Lewis has had a significantly better career than Gibbs mate, your kidding yourself if you think otherwise
If you put Gibbs at the Hawthorn footy club and Lewis at Carlton it would be a totally different story.

If you disagree you are kidding yourself mate and other tough guy Internet talk

Two points:

1. As stated yesterday, expecting the Gibbs trade will go through Monday/Tuesday. Also that SOS was doing the right thing, sitting back waiting of an "Overs" offer or at the very least, counter offers from Adelaide

What is disturbing, if the reports are true, that SOS is not taking/responding to phone calls from the AFC. This is bordering on unprofessional and or childish. We have to move forward from this mentality and behaviour , as the professional clubs and the most successful clubs

2. Speaking of professional and successful clubs, now that the Tom Mitchell deal has be done, does anyone still think Gibbs is worth 2 first round picks?
I would still try to get 2 first round picks for Gibbs. Mitchell was out of contract and so Sydney had less bargaining power. Gibbs has 3 years left so we can ask for overs.

Also Mitchell doesn't mean as much to Sydney's midfield as Gibbs does to us.

Sydney midfield: Kennedy, Jack, Hannebery, Parker, McVeigh, Heeney and Mills

Carlton Midfield: Cripps, Gibbs & Murphy......................

Except that's not actually what's happening. It's clearly a journo mincing words because a Bachelor of Journalism at university is easier to get through than a line up for GWS membership sales.

Who is the 'not talking' story for though? Is it factual? Or is it to soften up Carlton fans so we can say we held out for the best deal? Or is it to put pressure on the Crows with their fans fretting over a deal? The not talking story might be spot on, but equally there are plenty of reasons to suggest it is a stretch of the truth.

I know it doesn't seem it to people but Gibbs is a more valuable player than just his numerical performances.

He is an excellent distributor and decision-maker. The sort of player which coaching staff highly rate.

He has the potential for a much more significant impact than Tom Mitchell who is more the "extractor" model

I can't disagree with your points, although I always take the emotion out

1. Gibbs will not be part of our premeirship window, 28 next year, unlike a T.Mitchell
2. He has now asked for a trade, so lets be professional and move him on for an "overs" offer from AFC, when we get it

No one in their right mind would say that Gibbs ins't a quality player. Its like asking Sam Mitchell to play at Carlton for a year, not productive for our medium to long term vision

I just want him out, i don't see how a less than %100 committed Bryce Gibbs is gonna help our rebuild, the kids will step up & drive this group forward starting with Crippa(c) & Doc(vc). How bout we take #13 & Adelaide 2017 1st rounder(15?) and give them Gibbs & our 2017 2nd rounder(24?)?

We haven't refused to talk to Adelaide but what we have said is "do not waste our time" with unacceptable suggestions. We have advised them and Bryce's manager that the onus is on them to put forward a proposal that we will be happy with and then come back to us, otherwise Bryce is staying. We have other things we are spending our time on.

Nothing to talk about until Adelaide put up a fair offer.

Gibbs + CFC Third Rounder in 2017 = #13 + Adelaide First Rounder in 2017.
They can still get Rocky cheaply if they really want two midfielders (but I cannot see how both would fit in their salary cap).

Crows probably need to get a third club involved as a circuit breaker. They need to trade one of their players out to a third party who can re-direct something we are after our way.

Maybe:

Carlton:

Out: Gibbs, Pick 45
In: Pick 11, Pick 26, Pick 32

Adelaide:

Out: Jarryd Lyons, Cam Ellis-Yolman, Harry Dear, Pick 13,
In: Gibbs, Pick 45

North Melbourne:

Out: Pick 32, Pick 11, 2017 third rounder
In: Cam Ellis-Yolman, Harry Dear, Pick 13

Gold Coast:

Out: Pick 26
In: Jarryd Lyons, 2017 third rounder (Nth)
Not bad.

.........or outright shizen.

We also don't know the circumstances. If other media reports are to be believed
Gibbs had given no indication he wanted out and said he was happy as in the final interview of the year.
Gibbs had been in secret negotiations prior.
The Adelaide football club announced the move without consulting CFC.
Adelaide's first approach to Carlton delivered the outcome arrogantly and as a fait accompli.
Adelaide's offer has been rejected.

There is 5 more days and, if the above circumstances are true, I applaud SOS's tactic (if true) of making AFC come to him.

It can't be any other way, can it?
I don't see SOS as being an individual that cares to revisit the same scene too many times.

Why would anyone?

Mitchell was uncontracted.
Gibbs is contracted.
So I guess you forgot the Beams deal?

Perhaps people want to put their money where their mouth is? How about a worthwhile charity?

Anyone that thinks we will get 2 first rounders for Gibbs, without giving anything back, show yourselves. Would be interested to see how many of you exist

Or Perhaps you can name the countless footballers that were traded for 2 1st round picks at the age of 27?

You know, there's only so many times you can blame the footy club for Gibbs being a chronic underachiever throughout his career before that excuse doesn't wash any more.

Assuming (and hoping) that Gibbs ends up in Adelaide, i seriously doubt he will be the 'missing link' that leads them to win a premiership. He simply doesn't have the 'greatness' inside of him to be able to help lead a club to a premiership, and that is another reason the club needs to cut him loose, now Jordan Lewis might be a less talented player than Gibbs, but he has the nous and the leadership to win big games/finals/premierships.

I know what type of player i'd rather have at Carlton. The winner type.

Forget what he means to our midfield, its what his worth, compared to every player in the competition versus supply and demand.
