maybe in the future, but not this year. He deserved the 2 weeks, AFL got him off because they wanted Carlton in the finals, tonights result is because of their meddling.

You’re talking nonsense.

The AFL didn’t get him off. The AFL suspended him. The AFL review panel then dismissed his appeal of the suspension. Carlton FC then took it to the Supreme Court (in direct opposition to the AFL) and got him off on a legal technicality. By all reports the AFL was pissed off with the outcome and with Carlton for taking it that far. I imagine the AFL is far from happy that he then won the Brownlow tonight.

Few a bit harsh in here.. Cripps was a well-deserved winner imo.

I abhor the fact it’s so midfielder biased. But ultimately he was worthy recipient.

Too many close games and such an even spread, made it difficult for our boys to poll well. Jaicos with 11 off a hbf in his first season is massive though!

Got to love it. Collingwood lose by a point Saturday and Cripps wins the Brownlow by one vote.
* I love Crippa and I love my Club!

Not as good as Carlton losing by a point in round 23 to miss out on finals.

Nothing beats that.

Credit where credit is due. Amazing win by Cripps to cap off a stellar season.

Wrighty should reach out and offer him a Rookie position so he can taste finals action before he retires.

Completely forgot it had been shifted due to the Queen. Hard to find any enthusiasm to get up for it.

Do hope Josh wins GOTY again though
She would’ve been livid with the lack of votes for her beloved Pies.

no Supreme Court. Appeals board Cleared him

Cripps is a worthy winner, good on him. Has always seemed like a good egg too. Would also have been great if Touk won, as many have said.

Looking more generally at the leaderboard and the lack of votes for our players, it really just enforces that the umpires are very poorly placed to judge the award. And fair enough too. They are so busy officiating the game at ground level, they shouldn't be expected to make these sorts of calls. What will stick in their mind at times is a player who constantly has possession of the ball, so you see high possession mids polling consistently well, even though they often have far less impact on the game than lower possession players. For example Darcy Parish in the Anzac Day game. Racked up 7,000 poesssions but by no means was he the 3rd best or 3rd most influential player on the ground.

We'll just continue to have this discussion every year and they won't change anything... I can't see the motivation from the AFL at this point.

Hard to fathom that a side that won 15 games, had a combined total of votes of 63.

The umpires clearly didn’t rate our players in all those tight wins.

16 wins even

Wanted Miller to win. Surprised Cripps polled that well in the back half, but who really cares about the Brownlow?
Cripps should probably not have won it, how he overturned that bump is crazy. I'm with you, I'd rather watch paint dry that a poxy midfielders medal

If individual awards galore and holidays in September are what you like, Carlton is the club for you!

He’s a great player and listening to him speak changed my view on him.
I just assumed he was like those that support his team.
Not an arrogant flog at all - I was wrong.

Many questionable winners over the years. Clearly the umps didn't expect us to do well (and keep doing well) this year. Naicos is basically guaranteed a Brownlow if we become a consistent top 4 threat!

Just amazes me that Carlton fans are so bitter and just can't move on, shows their maturity level I guess. Always searching for something it seems apart from finals football.

Cripps had an amazing year and played well against us round 23. 27 contested and 12 clearances I've got nothing against him polling 3 votes last round. He spoke well, he's had a tough few years with the club and also his body so has done amazing to take home the Charlie.

Except he should have been suspended. This would have to be the most compromised and corrupted competition on the planet.

We finish equal second and poll 12th in voting as a team. How does that happen.
