Bryce Gibbs a Squib?

He looked good yesterday. Didn't get too much of it from what I remember, but uses the ball very well. His goal was very nice. Will obviously be a very good player, but has the potential to be a star, just a question of whether he will fulfil it.

He isn't a squib, he's had his moments of being soft, as have most players. It's just that some people dwell on some players' soft moments more than others.... ridiculous.

Maybe he has turned the corner. However, the real acid test will come when the Blues meet the Saints later on in the year and Sqiubs comes head to head, with that man mountain, Stephen Milne.

Why come on here saying shit like that? I hate to tell you but Pendlebury has probably squibbed a contest as many times as Gibbs. It doesn't make them soft, it's all a learning curve, because they've both done the hard stuff many times, so we know they can do it.

bryce gibbs = squib and marc murphy is set to challenge brendan goddard for the most useless number one pick ever in the history of afl draft
Did you see Gibbs throw himself into the bottom of a pack in South Africa last week?

Or baulk Headland on the mark in their forwardline and follow up his fifty metre kick to get the ball back? :thumbsu:

Goddard is a gun and would be in your best 22 ahead of Clarke as a quarterback who can drill it fifty off one step. Or he'd play as a lead up forward in your front half ahead of Rusling and Reid who can't kick as well as Goddard.

Rusling, Cloke and Reid can't do this with their flawless kicking ;)

Love that goal.

Pound for pound, Kade Simpson is harder than Thomas and as good a player when he only cost us pick 45. :)

Thomas is as hard as they come for someone his size.

:thumbsu:
Ha! You make me laugh so hard...

I could name at least 20 players that go into contests harder than Thomas, Bryce included.

Why come on here talking up Carlton players. Surely that's for their supporters to do. I think your loyalty may be at question. Just because Squibs put his head over the ball once last night against a B grade Port Power side, doesn't mean the thought of Stephen Milne in a dark alley hase ceased to give him nightmares.

Because I know a talented footy player when I see one. And for me to express that, I have to do it on the Carlton board... because.. you see.... he plays for Carlton. Understand?

If I don't like one of their players, I keep it to myself or talk about it on the Collingwood board, I don't come on here trolling.

And yeah, my loyalty is really at question because I said Gibbs isn't a "squib". Good one ********.

God, you're as one eyed as they come aren't you?

I see someone can't hack the thought of Carlton potentially being the better side...:).

And you wonder why people call Gibbs soft? People like you don't watch Thomas play, you just go along with the "soft" bandwagon. He isn't soft, and neither is Gibbs. Thomas always throws his body in, always gets the hard ball (4th at the club last year), always goes back with the flight. I'm not going to go through it all again though, because you've clearly got no clue, and will just start spouting of shit like "you make me laugh, he is so soft", "you have no idea, he is as a soft as butter". If it helps you sleep at night. :thumbsu:

You can go ahead and make all the accusation that you like about myself not watching any other footy than what Carlton are involved in.

Dales hard ball gets usually come from one on one contests, not neccissarily pack contests, and where as he may not be 'soft' as such, he could utalise his potential a whole lot more.

Honestly, I couldn't give two shits what other say about anyone, as I usually go against other opinions UNLESS I honestly beleive what they are saying. People beleive Gibbs is soft, so be it. People beleive Thomas is soft, so be it. Everyone has different opinions and nothing there's nothing that you nor any other supporter can say to change my personal opinions on various players.

Which is fine, but the whole idea of a forum is to discuss things - which can result in open minded people changing their opinions.

No matter what Gibbs may achieve in his career, there will always be some mindless ******* that points the finger at the Milne footage. Sad, but true

Think I remember seeing some footage of Cameron Ling when he first started kicking a ball out on the full from the top of the square. I think most teams in the league would jump at the opportunity to get someone like him into their side.

Gibbsy will be a fantastic player.

In March 2010 Gibbo will turn 21. He will hopefully have just completed his 3rd full pre-season and should have 50 to 60 games under his belt. From then on I have no doubt he will become the next Nathan Buckley and be a standout AFL footballer.

Having just turned 19 a few days ago he is already a cut above anyone else his age playing AFL football.

Isn't his birthday in March?

Cheers mate. An eloquent, open-minded supporter of any team is welcome here. Excuse my fellow Carlton posters. Think you may have shocked them with your clarity and compliments towards BG.

Im with you mate......Thomas is far from soft........ecpecially in the air........to have gone out there and get involved and compete as hard as he has with that skinny body shows enough courage IMO.

If Thomas is a squib, Bradley was a squib. Any one who plays AFL needs a certain level of courage. Some are recklessly courageous - Hunter, Riewoldt, Archer. Others play through incredible pain - Brererton, Harvey, Kelly.

Anyone out there knows they are at all times open to big hits, snapped tendons & ligaments, agonizing corks, broken bones and potentially career ending, even life-threatening head injuries.

Players whose orbit seems to be more on the fringes of packs are every bit as integral as those shovelling the ball out to them. We just think they are soft because their skills don't always include the "digger in the trenches" stuff. It's bullshit.
