Anyone got the breakdown of what Bruce related things happened during the week on Fallon? I know there was a whole episode with interview/songs, but what else.

This has a pretty good run down.

I watched the full episode last night. Bruce told a great story about going to Dineyland in the 80s with Steve Van Zandt and their wives and girlfriends. Steve was so excited but once inside, they were told they had to remove their bandanas. They refused and were told to leave. Steve was angry for an hour while they drove to a nearby berry farm for lunch and when they got there, they would not let them in with their bandanas on. Bruce told the story well - it suffers in translation to the page.

The performances last night were magnificent. Very strong tracks. Gonna go and get the album today.

If you have ever seen Jon Stewart interview the Boss on his Daily Show or watched his 2009 Kennedy Honours speech that Ford Fairlane linked in post # 354, you will know he is a big fan of his music and the Boss' music has touch him profoundly. He is interviewed the Boss for Rolling Stone and the interview is in next weeks edition.

Jon Stewart Interviews Bruce Springsteen for Rolling Stone

Jon Stewart Interviews Bruce Springsteen for Rolling Stone

When Jon Stewart interviews people that he has overwhelming respect (and love ) for, he cannot hide it. He is just like a kid meeting his hero. Definitely buying the Rolling Stone this month. Thanks for the heads up :thumbsu:

dont care about an australian tour. i'm seeing him in madison square garden in a month:thumbsu:

Bastard.

Nah, enjoy. One of the best at one of the most iconic stadiums on the planet. Soak it up.

Official video for We Take Care of our Own for anyone who hasn't seen it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x8zBzxCwsM&hd=1

I wasn't even aware it had been released til I typed his name in to YouTube just now. Could do without the lyrics plastered over the screen imo.

There's been rumours for the last 12 months of an Oz tour, but I just don't see it as feasable for him. He can play 60 shows a tour to 20,000+ each night, in the northern hemisphere. He wouldn't come down here and play stadiums again, and the Oz demographic for Bruce is (unfortunately) aging and decreasing. I hope for a tour, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't do one.

Nah, not yet mate. Only made it about half way through during a road trip this arvo. My City of Ruins was really good, had goosebumps and the hairs were standing up when Bruce asked "Are we missing anybody?", loved the acknowledgement the crowd gave for Big Man.

From what I've listened to, the new songs rock it live. We Take Care b2b with Wrecking Ball is a great way to start a show, really gets the energy levels up.

Massive Bruce fan. Tied as my favourite artist with The Rolling Stones. Been playing Wrecking Ball constantly over the last few days, fantastic album. Best tracks on there IMO are Rocky Ground, Wrecking Ball, We Take Care of Our Own, and Land of Hope & Dreams. These tracks will go down as Springsteen classics in future years. Just praying that the tour comes to Australia. I was 11 when he came last time and had no idea music existed...The footage of the warm-up gig the other night was just sublime, great setlist and the new tracks work very well live.

For the record, my favourite Springsteen albums are: (probably in this order)

The Rising
Magic
Born to Run
The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle
Darkness of the Edge of Town
Tunnel of Love

Tons of favourite tracks, but here's some of my most-played:

Backstreets, Magic, Downbound Train, One Step Up, Kitty's Back, Spirit in the Night, Lost in the Flood, Adam Raised a Cain, Brilliant Disguise, The Promise, My City of Ruins, Paradise, Last to Die, Let's Be Friends, Soul Driver, Highway Patrolman, Valentine's Day....

Really enjoyed reading through your Top 61, Cruyff14.

No love for Nebraska, Tom Joad and Devils & Dust? Some of his finest!

Cheers mate, appreciate it.

No love for Death To My Hometown?

Valentine's Day is a beautiful track. Have an acoustic of it, so intimate and raw when it's stripped down.

Top 5 albums is too hard, but Born To Run definitely stands above the rest. There isn't a poor song on it.

Good list of most played tracks, although the lack of Jungleland is a little concerning :D

Here's a snippet from the Apollo the other night

3.10 is special.

Great video, thanks mate.

