This is happening people!!!! Staying up for this :thumbsu: I saw 4 shows on the last tour: 2 arena and the two outdoor shows at Hanging Rock. Wouldn't mind at least one in a huge ****-off stadium this time. Only ever seen AC/DC in a stadium. Also, stadiums = cheaper tickets.

Cruyff14 The Fuse, WTCOOO, Devil's Arcade :thumbsu: Top picks.
Yeah seeems almost certain.

Thanks mate, I know you love The Rising and Magic. 39-30 will be up soon too.

Seems a bit fishy to me. The supposed screenshot from triple m, could have been put together by anyone with some basic Photoshop/web skills. Presale tix next week seems ridiculous with no official announcement yet.

It was 100% on their facebook page, I saved it and uploaded it. It is strange however that it was removed so quickly

I'm very confident we'll know of a tour within the next day - definitely hope so. Pearl Jam and the Boss in a week :)

All that's happened IMO is that TripleM have jumped the media embargo by 24 hours. From my experience in the journalism field (final year student), it's no real biggie and there's no legal consequences.

Assuming these dates will be the start of a new tour (ie. not Wrecking Ball), I wonder if we'll get a stripped-down version of the WB-era E Street Band. All will depend on whatever album he puts out in Nov/Dec I guess (be it: live, new band album, new solo album...). Would love to see Jake as the sole horn.

More horns, the better IMO.

I must admit to somewhat mixed emotions regarding the tour rumors, as I promised myself that I would take long service leave and follow the tour all over the countryside, and possibly overseas, if and when he next toured Australia.

If this rumour is true, which seems reasonably likely, I'll find my plans seriously compromised by through lack of available annual leave and our attempts at saving for a month long Europe trip that we have booked for April next year. My long service leave doesn't come up until May 2015.

I'll get to as many shows as I can and will no doubt have a ball, but I'd much prefer to wait a year or two until we have a new album and the warm fuzzy glow and memories of this year's gigs have faded. I can't but feel that these show's may be anti-climactic to those who enjoyed the RLA and HR gigs as much as a lot of us on this forum did.

Having said that, I do have a credit card with a zero balance that I'll be more than happy to max out with Bruce tix if
required and I'll forget all that other stuff when the lights go down (wherever we may be) and we hear him yell out
" 1 , 2......1 , 2 , 3 , 4".

39) Dancing In The Dark
Album – Born In The USA (1984)
Previous rank

This is weird for me. It’s weird I have it so low considering it’s the song that got me in to Bruce, but at the same time, there are probably other songs below this that I like more than it. I guess I will have to settle with it here.

The song that really shot Bruce to superstardom in the 80s. Also gave Courtney Cox her big break. What’s interesting about Dancing In The Dark is that, when played live, it sounds nothing like the original. The original has 80s written all over it. But when you hear it live, it’s got a more rockier feel, you don’t hear the keyboards/synths as much. Max’s snare is not as pronounced and the guitars are more prominent.

As for the song itself, it’s received a few plaudits. It was Bruce’s firs song to receive regular play time on MTV, it also won him his first Grammy. And I am pretty sure it was played at every show during the WOAD tour. Also played at every show during the BIT USA tour. Definitely a set list staple and you would expect nothing less for the biggest song off BIT USA.

The lyrics may be lost in the music, but that just means you’ll have more fun.

But this is the best version…

38) Darkness On The Edge Of Town
Album: Darkness On The Edge Of Town (1978)
Previous rank – 44 (UP 6)

Firstly, I’ll start by saying this is one Hell of an album. It might be dark, it might be angry, but oh boy, this is one ripper of an album. The album itself would probably be in my top 3, it is just phenomenal. And I think it only has one weak track (Factory), aside from that it is up there with his best work, and some will argue it is his best.

The song itself closes the album. Jon Landau has always said you need to start and finish the album with strong songs. (Badlands opens Darkness and we know how epic that is).

The first time I remember hearing this was on the Live in Barcelona DVD. What impressed me most about it was that massive note that Bruce holds towards the end. I thought it was amazing. I remember counting how long it went for, I think it was 10 seconds.

Like most characters in Darkness, this guy is down in a real rut. He’s lost the love of his life, however, by the third verse; it seems he does not care too much for that.

Bruce has stated this song is best performed live so the audience can generate its intensity. I can see why.

37) My Love Will Not Let You Down
Album: Tracks (1998)
Previous rank: 47 (UP 10)

The first song that opens on the Live In N.Y.C. DVD. I must admit, I had not heard it until I purchased it. But I know as soon as it started, I really liked it.

Max gets the beat rolling then everyone else is involved before you know it. This is intense. It’s got a quick beat. The piano adds a nice element. It’s a great show opener in my opinion. It picks them up and takes them for a ride and has the heart beating and more importantly, the fist pumping. Exactly what you want to start a show. Was excellent to see the band tear through it at Melbourne3. Nils, Bruce and Tom all commanding a presence on stage to take the song out, Max bashing away at his kit like his life depended on it, epic.

The message is fairly straightforward and the lyrics aren’t really too complex. Yet another song that should have been on The River but didn’t make the cut. Speaks volumes.

36) Darlington County
Album: Born In The USA (1984)
*New entry*

When you think of Born In The USA, you don’t really think of Darlington County. It’s a song that doesn’t really fit in with the whole sound of the album, and it sounds like it belongs more on a country rock album by somebody like Keith Urban or something.

It is what I feel is a great road tripping song and would be ripping to listen to cruising down a highway with some friends, the wind blowing through your hair and the sun shining.

