I know this sounds silly but does anyone have any inside info on who Carlton are leaning towards taking in the draft? I can't take the suspense. I'm really hoping for Gibbs. With him in the side and Ratten as an assistant coach we could have one of the best midfields in the comp in a few years. Taking him is pivotal to our future.

Carlton coach Denis Pagan has reaffirmed that the club will use it's No.1 pick at next month's NAB AFL Draft on "the most talented" player, regardless of the type of player or where he hails from.

Why else will Pagan say where they hail from obvisouly he is reffering to Gibbs.

What! So only 1 player has nominated for the National Draft. Dammit I was hoping to use our pick number 2 to draft some one.
no need to be a smart ass... not liturally, liturally i meant that carltons best choice would have to be gibbs

Agree with Cypher

Blues recruiting manager Wayne Hughes said that, while the club already had settled on selecting Marc Murphy this time last year, he had more work to do this time.

"Last year, it was a pretty even group, but we obviously pursued Marc fairly hard once it was clear he wanted to stay here in Melbourne. We needed to commit to that because we knew he wouldn't last until our second pick," Hughes said.

"This year is a bit different. It's fair to say it's very difficult. There's four players who have been talked about, and have been right up there, and Joel Selwood is the other one we're looking very closely at.

Based on what?
based on what ive heard and ive seen of the top 2-3 choices
and logic of course.

Ive heard gibbs and burga are top 2 and hansen is the 2nd best midfielder in the draft.

Ive seen there stats(weight height), i like gibbs being a tall centreman, like burga 2.
Ive seen burga hansen and gibbs clips and gibbs is the clear standout.

and logic is that burga will take time.
Hansen isnt fully developed
and gibbs is almost ready made

Where have you heard Gibbs and Leunberger are top 2?

Since when is Hansen a midfielder?

How can you base your opinion on viewings of clips? Surely you need to have watched them numerous times to know who will end up the better player.

Why should it matter whether the draftee is ready made or not? We're not drafting them to perform next year, we're drafting them to be there for a decade.

Seems Ratten will be forward line coach...interesting.

I think your pulling that out of your ass and completely missed what he was saying.

You're really desperate for us not to pick Bryce Gibbs aren't you? I suspect it'll take another 2-3 drafts before the Don's can get some decent midfield quality. Bryce will be at Carlton in 2007. :)

Hansen just had operation to repair torn hip labrum (cartilage that surrounds the joint).
I would say Gibbs is firming as favourite (IMO) as we won't risk no.1 with a ruck that won't be much good to us next year, won't take Gumbleton (got less need for forwards) and maybe mobility concerns over Hansen.

Even if carlton do get Gibbs they'll still be the worst side in the afl. Gibbs needs to be drafted to a quality side to get the best out of him. Carlton are the worst side in the afl and all u supporters know it.:thumbsu:
