So I guess you forgot the Beams deal?

Perhaps people want to put their money where their mouth is? How about a worthwhile charity?

Anyone that thinks we will get 2 first rounders for Gibbs, without giving anything back, show yourselves. Would be interested to see how many of you exist

Or Perhaps you can name the countless footballers that were traded for 2 1st round picks at the age of 27?
Beams got #5, #25 and a player.
We would be getting #13 and a pick likely between #15 - #18.
Oh, and Gibbs is contracted for another 3 years.

Two points:

1. As stated yesterday, expecting the Gibbs trade will go through Monday/Tuesday. Also that SOS was doing the right thing, sitting back waiting of an "Overs" offer or at the very least, counter offers from Adelaide

What is disturbing, if the reports are true, that SOS is not taking/responding to phone calls from the AFC. This is bordering on unprofessional and or childish. We have to move forward from this mentality and behaviour , as the professional clubs and the most successful clubs

2. Speaking of professional and successful clubs, now that the Tom Mitchell deal has be done, does anyone still think Gibbs is worth 2 first round picks?
Where are these 'reports' coming from?

You know, there's only so many times you can blame the footy club for Gibbs being a chronic underachiever throughout his career before that excuse doesn't wash any more.

Assuming (and hoping) that Gibbs ends up in Adelaide, i seriously doubt he will be the 'missing link' that leads them to win a premiership. He simply doesn't have the 'greatness' inside of him to be able to help lead a club to a premiership, and that is another reason the club needs to cut him loose, now Jordan Lewis might be a less talented player than Gibbs, but he has the nous and the leadership to win big games/finals/premierships.

I know what type of player i'd rather have at Carlton. The winner type.
Typical Gibbs hater post !

If Adelaide don't want to part with more then the happy meal they are offering, maybe we should add Dale Thomas to the trade?

So Gibbs and Daisy

For

McLovin and 13

This is win win for us

Forget what he means to our midfield, its what his worth, compared to every player in the competition versus supply and demand.
Agree Adelaide can Supply us with a great Deal or we will Demand Gibbs see's out his contract!!!

You compared him to Mitchell, he didn't have a contract so Sydney couldn't Demand anything.

There are arguments back and forth on our boards, as there should be, but there's one thing you can take to the bank - the crap from Rucci regarding "SOS refusing to talk to the Crows" is utter rubbish. He makes stuff up daily.

Using that logic as the Hawks B&F winner in 2016 is only worth a late pick, then Gibbs is worth pick circa #100!

Gibbs has three years to go on contract. It is what he is worth to CFC.
If we get #13 and Lyons is Gibbs replaced? Not ******* likely!
If we get #13 and something of value (either a quality player or quality pick) then we have a chance of replacing Gibbs successfully.
Better to keep Gibbs than lose this trade IMO.

What's wrong with asking fo 2 first round picks? We asked for Cameron Adelaide said No, we asked for McGovern Adelaide said No.

Can't hurt to ask can it.

Show me where I have stated, that we won't get what he is worth/an "overs" deal

All I have stated is we won't get 2 1st round picks, without giving something back

Absolutely we can ask for what ever we like. We can ask for Walker, or Sloane. But we won't get it

WE WILL NOT GET 2 FIRST ROUNDERS, WITHOUT GIVING SOMETHING BACK

1. You have faith in the club and the worth of our players
2. You abandon your support and take the criticism as gospel

So we all agree Gibbs is worth 2 First round picks if we give something back. Happy to give a 2017 third rounder back myself, but will be interesting to see what SOS is willing to do.

Yeah we get that - it's hyperbole. Spend too long in the business (or just get through uni with P1s) and you forget the difference between fact and fiction. Plus, idiot. SO.. yeah.

i think the issue is that Gibbs actually has three values;

- Gibbs value to Adelaide (currently valued at pick 13)
- Gibbs value to Carlton (top 3 midfielder in a struggling team - currently valued at pick 13 + young player with potential)
- Gibbs value compared to other AFL players (who knows - as no player is trading based on this - it's either the first two met - sometimes met half way)

As Gibbs is contracted, our value should hold the upper hand, as he has requested to go to Adelaide, it skews it slightly to Adelaide value. However the impact on us is huge, so rightly so SOS isn't budging. I think Adelaide and their supporters are forgetting the impact it has on us, once they do, a deal will be done that is beneficial for both parties and their current circumstances.

However i highly doubt that will happen. As this stage i think Gibbs will be at Carlton next year. Whether he likes it or not. The club can hire him a full-time nanny if their struggling with the bub. We should have the salary cap to burn

Yep sounds like Arr0w definitely thinks Gibbs is worth 2 first rounders as long as we send something back perhaps a 4th rounder????

Here is a comparison between Gibbs year this year and Burgoyne's year before port received 2 first rounders for him..

And in hindsight Hawks are delighted with that deal.
We all know Gibbs will be superstar at Adelaide as he will have a quality team around him for the first time since we sacked Ratten.
Time to pay - if Adelaide want quality.
