The organ in the Live in NYC version is great. Version from Albany last year is good too, love Steve's backing vocals on the 'muuuuuuuuuurderrrrrr' harmony.

Yeah, pretty interesting conundrum. I'm convinced the only way he'll be back here is if he does another solo acoustic tour. And with age becoming a factor when it comes to doing massive ESB tours, it certainly doesn't diminish one's ability to do an acoustic show on their own. There is hope.

Hopefully the turn-around this time is similar to the Magic/Working on a Dream era, which were essentially the same tour. I've got some travel plans for next year once I finish uni, so that would be perfect. But I seriously doubt he'd take less than a year off between tours this time around.

Oh, and I've re-read Clarence's book over the last week - the last few chapters are hauntingly foreshadowing. :(But the chapter about Jake is just brilliant, the clues were all there. :thumbsu:

Unless he releases a really solid album early/mid next year and tours by 2015 I doubt he will tour again with either the other 16 from the current ESB or back to the other 8 or 9 from the ESB. It will probably be a solo tour if he makes it back.

I'm starting to plan for 2014 shows in the USA. I want to go the World cup in Brazil next year with a mate and his friend. I'm thinking of coming home via the USA and trying to catch a show hopefully at Madsion Square Garden or the new Meadowlands stadium to watching him on his home ground. If not anywhere else will do.
 
Jake's EP is solid, interesting that there's no sax on it anywhere. It is, on the other hand, very nice folky/garage rock. Ironic, now that 99% of his fans now know him because of his sax playing with the ESB. He's hit the jackpot now, probably set for life after this tour, and any subsequent tours as the lone horn player will be a massive bonus. I guess now he's free to make the music he wants in his downtime, sax or no sax. Just as long as he's all over the next Bruce album.

It's nearly impossible to envisage another tour where everything could align so perfectly to re-produce what we have witnessed over the past few weeks. There were so many variables that combined to make this tour so memorable, and these included personal factors such as being able to take my son, my wife and my parents to various shows and share the experience with them. It also felt great to feel like a starstruck teenager again for a week or so and to able to forget about work, the mortgage and the other stresses and crap that can affect your normal life and go completely nuts for a few days.

Having said that, I really would like to see him again..and again...and again.
 
Freaking out about my operation tomorrow. Listening to Bruce in the hope it'll calm me down. Guys if I die, please tell Bruce (and Tom) how much I love them and how much the last few weeks changed my life for the better, and how fvcking happy I was to see them both! :thumbsu: :hearts:

I can so relate to this.

On Friday I popped into Port Adelaide FC to pick up my members jacket and spoke to the Commercial Operations GM. We had a chat, a catch up after 5 months, about a few things re the club but the conversation inevitably turned to my Springsteen Odyssey. I don't know where it came from but I said after the last 2 footy seasons for our club and the hurdles I've had with getting funding for my technology group, which keeps getting stalled, I said I needed something to nourish my soul. That's how I feel about seeing him and the band over 3 locations and 5 shows. On Sunday I also thought of what John Stewart said in his speech for Bruce at the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors.

Each year the Kennedy Center honours 5 people/groups from the performing arts who have had a major impact on American life. ( Last year they honoured Led Zepplin despite being a British group). Bruce shared the honour with Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro, jazz pianist and composer David Brubeck and opera singer Grace Bumbry. The Honoree doesn't perform but others perform their work.

Country singer Jennifer Nettles covered Glory Days then joined Ben Harper on I'm on Fire.

John Mellancamp Born in the USA half acoustic guitar then full band.
Melissa Etheridge sang Born to Run

When Obama presented Bruce with the Kennedy Center Honors award in 2009 at the White house he quoted Bruce - "I've always believed that people listen to your music not to find out about you, but to find out about themselves."

I think I experienced that as well.

Found The Roxy show in LA from 7-7-78. The bloke from Perth I meet at the 1st Brisbane show, told me has visited the club and that it only holds about 500 people. re-listening to the show you can tell how intimate it is with the audience.

I wish he'd played For You at one of his shows, I love the version from the Roxy.




The bloke who put that has a couple of You Tube channels with hundreds of full concerts. The second one has all 3 Rod Laver shows, the 1st Brisbane and the 1st Sydney in his first 10 concerts of 130

Is Damon, I ask him in Berlin, a fan of Springsteen? It turns out to be a lucky guess, made only because his new film is called Promised Land – the name of a track from the 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town – and by the fact there is a memorable scene in the movie where Damon's co-star John Krasinski sings a karaoke version of the song "Dancing in the Dark".
"Uh-huh, huge," says Damon. "Springsteen's a god in my eyes." There then follows a few minutes where Damon picks his way excitedly through Springsteen's recent oeuvre: The Rising ("a masterpiece"), Magic ("such an intelligent takedown of the Bush administration"), and culminating with last year's Wrecking Ball, which reached number one in both the UK and the US. It is an intensely political record that shines a harsh light on the American dream, with music inspired by the Civil War and the Dust Bowl. "It doesn't feel like an act," Damon muses. "It doesn't feel like he's trying to pretend that he still has the common touch. I think he believes what he believes, and that's very real."
He continues: "I do view this movie, Promised Land, as the visual expression of his last album. It's actually eerily similar. I hadn't heard the album before we wrote the script, but John Krasinski and I went to hear him in Madison Square Garden at the first show that he did of Wrecking Ball and he played the album and I went: '****! That's the movie!' I went back to see him afterwards and he asked: 'What are you working on?' And I said: 'It's like the movie version of your new album.' And he goes: 'What the **** does that mean?' I agree. After blowing off the cobwebs on the Sunday night and having a great time on Tuesday, it felt like Wednesday was a bit more intense and hardcore. Having Youngstown, LITF, Murder Inc and Jungleland gave it a real kick. Loved Long walk Home as the opener.

Not quite perfect though..still would have liked Backstreets.

Backstreets would have made the show beyond perfect.

It was a darn good show, I had a feeling we would get Jungleland after Flood and the Candy/Youngstown/Murder Inc trio.