I love Jungleand!!! Goosepbumps every time, especially right at the end of Born to Run. It is in my file of "Songs that are so epic I don't listen to often so they don;t age even a little". I pretty much only listen to it if I play the whole Born to Run album, such a rewarding experience. (Gimme Shelter by the Stones is the only other song in this file)

Death to My Hometown and You've Got It are my favourites of the acoustic/folk songs on the album. I like every song on Wrecking Ball.....except We Are Alive. I think it would have been great if it had have been left off and Land of Hope & Dreams was the closer.

This morning I got an email saying I'm seeing Springsteen tonight at SXSW in Austin Texas - it's a theatre show that seats 2,700.

I'm pretty bloody stoked!

Check out The Boss singing We Gotta Get out of this Place solo on acoustic guitar as part of the 2012 SXSW Music Festival keynote address .

Thanks for the heads up Ford. Enjoyed both film clips.

On his front page he has a link to the Rolling Stones interviews but you only get the intro none of the Q&A with Jon Stewart, so I guess its go buy the magazaine. It's out on the 16th in the US not sure when it's out here, but you can't miss it as the boss is on the cover. See

There are lots of links in and around that story. I found this one the most interesting.

Ten Things To Expect From Bruce Springsteen's Upcoming World Tour

The introduction of the Little Big Man, lots of horns and the ever-present 'Waiting On A Sunny Day'

By Andy Greene
March 14, 2012 12:00 PM ETBruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kick off their world tour on March 18th at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, but they gave a two-hour preview of the show on Friday at the Apollo Theater. With six new members of the E Street Band and a new album to support, it's clear that this tour will likely be very different than previous outings. Here are ten things to expect – though keep in mind that nothing is a lock in Springsteen world. After all, everyone expected public rehearsal shows before this tour – even Little Steven.

1) A more rigid setlist than last time...........

2) Lots of songs that utilize the horn section. It's no coincidence that Springsteen dug out the 1973 rarity "E Street Shuffle" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and the Apollo Theater gig. It's a great showcase for the horns. Expect to hear "10th Avenue Freeze Out" (which doubles as a Clarence tribute) most nights, and hopefully "Kitty's Back" and "So Young And In Love" at select stops. We're also hoping for the title track to Lucky Town. It's an overlooked classic, and it always sounds great with horns.

3) The rise of Jake Clemons. Springsteen may have replaced Clarence Clemons with a five-piece horn section that includes two sax players, but at the Apollo Theater show there was no doubt who was getting the vast majority of the solos. The Little Big Man took the spotlight for "Badlands," "The Promised Land" and "Thunder Road." Jake also handled background vocals on the soul covers, and even played a drum at one point. If they ever break out "Jungleland" he'll have an amazing opportunity to show off his chops.

4) "Waiting On A Sunny Day." .....

5) A new percussionist. When Springsteen and the E Street Band took the stage at the Apollo Theater everybody knew there would be a horn section, but the guy in the back of the stage with the bongos was a complete mystery. Turns out it's Everett Bradley. He's played with everyone from Hall & Oates to Bon Jovi. He did a great job with the end of "E Street Shuffle" at the Apollo, and he'll certainly be a big help with some of the more complex new material.

6) A nightly tribute to Clarence Clemons. Springsteen and the E Street Band went completely dead quiet during Clarence's big moment in "10th Avenue Freeze Out" to let the audience sing it, and cheer wildly for the late saxophonist. It was a nice way to honor him without turing the concert into a memorial service, and it will likely continue in some form on the road.

7) Meet the E Street Sessions Band. As my colleague Brian Hiatt tweeted, "There are so many people in the E Street Band, that like Newt Gingrich's moon colony, it may be eligible to petition for statehood." When they took a bow at the end of the Apollo Theater show, the new line-up of the E Street Band seemed to stretch across the entire stage. This isn't a bad thing, it's just very different than the E Street Band that recorded "Born To Run" – or even the band that reunited in 1999.

8) Say goodbye to the all-request portion of the evening. .......

9) A lot of political songs....

10) Wild stadium shows in the Fall. They haven't announced a single American date after this leg wraps up May 2nd in Newark, but Springsteen is almost certainly going to do a run of select stadium shows in the Fall......... Regardless of where he plays, expect the shows to have a more party-like atmosphere with less emphasis on the new material – so expect more visits from "Rosalita" and less from "Jack Of All Trades."
