Sweeeeet. Flights sorted, accomodation booked. Just me, the Boss and six days in a state I've never set foot in. BigFooty as a whole talks up Melbourne like it is some kind of utopia, so I'm expecting big things.

I've narrowed my sign options down to: Flood, Arcade, Adam, Train. :thumbsu:

Only a few hours before the Rod Laver show on the 27th. So kiiiiinda need two flights to run reasonably smoothly, although I have four hours in between to pick up any slack. Getting owned by Easter airfares.

I'm staying within walking distance of Rod Laver, so just enough time to check-in, drop all my stuff off and walk back out the door :thumbsu: I must say I'm very impressed by all the transport options available to me (can't wait to ride the tram for some reason) and all the entertainment/food/pubs in the immediate vicinity.

You can walk along the Yarra from Flinders St to Rod Laver too, what I will be doing.

faaark. 212 bucks to see the boss in sydney (and assumedly similar price everywhere else).... that is a sting.

The Eagles were $570.

You're going to be getting a 3 hour+ show. It will be a bargain once it's over.

I would think twice about the eagles if they $57.... not that i dislike them but i can't imagine being the most dynamic of bands on stage.

pretty much universally people are calling bruce springsteen in the best five live acts on the planet. i don't know if i'd consider it a bargain (personal opinion, but there's no band i would consider 200+ a bargain for), but it should certainly be an epic show, and at the end of the day if they put on a show that you'll never forget, in a few weeks down the track you don't even think about the money.

i laugh my ass of when i hear about these "divas" putting in terrible performances, fans coughing up mega bucks and then writing in about how disappointed they are. the fans are just getting taking advantage of, and for the most part they're the sort of fans that deserve to get taken advantage of. the singer has lost interest, most of the people there are only there to set a handful of the big hits.

The video doesn't come up for me. just a black area about twice the size of a normal you tube takes up the length of the screen. What show is it from - might be able to find the video independent of the backstreets embedded video.

Some interesting stories on that backstreets news page. I like the following video, never seen it before, its about 40% of the way down the page. 1988 Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and at the end they had the "Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and the Rock Hall Jam Band (I Can't get no) Satisfaction."

Bruce looks like the 8 year old kid who has just met his favourite ball player. Patti looks excited as well. Lots of other recognisable muso's on stage. But who is the black female singer on the right hand side with the shiny white dress and big split??

The Eagles are professional. While they are completely different to Bruce, their sound is out of this world and it's still a great show, I would not pay that much for them either though.

If you have the money and like Springsteen, the money will well and truly be worth it. Seats are $184.

If these two videos don't sway you, nothing ever will.

Don't worry cruffy i don't need convincing. i was convinced when i didn't bother to get tickets in ireland about 5 years ago (think they were about 80 euros. it's always so much damn cheaper overseas than here :() because i thought 'oooo i only know about 4 of his songs so i can't really justify it' and every one of my mates that went, to a tee, said it was in the best handful of shows they'd seen. since then i've listed to born in the usa and born to run quite a few times (the albums) and he is an amazing artist and i still haven't scratched the surface on any other albums.

i'm definitely not getting seating tickets. standing all the way. i went to watch tame impala a few weeks back and they were even rocking out. i felt on edge being seated for them, let alone how it would feel watching the boss run around like a total mad man.... all you wanna do is just get up and hack around and you can't. i've since resolved that buying seated tickets for a gig will be a desperation move, which i've said a few times before but i always seem to crack at some point. there's only two gigs i've ever been seated and really thoroughly enjoyed - australian pink floyd show (there was genuinely no need to stand up here) and birds of tokyo with a string quartet (which for a fairly maligned band, often fairly cause they should be so much better than they are, was a really good show)

At Christmas a mate who has been based in Toronto for the last 6 years, is the world wide exploration manager for a big gold miner, come home and I caught up with him a couple of times. First time for lunch, maybe 1.5hrs and then at my brother in laws, as my mate put him up for a few days in Toronto mid 2012, and he wanted to return the hospitality. He was there for over an hour with his wife and family, and right at the end of the catch up he said he and his wife were in NY in April 2012 and friends got them tickets to Bruce and band's show at Madison Square Gardens.

I said I didn't know he was a fan. They both said they weren't, didn't have any of his CD's, but they went on about how great the show was. Both said its one of the best concerts they have been to. My mate said he couldn't believe how much energy the Boss had for a 60 year old ( I corrected him and said 62 year old). Said the show went for almost 3.5 hours and even though they knew very few of the songs he played, it didn't matter because the energy of the band captured them for the whole evening. I told him I had tickets to a few shows in Oz and they both said the next time he is in Toronto or if he is travelling and is in the same city as the Boss, he would go again. I was a little pissed of that the 2.5 hours I had with them, we only talked about his MSG concert for about 3 or 4 minutes.
