Friday mornings Ross and Russ on the 3AW breakfast show open with the Cure’s Friday I’m in Love. I was pleasantly surprised it was followed up with RADIO NOWHERE this morning, apparently Ross hadn’t ever heard the song until this year and can’t stop playing it.

He got a Tee made for charity .. This is Radio Nowhere (front) .. Is there anybody alive out there (back).

Not sure what I would go for …

The screen door slams ..
If she wants to see me ..

Or maybe .. Hold tight to your anger, and don't fall to your fear.

Some mixed early reviews are out. This is one that doesn’t spoil, but reflects on what is becoming the defining classic decade of music of all of them.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Jeremy Strong is outstanding, as is Jeremy Allen White obviously, and Stephen Graham. The "My Father's House" scene was amazing, had a tear in my eye. The romantic aspect wasn't sappy or generic at all, which I was expecting it to be. Overall, a character study in depression, and captures a moment in time about a record of all time. Quite powerful.

Keli Holiday covered I'm on Fire on JJJ Like A Version. It's a banger. He clearly loves The Boss, referred to Nebraska as his bible album.

The Nebraska reissue is very very good.

I was familiar with quite a few of the tracks on the outtakes disc, but Gun In Every Home is new to me. Wow, increible song, pick of the album. Great to have high quality recordings of Losin' Kind and Child Bride, and the early version of Working on the Highway was interesting, I assumed it came much later than Child Bride, rather than both songs being developed concurrently.

Electric Nebraska is probably mislabelled. It is not the full band versions of the Nebraska songs that people speculated on but never really existed. What is it is half that album, plus early versions of USA and Downbound Train with a stripped down version of the E Street band. Atlantic City and Johnny 99 are templates for their later E Street live versions, and are both fantastic. The Ramones paced Downbound Train is also fun, and the previously released version of USA is probably the highlight. The other Nebraska songs are basically the album version with generally non obtrusive backing. Overall, a great listen.

The modern live performance of the album by Bruce with Charlie and former Dylan guitarist Larry Campbell is a pleasant surprise. Although Charlie and Larry are barely audible, it is a really nice performance. I assumed I would mostly listen to only the first two albums in the set, but I can see myself going back to this quite a bit.

The last disc is the original album. Unfortunately it has been mastered quite hot, and the fragility of the source material is not up to it. State Trooper is particularly shrill. Fortunately I still have the vinyl bought back in around 85, so that will continue to my go-to version.

The packaging is really nice, highly recommend the vinyl if you can afford it. If not, stream away. One of the best Bruce reissues ever.

We need a tour.

From Tone Deaf

The legendary musician attended the screening of 'Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere' before taking the stage for an intimate acoustic performance.
Australian fans received promising news, with Springsteen expressing his commitment to visiting the region. "I’m doing my best as we speak to get down there, hopefully next year sometime," he revealed.
"I feel bad. I apologise to my Australian fans for not getting down on this stretch, but I want them to know that we are planning to get down there as soon as feasible, probably in the next year sometime."

Yeah, heard that multiple times over the last 5 years. I do know it was locked in last year (stadiums were even booked) but it fell through. I'm just getting a bit impatient I guess.

I really wish Atlantic City got the Open All Night treatment.

I also like the alternate lyrics in the Electric Nebraska version.

An average 3 star review from the AFR. I think the bloke wanted a happier, more stadium rock hits type movie. There isn't a paywall.

The Australian didn't review it directly on the weekend but has a 2 pager about the movie and Jeremy Allen White. Its behind a paywall and when I used archive.li/ it doesn't have the story and says - This article contains features which are only available in the web version.

Movie was good for a fan to get to see the tortured artist writing/recording process,Everyone else would probably go through ĺife ok not seeing it,Much like Dylan's movie earlier in the year,Enjoyable enough but easily forgotten
