I like a few of The River tracks quite a lot - Ties (in my top 10), Jackson Cage (only recently, but really like it), I'm A Rocker, Drive All Night, Out In The Street, The River, HH, Two Hearts.

But as we both said, some stuff on there is really bad and should never have been on there.

How Loose Ends was left off is baffling.
Do you like Point Blank?... It's too many pages back in this thread for me to check where it rated in you countdown. I love it..second favourite River track after Ties.

From Set lists this is the number of times Bruce has played each song from the Album. The bolded songs are the ones I have seen him play at the 10 concerts he's done with the Estreet band that I have watched. I understand he wouldn't want to do the full album and I'm prepared to miss out on Out in the street but I want to see/hear Cadillac Ranch, Sherry Darling, Independence Day, Point Blank, Wreck on the Highway, Drive all Night and Fade Away as a minimum if its a The River tour!!

Why has Bruce played Fade Away so few times?? Has he ever said why? He has played it 41 times on this tour and a whopping 25 times between 1980 and end of 2015!

I know Stevie is a big fan of it and does beautiful harmonies on it in the versions I have seen on videos. The last of those 25 times was in Brisbane in 2014.

Nope.
Never really did much for me.

Fair enough.
Lucky I didn't go back and check your list then...obviously wouldn't have found it.

Thats the good thing about Bruce...lots of stuff for everybody!

I still remember our Downbound Train discussion of 3 years ago.

I do vaguely.... refresh my memory?

What a ripping track. That opening is a killer! Best song on BIT USA by a country mile.

You had it way, way high up on your list.
I said that it was too high and that it was a dumb, boring song.
You said that I was wrong.
I said that i wasn't.
You said that that I was most certainly wrong
I said that I really, really wasn't

and then

I learned how to play it on guitar (it's dead easy!)
then
Bruce played it at the RLA2 show.
and I thought
maybe you might be right.
You said
I told you so.

btw. Bobby Jean in the best BITUSA song.

Hahaha.

Nah DT blows it well out of the water for me.

can I urge people to download the stripped down version of 'born in the usa' that bruce first put out-better or just as good as the end product it is sensational

I'm also not all that keen on the 12 string twangy, slidey version, OR the stripped down, dull version on Tracks OR the final, polished cut that came out on on BITUSA.

However, I do really, really love the song live, where Max really gives it everything and in the early days, Bruce's guitar solo seemed to be far more intense when played live. The Live in Barcelona 2002 DVD (for Max) and the Human Rights Amnesty International Concert in 1988 (for Bruce's solo) are both awesome versions of BITUSA. I also really like the guitar solo on the Live 75-85 cut....actually I love the whole song on Live 75-85. It's a cracker.

It's still a long, long way from being his top tune though.

3 hour 52 minute show in New Jersey last night:eek:. Longest ever U.S show apparently.
Haha I happened to fall asleep on the couch the other night, bit of Olympic sleep patterns left over, woke up TV still on and NBC Today show was on and about 60 seconds after I did, they had a short story on his record breaking US length show.

I can't remember if these have been posted before but the last couple of days these 2 doco's the Ties one, and a BBC one from late 1990's has appeared on the front of my You Tube home page. So did the insert the ss thing into the URL ie www.ssyoutube.... and downloaded them to my hard drive

Love the start of the BBC one and playing his older rocker song of TV Movie

I woke up last night shaking from a dream
Fot in that dream I died
My wife rolled over and told me
That my life would be immortalized
Not in some major motion picture
Or great American novel, you see
No, they're gonna make a TV movie out of me

CHORUS
Well now, it's one two three you take the money
Yeah it's as easy as A B C
Yeah they're gonna make a TV movie out of me

Think he already broke that record last night 3 hours 59.

:thumbsu:

That is freakin' awesome!

The bloke singing along was annoying the shit out of me....but I would have been doing exactly the same thing, but louder.

It's a truly brilliant tune.
Didn't mind it at all, I barely noticed it. Pure passion, and like you said, we'd all be doing it.

It's a song that needs to be sung.
