And there in lies the issue regarding his health issues. Rest of 2025 tours Europe 2-3 years off; might do an album night not Are we really thinking someone approaching 80 is going to do another World Tour in 2028/29? Probably..lolz Last time I saw Kris Kristofferson was so bittersweet...

... I thought you had done a top 20 after the year 2000 also.

My personal take on that magic night...

11 years today since the infamous never released show here in my hometown.

It was warm that day, high 20s from memory. It seemed like a very long wait in that hot, February sun, waiting for it to shade over before the band finally hit the stage. When Bruce did hit the stage, it was late, and he was verrrrry hungover from partying the night before. He waltzed out and said "I'm late for my own show!", and then shit got real. He opened with - and what I maintain is the best song to open a show - Born in the USA. It was so ****ing powerful. The crowd erupted and I still get chills when I watch the video back to this day


Most of us up front in the pit heard by about 3pm it was BTR from top to bottom which really sent excitement levels through the roof for those with great numbers. Into a ****ing powerful trio of Badlands, Lucky Town and Roulette - the latter two being tour debuts mind you -



things weren't slowing down.... until we hit Growin' Up, where he parked his ass on that stage and told an eight minute story. It was wonderful and I believe Robin Bridge has footage of it. The next big surprise of the night - after already three tour premieres - was a shit-hot fire rendition of Lost in the Flood after some regular programming in between. It was played with the anger and intensity it deserves



BTR was the crown jewel of this show though - as we all expected. From the opening notes of Thunder Road (linked below), the atmosphere of the show changed and everything felt even more magical. From my own personal experience, I knew I would finally hear my favourite song of all time in Backstreets (even if I did blubber like a big baby the whole way through the intro).



We got an extended Jungleland solo - I believe in honour of Jake's father who died not long before the show.



After BTR ended, the show followed a similar course for the most part, but we did get a wonderful rendition of We Are Alive. His voice is kinda hoarse/rough throughout but it worked SO well. A shame this was never officially released - due to Bruce not liking his voice is the rumour - but I am so glad I was there. It's the best show I've seen, and I doubt I'll see a better one.

I could only go to one of those shows which was the Saturday night when they played Born In The USA in full. I didn't really enjoy it to be honest. I was a million miles back from the stage, and everyone around me was just talking and clearly weren't fans. I definitely picked the wrong show to go to! :mad:
 
I'm flicking tonight and get to 7 and Australian Idol is on and I see Jake the county/country pop/rock singer doing Stayin' Alive and I see there are strings, think 3 violinists and see he has borrowed heavily off the Boss' version in Brisbane in February 2014 show where he opens with it, as his homage to Brisbane boys The Bee Gees.

I wait to see if the judges say anything about copying Bruce - but nothing, all say the way he interprets and countrifies songs ( his initial audition was a country version of Bohemian Rhapsody) and Jake says nothing about where he got the idea from.

Have a look for yourself and see how much he has copied. The Idol guys get 2 minutes to sing a song once they get to the final 21, this week its the final 12, as they only usually get 90 seconds. Same on The Voice.

Bruce's version is 6 minutes so its not a straight copy, no Brass section and no Tom Morello guitar blearing, but its a copy. Here is about 1 minute of Jake's 2 minute version.
