yeah i just went back and read the whole thread :)

also trying to learn the intro of Backstreets on piano, it is indeed epic

Ah nice mate, hope you enjoyed it. :thumbsu:

Did you read all the descriptions?

Firstly Cruyff, thanks for the awesome thread. Kudos to you.

Have been a massive Bruce fan all my life, seen him play every time he has been in Australia

THE BEST live performer I have seen.

Have you put the head phones on and had a listen to The Hitter from the Devils & Dust album?

Springsteen song writing at it's finest.

Captures everything you could write in a novel with an acoustic guitar and a microphone.

Thanks mate.

I just played The Hitter now, never heard it. It's okay, my favourite track from D&D is Maria's Bed, love that track, had I known about before I made the list, it would definitely have featured.

Hard to belive The River missed out...so many song on this list i don't even know

Hard to pick a list...but mine top 10 would go someting like this:

1. Backstreets
2. Born to Run
3. Downbound Train
4. Thunder Road
5. I'm going Down
6. The River
7. Brilliant Disguise
8. Badlands
9. Tenth ave Freeze out
10. Born in the USA

The River, I like it, but it's not great, I don't really listen to it that often. Ties That Bind is the best song off that album IMO, or Drive All Night.

A top 10 without Jungleland, Incident and Rosalita is blasphemous. Have you heard any of those? If you haven't, you're in for a real treat!

BIT USA is nothing but an 80s pop/rock song, it's a very simple song IMO. He has written a million better songs.

I have a great live version of I'm Goin' Down. I'll email it to you if you want it.

PS. I am assuming you received my PM?

The River is awesome, it was written about his sister apparently

I know Jungleland, and it just doesn't do it for me. I do love the sax solo though. I'm not familiar with those other two, I've probably heard them but never really listen to them

True but what a pop song! The song that got me into Bruce when I was 15.

yeah got it thanks!

Yes, The River was about his brother and sister.

Wow, Jungeland does nothing for you, woah. Blasphemy bro! For me, it is the greatest song I have ever heard and probably will ever hear. The song is an absolute masterpiece. The music, the lyrics, the passion, the emotion, all of it.

Incident is great, and Rosie will have you jumping around like a lunatic with a smile from ear to earr 8 minutes.

Good to hear you got the PM, hope you enjoyed it!

Melbournians get down to the Empress Hotel in Carlton tonight to see a Bruce cover band. 8.30-11.30. Tickets are $15.

Was that Thunder Road? They're playing at the Corner Hotel in early March and I'm wondering if they're worth it? Cover bands aren't my thing but when they're playing Springsteen songs I'm willing to give it a shot...

It's time that Jimmy Iovine got back to working with rock superstars, epic sound re: Born To Run (Bruce), Because The Night (Patti Smith) and Damn The Torpedoes (Petty & Heartbreakers)

I hope he includes his version of "I Whip My Haaaair" :D

Another wall of sound song with that string section.

Have I misinterpreted this song? A few posted that this is jingoistic but it sounds ironic to me.

......
From Chicago to New Orleans
From the muscle to the bone
From the shotgun shack to the Super Dome
There ain't no help, the cavalry stayed home
There ain't no one hearing the bugle blowin'

....

Where're the eyes, the eyes with the will to see
Where are the hearts that run over with mercy
Where's the love that has not forsaken me
Where's the work that'll set my hands, my soul free
Where's the spirit that'll reign over me
Where's the promise from sea to shining sea
Where's the promise from sea to shining sea
........

Is this another Born in the USA - is being critical but because of the beat of the tune it appears jingoistic??

Ok so it is ironic. The federal government was useless and the Big Easy had to take care of its own who stuck around. Got it.
