I know Ted quite well, he'd be nearing 500 shows.

Danny has done more than Ted.

Hotel California and AC/DC's Back in Black were mine.

With BITUSA, I had only heard Dancing in the Dark once or twice before I bought the BITUSA cassette. I could not wait to whack it into my little Sanyo tape player and when I first heard the opening lines of the title track, I was completely blown away. It was unlike anything I had heard from him before and I reckon I rewound the tape and played Born in the USA 6-7 times before I listened to anything else of the album.

33 years ago now.

I can take or leave it these days if i hear it on the radio, but I sure do love it live.

Thats what I thought but tonight when I asked him if he had hit 500 shows yet he said no and that Ted had done more shows than him and must be close to 500. I asked if he was still running bars that played music acts and he said yes but a couple of years ago moved from NY to Boston. He saw all 3 shows in Perth. Ted saw the last 2.
 
BITUSA I reckon is the song that you get fully drumming power from Max, even without the big solo he usually does, but the solo is huge.

I have heard She's the One twice in the pit and both times I have felt Max's bass drumming on the bottom of my neck/high up on my chest. Cant explain why but I felt the sound waves hit me.

I know what you mean.

The heaviest song I've ever heard live - in terms of how it drove through my bones and shook my core - was Adam Raised A Cain at Hanging Rock in 2013. It was otherworldly.

It is a great guitar song for sure. The version on the Paramour theatre 30th Anniversary run through of Darkness on the edge of town is simply outstanding. In fact that entire performance is as good as Springsteen gets.

Ok if you want to brush up, then you need to learn these classics if you don't know them well. Looks like all the shows will start with New York City Serenade unless he can't find a string section in your city. This was from Brisbane 2014 beautifully shot by TheAussieMusicMan who took several great videos over the 2013 and 2014 tour. The band opened the show with Bruce's version of Stayin' Alive as a homage to ex Brisbane boys the Bee Bees and it had the string section. That's on you tube to watch.




Then from the same album The Wild The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle and same side ie B you have Incident on 57th Street. Once again beautifully shot by TheAussieMusicMan from Hanging Rock show 2 in 2013. It's his 8 minute version of West Side Story, IMO.

As I wrote in my review of the show a few days later - "I was in Row S of the seats so about 15m back from where the seats started and about 35m from Bruce and the main stage. When Incident was played on Sunday Night I made a deliberate effort for about 30 seconds to look at the crowd all around me - took a 360 degree look and probably looked at 1,000 people. You could tell that many, ie the majority didn't know the song, but the majesty of the words and the brilliance of the music had them totally focused on the stage as Bruce had them wrapped up in the palm of his hands."



And if you don't know Rosalita also from side B of that album - 3 songs that go for about 25 minutes there but 30 on stage, (all written at 24 years of age), then you gotta learn this one just in case. You can find all words to his songs at

There is lots of videos from this song performed in Oz concerts, but this version I first saw in 1980/81 is still my favourite. From the 1978 Phoenix concert, the day after he did that great show at the Roxy in LA where 8 of the first 11 songs in his 40 song Live 1975-85 box set comes from. There is a link to that show on You Tube - audio only.

According to the seating chart, it's the whole front half of the floor. Last time it was about a quarter. I wonder if the AEC will bring it forward if there aren't as many tickets sold as anticipated?

It was around 180 - final count I think, for the first Bruce show in 2014 and about 220 for the 2nd show. In 2013 in Sydney 3rd show, I got to roll call at midday on the day of show and got 160 odd and about 50 ended up behind me before they put the gate up at 4pm. Didnt do the roll call for Brisbane 2013 but was about 10m from stage and could almost touch him when he walked onto the small stage that jutted into the crowd. All other shows I have been in a seat.

10:30pm roll call is less than handy for responsible parents..... Lolz.