Has that fun feel to it, like many songs of this album and is a lot of fun live when Bruce goes for a wander.

35) Murder Incorporated
Album: Live In New York City (2001)
Previous rank: 61 (UP 26)

Finally Murder Inc started getting more recognition on this tour and boy oh boy did it pay off. It is a real belter, pumps you up, would be a great show opener. Would have been right at home on Darkness. Has you rocking from go to woe. Bruce leaves nobody behind on this and you’re taken on a six minute power ride, and there is no time for stopping.

This was initially recorded back in 1982 with the Born In The USA sessions, but did not see an official release until the release of greatest hits in 1995. From the get go it sounds like classic Springsteen. The thud of Max’s drums, followed with the intro of the guitars. The organs feature prominently too.

And for the next six minutes, you feel compelled to tap your foot to the beat and fill with anger, because let’s face it, this song doesn’t exactly put a smile on your face. That’s not to say songs need to have a happy vibe about them to enjoy them. The sax solo feels like it’s just been shoved in for the sake of it. But somehow Bruce managed to make it work. Nils’ wows us with a blistering solo before the bridge and we are treated to one final verse and raspy Bruce belts out a “I could tell you were just frustrated livin with Murder Incoporated.” Bruce struts his stuff and nearly sets his guitar on fire, Stevie throws a punch back (much like the Saint duel at Hammersmith), but Bruce shows why he’s Boss.

This is phenomenal to witness live. I think it went up a whole new level this tour with the outros, shit hot. The sheer power it smacks you across the face with is unbelievable, it’s intense, it’s fiery, it’s powerful, it’s….. Murder Incorporated!

Before you know it that six minutes is up and you still feel full of energy and want to continue the fist up as if you were in the pit, even though you’re sitting down at home.

34) The Promised Land
Album: Darkness On The Edge Of Town (1978)
Previous rank – 31 (Down 3)

And another song from Darkness chimes in to say hello. When I got the Barcelona DVD, this was one of the songs I skipped (shameful looking back on it I know). Then the Hyde Park DVD came out and I gave it a shot. How wrong I was to have skipped it whenver I would watch the Barcelona DVD.

When it was played at Melbourne1 (the second song), the crowd cheered in unison. I was talking to the bloke beside me and he said this was his favourite song, and seeing his eyes light up when Bruce hit those opening notes on the harmonica was great to see.

It’s got that same, broken dream theme that most of the songs on Darkness have in common. Typical blue collar guy going absolutely nowhere in life but he dreams of a better life – The Promised Land.

Working all day in my daddy's garage
Driving all night chasing some mirage
Pretty soon, little girl, I'm gonna take charge

It sounds happy, but you can hear the despair in the lyrics. Props to Bruce for the use of harmonica in this too. The intro is great, not Thunder Road great, but it adds something different to a generally depressing album. And you can’t forget the ‘Blow away’ part when it’s done live. It is spine tingling and at the same time, somewhat breaking. The sax solo tries to lift you up, but at the same time it reminds you that you’re not going to get all the way up with its melody/tone.

The last verse sums it up, if he could have anything, it will be that better life he dreams about.

Well the dogs on Main Street howl, cause they understand
If I could take one moment into my hands
Mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man
And I believe in a promised land

32) Secret Garden
Album: Greatest hits (1995)
Previous rank 25 (down 7)

I remember back in 2006 I was watching Cold Case with my mum and this song was at the end of the episode. I fell instantly in love with it.

To this day, it is still one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Everything is just so soft throughout the song, nothing is in your face. Everything sits on the same level and you can’t help but just soak it all in. The melody from Roy’s piano is perfect, Max’s work on his kit with the brushes add a nice, subtle beat. The notes on the keyboard are repetitive but not boring. Bruce’s vocal work is perfect, the backing vocals from the band just enhance Bruce’s. Clarence’s solo is probably his most beautiful solo. It’s beyond beautiful. That solo can bring tears to my eyes at times. Absolutely amazing.

31) Seaside Bar Song
Album: Tracks (1998)
Previous rank:50 (UP 29)

Yet another addition from Tracks make its way onto my list, seriously, it is full of gold. I didn’t know this even existed until a few years ago when I stumbled across it on YouTube after he played it in Philly. I am very glad I discovered it though, definitely a song that gets a good work out on my speakers.

It’s catchy, it bops along, it gets you smiling. It’s a song that’s appropriate if you’re driving along the coast, or if you’re just chilling at the beach. Or if you’re sitting outside on a summers day. It works anywhere. Most importantly – it’s fun. Got to love the addition of horns too. The breakdown towards the end too is great with the drums. The song just screams summer.

35) Murder Incorporated
Album: Live In New York City (2001)
Previous rank: 61 (UP 26)

Greatest Hits (1995)

35, what a joke. Top 20 material right here. ;) Murder will always have a soft spot in my heart. It was my first sign at a Bruce show, scribbled on a Melbourne visitor's map I picked up from a booth in the CBD on my first ever day in Melbourne while walking to Rod Laver. 27 March 2013. Finished it about 20 mins before show time while waiting in the pit. Was played. Nods of respect from those around me. :thumbsu:

After the last tour, if I never hear Darlington County again, I will be a happy man.

Best version of Secret Garden is from the '95 performance on Letterman IMO.

The images/font used on the TripleM site suggest this will be a continuation of the Wrecking Ball tour. I guess we'll see for sure in Frontier's official press release. Would be awesome if this is a brand new tour and it's starting here. I'd be surprised if he started another tour without putting out new material of some description first.

C'monnnnn Auckland...
