Surely the age of Gibbs is a factor, and despite being contracted, ain't worth 2 first rounders.

Pick #13 and a halfway decent young player is a fair and reasonable deal. We're years away from finals contention, its not like losing Gibbs will have any medium-long term repercussions. We must be flexible and try accommodate Bryce and his family's wishes..

I'm DVB, that's my take.
Mate I don't understand this at all.
Sam Mitchell has just signed a 1 year deal at West C...he'll be 35 next year.
Gibbs will be 28 next year, he's durable, he's got at least 5/6 seasons in him, barring serious injury.

In fact, why don't we just bloody keep him?

If he wants to go home and raise his family in SA near the kids grandparents and Uncles and Aunts, that's fine by me.

Only ticked off he informed the club in such a late and haphazard manner.

We honestly aren't very likely going to win a premiership with him and the time left in his career anyway, and he'll probably ask to go home again in 12 months time anyway, when we'd get less for him anyway.

We survived the exodus of Menzel, Jeffy, Waite, Robinson, Henderson and Yarran pretty well, i doubt losing Gibbs will have any significant impact.

People are getting their emotions cloud their judgement as to what's best for the footy club long term.

Loyalty in football is unofficially dead, its now a ruthless business, there is going to be far less one club players from now on. I don't like it, but that's the way the wind is blowing.

So what's the latest?

WC IN: Mitch McGovern
WC OUT: Liam Duggan

ADEL IN: Bryce Gibbs
ADEL OUT: Mitch McGovern, Pick 13

CARL IN: Liam Duggan, Pick 13
CARL OUT: Bryce Gibbs

I like it a lot.
Umm....why involve WCE? We would gladly take #13 and McGovern for Gibbs.

Yeah right just let the contracted Gibbs go off Adelaide for whatever Crows feel like giving us it’s all good Carlton will get over it, then we become the joke of the AFL.....Come 2017 West Coast get into Cripps suddenly he needs to go home to start a family what just let him go? Time to take a stand we can NOT allow any club to screw us over. Unless Adelaide pay the price SOS requires he stays.

You have a weakness in midfield, and you have 6 talented forwards. This isn't hard to understand.
They saw Gibbs kick the ball 72m across the river on GF day. They are planning on playing him at half back and have him kick over the midfield.

Mitch is a WA boy and his brother plays for West Coast. He may have little interest in playing for us but transferring to WA and playing in another Top 8 side would be an attractive proposition for him.

It also allows us to bring in Duggan, who is a Victorian and a talented young player in his own right. It keeps our rebuild on track and adds that immediate midfield depth.

Not surprised at all. These idiots are fast developing a bad rep at the trade table. Only hurts them.

They courted a valuable contracted player in our side and won't offer us anything of value in return.
I am sure that it hasn't gone unnoticed by the other clubs.
Geelong, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Brisbane have all been reasonable.
Bulldogs and GWS in past years.
Adelaide just keep digging.

Home state and with big Bro kinda makes more sense though. I'd hate to get McGovern and he walk out in a year or 2 anyway
Home state, playing with Jez and still at a Top 8 club. Adelaide won't want to offer him up, but it's a much better compromise. At least in this instance they're acting in the interest on the outgoing player.

In fact, under that proposed trade all players get back to their home club.

Moving to Perth may be an easier sell.

I only see the Cows offering that if they have some fear that he may head back to Perth anyway, otherwise 13 and Mitch McGovern (IMO) is a bit overs.
