Agree with all this rubber except the "loyal servant" part.

Servants don't generally earn $600k per year.

I'm not sure Bryce is being that loyal - and there is a "smell" about how this has all developed that I suspect won't reflect well on Gibbs when the whole truth eventually comes out.
Bush telegraph whispers is he's been a nortyboy and given an ultimatum.

Look at arguable the two best list rebuilds in the last 10 years - Dogs moved on griffen, Higgins, Cooney , lake over a 2 yr period, Saints moved on Goddard, McEvoy, Dal Santo, etc and those two have turned it around really quickly
true. above all they got there picks right. thats the most important thing. they also had a number of later picks and were able to get a few good players that way. early picks are great but if you can nail some late picks it can make a massive difference

To be fair to Adelaide, its pretty difficult for them to stump up another first round pick without giving away a required player.

In all honesty,.things would go much more swimmingly if GWS got involved, but they are being annoyingly obstinate.
Say what

Our rebuild started end of 14.
We didn't go to the draft. We traded down our first pick. We didn't seek fair value for players we set free. It we were rebuilding we botched it and the coach was sacked.

I think it started properly at the end of 2015. Put it this way, 2015 doesn't count towards our 66 game rebuild.

Ventured over to the asylum that is the Adelaide board for a laugh. Highly recommended, especially after a few Barossa reds. These guys make Richmond supporters look sane.
Every team's board is like that. Read some of the stuff on here from their perspective and you'd think likewise.

However one thing they are finding to grasp is the 3 year contracted part. They want to pay what they think he's worth. When the fact is, they need what we think he's worth

The 'crows people' are mostly of the consensus of preferring not to get him to overpaying for him so not sure of the pressure there.
I don't agree at all. I live in Adelaide, and the town has gone nuts. If the Crows miss out on him there will be a lot of disappointed South Australians.

Case in point - you yourself are here on the Carlton board talking about it!

We must live in different part of town. Honestly, I know and deal with plenty of Adelaide supporters and I can seriously
say I haven't seen anyone here even close to going nuts over Gibbs. The general consensus is if we can get him without giving up
any of our core future, good, otherwise we're happy to roll with pick 13. It's only the media that are all over it, but that's typical.

They want to strengthen their midfield while Betts and Thompson and Jacobs are still performing. Each one has to be replaced before you know it and #13 isn't going to wedge that window open any firmer.

Thing is #13 isn't the missing piece of our rebuild either.

They say they will move forward with what they have got. Can they overtake GWS? The Dogs are pretty young. Can they match their midfield? It's a risk.
Not a chance. Even with Gibbs.

We all want to pay unders and get overs in return. We will pay overs but I doubt with players - this year and next year 1st with a later pick coming back to us or there abouts. Even though Gibbs (as the thread title suggests) came to us - we want and need him so deal will get done

Let's not rewrite history of how the clubs have traded - Betts is on record as saying he never wanted to leave and was gutted your management lowballed him and then wouldn't budged. Your LM pushed him out. It's not like we even gave him a godfather deal either - Mayne is getting better at Collingwood and is half the player

Jacobs was 3-4th in line and so you lost him for unders ( Adeliade had the same with Gunston) - once again your LM had paid up big for Warnock, had Krueser and Hampson?? so Jacobs was depth

And you won the Menzel trade hands down - the 5 players you got played 87 games this year ( including top 10 b&f with Kerridge) plus you took wright as dfa leading goal kicker 22 games 6th b&f

We have hardly screwed you over the years. Agree we need to pay overs for Gibbs though with his status with CFC and contract position - but lose the chip on the shoulder, not our fault that Betts has gone to another level after your footy department didn't particularly rate him

Turn it up lad, how do you even gauge something like that? Even the hysterical callers to 5AA are mostly saying it's our first or no trade.

Are you seriously saying the Bryce Gibbs would not be of paramount important anche to the Crows? he embodies the hallowed lineage S.Australian footy.
He would be a huge acquisition , Skilled , durable with at least 3 to 4 quality years and a couple of serviceable after, not to mention 1st pick 2006.
The Cows will be highly disappointed if they miss out on Bryce, my advice pay the premium you'll be more than satisfied. He's a champion of our game .
