On Wednesday night/Thursday morning Charlie Rose on Bloomberg TV ( shown on PBS in USA and he works for CBS morning program) interviewed Clive Davis who is a an American record producer and music industry executive who has been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame in the non-performer section.

He was president of Columbia records between 1967 and 1973 before setting up Arista records in 1975. He currently is chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment - Sony took over Columbia Records in the late 1980's. He has recently written a book, his memoirs, The Soundtrack of My Life and has been flogging that, saw him on Fox will Bill O'Reilly a month ago.

He is the bloke that signed Bruce Springsteen to Columbia in 1973. In this interview he talks about Bruce as well as stars he signed and then ones at Arista inc Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Barry Manilow, Patti Smith, Carlos Santana and Whitney Huston to name a few. See more artists at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Davis

It's interesting to hear his take on a young Bruce compared to now believing he is the greatest rock performer in the world. Talks about songwriters a bit and how some artists have great voices but don't have signature songs. He says 80% of his artists write their own songs.

Thanks for the heads up on these vids, they're thoroughly enjoyable...plus I finally spotted myself in the crowd (Melbourne1 @ 12:48)

I'd already sort of forgotten just how much I loved LOHAD on the Sunday..that was my highlight of the night.

Still having withdrawals...this time 2 weeks ago, we were into the final minute or so of Badlands at HR1. Watching those Youtube vids all day isn't helping things either.

Was the same. Watching that Hyde Park BluRay actually helped. Was absolutely epic. Nils is so f-ing cool.

Allow me to mention some great tunes that, to my knowledge, have not been mentioned in the thread (with the likely exception of myself):

Ain't Good Enough for You
It's a Shame
Lion's Den
Trouble River (lol at leaving this off the '92 albums)
The Fever (top 10-er for me, should have been my sign dammit)
Highway 29 ("I said there's no smokin' in the store, ma'am")
Magic (top 10-er)
What Love Can Do (how was this not the first single from WOAD?!)
Life Itself (according to LastFM, is my most listened to Bruce song)
Kingdom of Days (although I do find it very depressing)

Was it just me, or was there a severe lack of Bruuuuuuuuuce-ing at the Aussie shows?

I had an Ain't good enough for you sign at two shows. Love it!

I also tried to keep the Bruuuuuuce-ing alive. Had a couple of foreigners ask me to take a photo for them at HR. I obliged and said "On the count of 3 say Bruuuuuuuce".

Yep two nights I was in the pity there was heaps of Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccceing. The other 3 nights the further away from the pit I was, the less Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccceing per metre further back from the pit.

Bruuuuuuuuuuce-ing was heavy in the pit, especially near the front ;)

That's a good point, I heard heaps for the two I was up front for and not so much for the other two. Although I was very impressed with the people around me at HR2 (on the rail at the front of the seated section behind the pit) who got into it a lot more than I expected. I'm proud to say I Bruuuuuuuuced myself hoarse at my shows, especially the three down in Victoria. Voice didn't recover for a week.

I may have been one of those around you at HR2 (I was also in virtually the same seat for HR1). I was in A2, Row A on both nights and also found the crowd was really into the whole show.

I was in A4, and let's just say my seat wasn't in the front row....or the second, third.... It's ridiculous having seating at an outdoor show. Anyone whinging about not being able to stand or they can't see should have brought a lawn chair and sat right up the back. And there were plenty of old people around whinging to security. Was ultra pissed about not getting a pit ticket for HR2 (especially seeing the kind of ****wits that ended up in there) but then I never would have had my moment of glory during Spirit. :thumbsu: Although the only video on YouTube is from a terrible angle and I'm nowhere to be seen :(

Bobby Jean is so depressing.

Geez, you'd have to be happy with how that has come up, it looks bloody fantastic. I am so very pissed of with myself for not getting a poster. I tried to haggle with the girl at the gate on the way out of HR2 and offered her $20 for one, but she wouldn't budge. I got all self righteous and didn't buy one on principle.....now I haven't been able to source one for less than $40.00.

Cheers bro, yeah very happy. Yeah I got mine during Rosie. Didn't even ask for a poster, kept singing, made the hand motions of a poster with my hands. So glad I got it. Should have got one.

All up cost $210.

Yeah, the ladies behind us were going nuts at security when we told them that we were standing in the front row no matter what. They wanted to sit all night and it wasn't until I told them to jump the seat and join us on the rail, as people were going to come from everywhere and they still wouldn't see sitting down, that they relented. She gave me a big hug and thank you at the end.

I agree with your comments about the pit, as I definitely would have gone in there on both nights if I had known just how small it was going to be and how much spare room there would be. Still happy enough where I was though, as I still got a high five from the man and Bruce sweat all over me.
