton who does appear a little blonder than usual.

Matthew Knights is naturally white haired so should also be in with a show based on current form.

Shane Crawford has reverted back to his natural colour, ruling himself out of contention.

I haven't seen Melbourne go round for a few weeks, so don't know how Woewodin's hair is looking.

Kouta has dabbled with some tips before, but this is not really going far enough to truly catch the eye.

If it appears to be getting tight for West at the end of the season he may consider copying Funky Miller and going with the shock of electric Blue! Now that's gotta get some attention!

DONT BE STUPID.

At this stage of the season I would be putting my money on Nathan Buckley

And my outside chances: Jade Rawlings or Paul Haselby

WHY BE STUPID!! YOU WONT BE WINNING MUCH IN THAT CASE , EVEN IF HE WINS THE MEDAL- UNLESS YOU CHUCK YOUR LIFE SAVINGS OR YOUR HOUSE ON IT.

I WILL CLEAN UP IF J. SMITH WINS OR TOP 3 ILL GET A BIT, BUT AT LEAST HES DECENT ODDS, BUT IF I COULD REVERSE THAT TIP ID HAVE CHUCKED $20 ODD ON FRANCOU AT 100/1 AFTER RD1 OR 2.

THATS 2 GRAND COME SEPT.

Big call on riccuito seeing as his team isnt playing well and hes only played 1 good game this year. He is sadly out of form, and he will need a big turn around to come even close to the brownlow
