From a mate in side seats:

'Front pit is going mental. The rest of the house is as dead as a doornail. Get GA if you can'

Pretty disappointing
Ugh. I'm in seats. Better position for photos. But doesn't fill me with confidence for Melbourne though. Barring Prince, Slash, Muse and Coldplay I've never been to an arena gig in Melbourne where the crowd in the seats has gotten really into it.

So, so good! Can't walk properly, my voice is gone, my heads ringing. But, I don't care! Bruce is in top form. Crowd was awesome! Just a ****ing top night all round.

Will have a full run down tomorrow.

11. MURDER INCORPORATED

Our Dr. will be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too ******* right. Could sense it as soon as the drum beat started up, what a ripping live track this is. The perfect arena rock song. That high-pitch squeal he does in the chorus towards the end sent chills down my spine. MUUUUURRRRRRDERRRRRRR INCORRRRRRRRPORATED.

17. APOLLO MEDLEY

Meh song #2. 15/17 ain't bad so far ;)

I loved it. The perfect chance for some more crowd adventuring. When it was introduced I groaned on the inside, but honestly, it was great. Trying to keep track of where Bruce is in the crowd from the seats is tough.

From a mate in side seats:

Unfortunately, this. I was surrounded by old people and they can all GAGF. Two songs in I longed for the pit. And come the 27th and 30th, that's exactly where I'll be. Sorting the queuing procedure for Hanging Rock will be tough.

What a show, just speechless. We Take Care of Our Own and the cover at the start were pretty flat from a crowd point of view. But after that, the energy from the pit could be felt/heard from where I was and I was right into it. The levels of crowd interaction, stories between songs and breakdowns/extended cuts put this right at the top of the concerts I've seen. Every song from them on was a highlight.

Spirit, my favourite Bruce song, was played early in the piece and I couldn't have asked for anything more. The long-winded CAN YOU FEEEEL THE SPIRRRITTT intro and piano noodling set the stage perfectly, and the hard rocking horn intro it has live just has to be felt in person. When Bruce and Jake sat down on the step at the front of the stage and the music stopped, for Bruce to tell Jake that they've been doing this one from before he was born and the acompanied soft sax wailing was magical.

The outro of E-Street Shuffle is so great on record and, now, live. EVERRYYYYBODDDYYYY FORM A LIIIINE.

Jack of All Trades, **** yeah. Just Bruce in front of a sea of darkness and a paino, until the horns start up and Morello adds the finishing touches. Superb.

There were two things that stood out as unique at this show. During the crowd surf in Hungry Heart (fantastic spectator sport in its own right), Jake had to keep the sax solo going to several more bars because Bruce was having trouble getting accross the floor. He picked a shit spot to enter the pit and it took a while for him to build up some speed. His frantic pointing towards the stage when nothing was happening was brilliant.

The other was the start of (I think) Ghost of Tom Joad, where Bruce started the song with the wrong guitar, stopped, threw the guitar into the darkness behind Max, had a new guitar thrown at him, went over to the mic and yelled EMERGENCY!!! And as someone said, Tom Joad was ******* unbelievable. I thought it was Youngstown at first, but when I saw the spotlight on Morello it all clicked and he put on one hell of a guitar performance. Biggest non-hit reception of the night from the crowd.

The usual looooong version of My City of Ruins was so groovy and relaxing, coupled with Bruce's speech about all the different things the song has come to mean. It's one of my favourites, and was one tonight as well.

Horn solos during Wrecking Ball, mind=blown. Sax solo outros to Thunder Road and Dancing in the Dark = woah. Jake Clemons is a ******* star. How this kid has gone from being nobody to slaying 20,000 seat arenas the world over, almost overnight, is amazing. And it's no wonder, what a showman. Like his uncle, he's a perfect foil for Bruce at the front of stage, when it's just those two exchanging riffs or turns at the mic. He always got extra attention and applause from the crowd, and deservedly so. I cannot wait to be up the front in Melbourne, not just to get closer to Bruce, but to really get involved in the cheering for Jake. I want him playing all over the next Bruce album.

Patti didn't show, Bruce said she sent her best, but didn't say why she wasn't there. Suzie more than picked up her slack on acostic and backing vox.

I'm sure there's a few songs I've forgotten, but it's 1am, I'm in an airport terminal and haven't slept in 20 hours.

And then there's Bruce. I was astounded how strong his vocals were for the entire show, didn't let up once and not for a second relied on his backing singers (something I feared at the start of the tour). I didn't notice Cindy or Michelle once except for the intro to the Apollo Medley. His guitar was by far the louded and the energy he was laying on that fretboard reached every inch of the arena.

