MAAAAAAAAAAAN, another great night. I ended up on the rail at the front of the "seated" area. During Spirit, Bruce plonked himself down on the rail right in front of me. Rubbing his hair was awesome, hope it makes the DVD. Adam opening, I couldn't believe it, was thrilled.

So Cruyff was one of those people I saw leaving during the encore. Some left the pit during Dancing in the Dark FFS. It made me sick. Firstly, seeing the pit half full for the entire show because clearly not enough tickets were not allocated to pit, and to see total ******** coming and going out of there for the entire show made me cringe. I bet the sight of an empty back half of the pit would be enough to prevent it being released as a DVD, would look terrible.

Also, my return trip to Hanging Rock yesterday cost me a whole $2.10. The bus from Southern Cross station to Sunbury station was free because the bus driver didn't give a **** and was just letting people on. $2.10 train to Woodend from Sunbury. Free shuttle to Hanging Rock. After the show, walked straight on the coach back to Fed Square armed with my wristband from the previous night (same colour, lololol) and my fraudulent email confirmation I whipped up on the computer in the morning. Didn't need either in the end. Ended up sitting next to the girl I'd stood next to for the entire gig who I'd had a nice chat to before the show, from NZ who's just moved to Melbourne at her first ever Bruce show. Said she sacrificed her week's rent just to get a ticket, I was very impressed. And someone who appreciates Magic as much as me. But alas my voice was too ****ed from the three shows this week and my cold was getting worse to try and work some of my Queensland charm. Looked heaps like jpkennedy but with shorter hair. Said she was going home to self-reflect on the experience and have a nice cry. Respect.

I still experienced the whole show at the front anyway ;)

And I heard Rosie when I got my poster which I will frame with my tickets.

There were plenty of people crying during Incident...including myself and my sister standing beside me. The screenshots panned across the barriers at front of the pit and every second person was wiping the tears from their eyes. Magical moment. I saw him grab the sign with Incident on one side and Frankie on the back and was just so rapt when I finally got to hear it live.

I actually wore it to the show on Saturday night, mostly because I was out of clean clothes, haha. I have a feeling that's how it went missing. I know I made it back to my room with it, and I know I didn't sleep in it. That's the last time I saw it. Hmmm. I bet one of those American bitches stole it. :mad:

Still have my favourite (which it appears they don't sell on the net), the black one with the cartoon-looking image of the Born to Run cover with Bruce and Clarence. :hearts:

We just got word, that they finally decided to listen to the unhappy fans in other areas of Australia (who felt forgotten). So they decided to do ONE final surprise show in Hidden Valley near Darwin. Tickets could only be won during a special local radio show hosted about 24 hours prior to the show. No idea how the cell phone reception is up there, but we thought we set up this thread anyway. If you’re there: let us know. Showtime in about 30-60 minutes… If they're on time, that is… ;-)

Fantastic, unforgettable week that finished with the two Hanging Rock shows that were bigger and better than I could have imagined.

I was "seated" in the front row of the A-Reserve area on both nights and was stoked to get a high five from him and get to whack him on the back each time he came down and got amongst the crowd. Had nobody tall on the other side of the barrier in the pit and it was great to be able to scream my lungs out without bothering the person in front of me.

Thought the whole Hanging Rock experience was brilliant and incredibly well organised.

Not knowing what to expect, we arrived really early on Saturday (about 12.30 pm) and were surprised to find bugger all cars in the carpark. We had the esky in the boot of the car and after a quick bite and a coffee, we headed across to Hanging Rock and climbed to the top, where we spent a good hour or so checking out what was going on below. Made a mental note not to arrive so early on the Sunday, as the cars were still coming into the car park at a slow rate at nearly 2pm.

Went back to car park and pulled the chairs, esky and guitar out of the boot and twanged out a bit of Bruce for the next hour while we ate and then went into the venue just as the Rubens were getting going. I thought that they played a great set and it was good to see the crowd getting fired up when Barnesy came on. I've always had a soft spot for him after seeing so many of his brilliant pub gigs in the late 80's and early 90's and while he's obviously aged and the voice isn't quite what it used to be, a good song stands the test of time and he still belted out a great set, helped by a large contingent of very pissed punters in the crowd.

Bruce's gig was sensational. Every single thing he and the band does is so flawless, but done with real passion. It was great to have a couple of other big fans standing beside me and we went nuts the whole night. My wife, a casual fan, could not believe just how good he was and has talked about it ever since (she also couldn't believe how much rubbish was left on the ground at the end ).

