Hanging Rock 2 was my only show last tour and me and a mate wandered in to the front GA for the start of Jimmy Barnes and were about 15m away. People only 5m in front of us had been there for 4 hours. Don't stress.

Yeah I don't know what that is and most likely no.
I don't really want to be on my feet waiting around for multiple hours before the great man even begins playing (for multiple hours).

I didn't do any of this roll call rubbish last time, and was less than 3m from the stage at the two shows I was in the pit. I rocked up about 30 minutes before gates open and was extremely happy with my spot. Would do again. Seeing fat bishes in t-shirts seven sizes too small almost dying of exhaustion after queuing for hours was hilarious at Hanging Rock.

If you want to be on the rail of the front stage you probably have to get there by 9am the day of the concert. If you get there about 1pm you will be no more than 4 or 5 deep from the stage. Cut off is usually 3pm to let that lot in 15-20 minutes or so before the rest of the pit and its pretty controlled walking in to take your possie. Get there after 3pm and you will either be 7 or 8 deep to say 30 deep. no bad places in the pit, because if you are at the back you get to say g'day and shake his hand when he does his laps. The range of spots is - an absolutely ****en awesome spot - to a very good one in the pit. The hunters and collectors show and dan saltan shows you might want to get there a bit earlier as they will start maybe 90 minutes before Bruce gets on stage so they will let people into the pit 90 minutes earlier than normal.
Oh you meant the line up number?
Not doing that stuff. Like I said, got to Hanging Rock at 2.30 last time. Three hours, two pisses and numerous beers later we strolled in and got in the same relative position as people who had been standing there since 10am.
That's the beauty of the front GA.

The atmosphere up the front of the pit is unbelievable. I doubt it would be the same anywhere else. When Badlands comes on and you're near the front, everyone goes batshit mental.

That's what I'm saying. I was right up the front, 3rd or 4th from the stage. No lack of atmosphere where I was, and I got there just in time for the gates opening.
Actually had my highlight of the tour from the front "seating" (ie. right on the rail at the back of the pit), when Bruce camped himself down on the rail during Spirit at HR2 right in my lap. Spewing that I can't see myself on the video of it on YouTube
Having said that, I might give the roll call a try this time. I'll be between overseas trips and will have nothing else to do, haha.

Seats are shit. No one around you wants to stand up and it's just lame. Even if you get pit tickets and are the last person to arrive, you will have a fantastic view and you will be in the best spot when Bruce does his laps of the pit to get closer to the back of the arena. There's plenty of room to move around at the back as well. You wouldn't miss anything, and would have a much better time than anywhere in the seats.

Roll calls are fun, you get to meet other fans. I have so many Bruce Buds on FB.

I walked into Rod Laver at 7.20 (7.30 was scheduled start time), was a bit further back than halfway in the pit but it was still so close. I might do roll call for a couple of gigs, given I'm doing the tour. But probably not all. Maybe. We'll see.

Bruce fans - from USA organise who gets in when in the pit. Its all unofficial. You get a number from the yank guys who organised this and when I lined up in Sydney, they were in the 30's so they don't jump the queue even though they could. Basically they give everyone a number and at approx 9am, 12am and 3am they do a roll call and call out your name and number to see you are still going. you can piss off in between roll calls and go eat, go to toilet, do some work etc. You can't get into the restricted area once they do the final roll call. Then about an hour maybe 90 minutes before the show they organise the crowd in number order and then there is a slow cattle crawl thru the stadium to the pit area in an orderly process so that numbers 1,2,3 and 4 if the so desire will get right in the middle front bit of stage that juts out.
Its a little strange, but its an honour system to let those who got their earliest get the best possies and not have to spend 10-15 hours queuing up and staying in the same spot in the queue. Bruce's staff and venue security acknowledge it.
Bruce also likes it because he knows all the nutcases will be up front and he can feed off them rather than have the corporate types up front who don't really know his stuff, like the 2003 tour of Oz.