The show lasted 3 hour and 10 minutes, 7:55 to 11:05. The sound was very clear, if not a little low. The BEC has great acoustics but are wasted when there's old campaigners everywhere.

Was pleased to get: Spirit, Shuffle, Murder Inc, Tom Joad
Hopefully get in my remaining three shows: Kitty, Racing, Flood, Adam. Would have paid anything more just one Magic song. There were no requests or signs taken. I only saw 4-5 signs all gig.

But yeah, get pit tickets. BUT if you're not there early, it's not the end of the world. Bruce is down on the floor every few songs, and the guys at the back of the pit get plenty of face time with the man himself.

****** awesome show. Would do again. Would recommend this to a friend. 10/10, A+. Still buzzing. I didn't see many people filming at all, so not much might pop up on YouTube.

See you blokes in Melbourne on the 27th.

Don't know who is still up but the show started at 7.59 and finished at 11.07 by my watch, didn't leave the Pit, I was about 8m from Tom, 10m from Bruce and 5m when he/they came forward to sing on that small front stage bit and about 3m when Bruce walked the wwalkway part of the stage in front of me. I have some photos and about an hours video. I was behind 3 ruckmen so some footage is a bit dodgy at times as their hands and heads get in the way.

The people like JuddyBuddy who had the green wrist bands got in 10-15 minutes early and took their possies along the stage rail. I was about 4 deep, but I got to the door with about 6 or 8 others so when the door opened I was about the 8th through. I only got there at 4-30 and gates opened at 5-00.

Don't know about other venues but they let me take my water plastic bottle in but took away the cap. I bought another water bottle while waiting outside door 11 but they took the cap away from me at the kiosk.

So tip for other shows. If you want to have some water in the Pit and not have the hassle of an open bottle take some plastic caps from home.

My phone's screen shattered yesterday so I can't really use it for anything other than receiving calls. So I bought myself a digital camera this morning and didn't listen to their "no cameras" rule. I wasn't going to ****en check it in at the counter.

Had to have 2 Coopers Pale Ales after the show by myself to re hydrate, got some merchandise, just made the 11-48 train to Sandgate where I parked my mates car. Somehow got my way back correctly to his place at Clontarf, everyone is asleep, had to have a shower as all the fluid I drank before the show and was worried I would need to go to the toilet, just poured out of me in sweat. I want to put my Bruce CD's on and play them on 11, 12, 13 or 14 and wake up the house and neighbourhood. Its just aftert 1pm and the Adrenaline has kicked in and I'm wide awake. I've lost most of my voice.

The Pit was ****en crazy. It wasn't until about song 20 which I have as Ghost of Tom Joad ( I count 2 soul songs not as 1 Medley) that the people in the stands woke up and started getting up and dancing.

Bugger it when I'm in Sydney and have seats for the first 2 shows, I'm either going to stand and piss people off or ask the security blokes if I can stand in the aisle out of the way. Can't bloody sit down when such great music lifts any normal person out of their chair.

I will go through the songs in another thread but just want to say it was ****en awesome and at least 3 x better than the Rising show I show I saw 10 years ago at the 2nd Brisbane show where i was in a similar Pit closeness to the stage.

17 ****en piece band. the Horn section was a very FAT sound coming out of the 5 boys. Bruce must have done 10 laps of the outside pit/floor area. Every song from song 6 - Hungry Heart to the soul medley, they were an extended dance play version of every song compared to the record versions. That's when it was cranked up to 11, 12 or 13.

I am recharging my camera batteries so will look at some footage and photo's and post about some of the individual songs.

It wasn't a wall of sound, it was a ****en Tsunami.

I have said to mates the best 2 days of sport I have been to were the night of 25th September 2000, at the Olympic Stadium when Freeman won, but as a big athletics fan I saw 9 finals in total saw a great 10,000m mens final, a great 5,000m womens final, Freeman, Johnson win the 400m, Edwards win the triple jump, Tatiana vs Dragila, a shock 110m hurdle win a great women's 800m final and Alekna won the discuss after stuffing up so many big meets. The other big one for me was the 25th of September 2004 being at the G and seeing my team win the big one.

Tonight ranks with those 2 days/nights. Never said that about the 2 shows I saw in 2003.

Cruyff14 he played Thunder Road!!! as his final song before the encore. It ended with the 5 guys in the brass section up front of the stage. It was a fantastic version.

Best version of Murder I have ever heard or seen. Tom Morello absolutely smashed that and the Ghost of Tom Joad.

I reckon because Stevie wasn't there and maybe also Patti, Mr Garry W. Talent was right up front next to Tom