Highlight for me was Atlantic City. So many of his "folky" songs take on a life of their own when played with the full band and this is one of the best. Because the Night was brilliant as usual and it was awesome to hear Bruce play the lead instead of Nils. I will also never, ever get sick of seeing TGOTJ with Bruce and Tom.

Sat around a bit stunned after the gig chatting to the bloke beside me and then wandered out to the carpark. Reading reviews of previous concerts at the venue, we were already expecting the carpark chaos and we just sat in the car and listened the to the post match review of the St Kilda v. Gary Ablett game and then started the car. Traffic was still extremely slow moving in the car park until we saw that a couple of cars were heading left near the gate and were heading around the back of the big beer tent behind the hill. Pulled out of the static line of cars and we were out of the venue in 2 minutes. Tucked up in bed back at the place we were renting in Ballarat by 12.30am, which was a very pleasant surprise.

Sunday morning's weather looked terrible when I woke up and the rain didn't stop until were about 20 minutes from the venue. Arrived around 2.00pm and once gain pulled the picnic blanket, chairs, esky and guitar out of the boot and did the same thing as the day before.

I felt that the vibe in the venue was completely different from the day before and the whole place seemed far more subdued. The orange shirted security dudes were far more visible in number and more strict and heavy handed, not allowing us in the front row of seating to stand against the barrier whilst Barnesy was playing. Didn't matter so much for him, as he was heaps worse than the Saturday, but we were starting to get a little worried that they wouldn't let us stand for Bruce. As the time for Bruce to hit the stage drew nearer and more and more of the punters from the back seats were pressing forward, the poor indian security dude in front of was starting to seriously crap himself. We weren't helping by continually telling him that there was no way that we were sitting once Bruce was on. Their supervisor (who was all of about 5 feet tall) proved himself to be a great bloke and advised us to stand up and get against the rail as we would lose our spots to the crowd pressing down from the back. That led to howls of protest from the 2 narks behind us who whined about their sore backs and said that we should sit so they could see. When we told them that Bruce actually walked through this way and that they would be able to touch them, the both vaulted the chairs immediately and no further complaints were heard.

The guy beside me was only there to see Jimmy Barnes and wasn't even interested in Bruce. He asked how long into the show did Barnesy come on stage with Bruce, he wasn't happy with my answer of about 15 songs and he left immediately.

Anyway, it was just another absolutely super show. I didn't stop jumping, screaming and carrying on like a dickhead the whole time. Got completely overwhelmed with Incident on 57th Street and loved that he did Jackson Cage. Some people dismiss The River album, but it has some seriously good songs on it and this is one of them.

Badlands was once again awesome, back in its rightful spot in the set. I feel that it is somewhat wasted as the opening number, and that final set of songs leading up the encore whips everybody into a frenzy. Born in the USA was again amazing live and the encore just as good as ever.

All in all one of the best nights of my life. It was great to share it with my brother, sister and parents, who enjoyed it as much as I did (although they didn't jump around as much as me)

It's bittersweet that it's all over. It's certainly going to be hard to head back to work tomorrow, but I've been left with a ton of memories that will stick with me forever. I've heard a heap of my favourite ever songs played brilliantly by a band who have been right at the top of their game for the whole tour. I feel so lucky to have experienced the whole thing.

Can't wait for the next album and next tour.

I definitely thought Badlands was far more intense when played later in the set, especially Wednesday and Sunday night.

Born to Run was massive on Tuesday night and Wednesday was one of the highlights of my week, standing arm in arm with my 9yo son (he was standing on his seat) and punching the air to "tramps like us".

I agree, they did get better and better as the week went on.

Oh, and one more thing, on Saturday when Bruce picked up that bunch of signs after only the third or fourth song, one was 'Further On Up the Road' and didn't get played :mad: Would have been epic.
 
For the record, this is how I rank the shows I saw (all were unbelievably good):

Rod Laver 3
Hanging Rock 2
Brisbane 1
Hanging Rock 1

Not really sure why. I suspect B1 and HR1 should be the other way around, hard to judge when you're 3m away for one and 50m away for another. I'm finally home and am now working my way through all the other shows on YouTube; Blinded by the Light acoustic and the extra dancer with Jake during DITD tell me there's plenty more epic shit to see from all the middle shows I missed. I'll never get sick of the drawn-out intro to Spirit, which seems to differ slightly from show to show which is cool.
 
Saw The Boss in Melbourne last week - incredible. One of the best!

Pity he ditched Born In The USA, Thunder Road, Glory Days at my show though.
