Douglas aside, those midfielders are all young and still developing. Knight & Atkins I highly rate (reportedly Carlton wanted Atkins as part of any Gibbs trade at one stage) and I can't wait for Hampton to get on the park as he is supremely talented. Menz needs to get his tank up to scratch & he is starting 22 each week and Seed is an elite kick, our list is in decent nick.
And Douglas has won a B&F and has been an AA squad-listed a few times too, similar feats to someone from Carlton who wanted to come home in this years trade period...

Your one of the few reasonable posters so i will comment appropriately.

I agree re atkins and knight as they could be come quite good midfielders however i dont believe any of the three will become a pure midfielder and none will become that elite mid you guys need to replace danger and thommo.

Seedsman was let go by the pies due to his kicking being below standard so not sure i agree that he is an elite kick.

Lol, when you talking of shooting, I get this picture of you as Dick Cheney shooting poor old Whittington, mistaking him for a bird. Your aim is similar... ;)
And this is what you think when asked to say something useful.

go run away and hide in the Adelaide boards and contemplate who you will pick up in the 2017 trade period but refuse to acknowledge the weaknesses your club has in landing a big name players that arnt going home.

If you think winning is keeping a good player who won't play another final let alone a grand final, rather than using his currency to assist your rebuild, then good for you.

Adelaide would have lost big time if we swapped 2x 1st rounders for Gibbs. Any sane judge knows this... which is why you are so annoyed the deal was rejected by AFC.

Good luck with your rebuild, whilst we have a real crack at the flag... without Thommo or Mackay as significant contributors... with Sloane, Crouch boys, Smith, Douglas, Knight, Atkins, Cameron, Milera, Hampton, Seedman, Menzel, etc to be our main midfield contributors.
oh kannee you continue to peddle rubbish.

Its proven that trading out all your experience harms a rebuild.

Any sane judge knows that after you make the big statement you lead with your ambit offer and then from your perspective you increase your original offer - i guess that just proves what many of us have been saying - reid and roo are insane and they certainly arnt judges.

you really gotta hope that your injury levels dont go back to the industry average and that even more clubs dont work out your game plan. because if they do then5th suddenly becomes 12th and wont the Adelaide boards erupt then.

Very few Carlton supporters are upset it didn't happen. Our midfield struggled big time and losing more good players would have stuffed up the development of other players.
Exactly ODN. One of the best things that blues have done in recent times was stand firm and its now such a pleasure seeing gibba training the house down.

Now we're all just rehashing stuff what's already been said.
Question, has Bryce done a spot of media for Carlton since the non-trade?

good question and surprised it hasnt come earlier.

quite simple really, his 100 % focus is on his fitness and improving his game even further so he can show the crows what a huge mistake they made in not valuing him correctly.

By the way he looks in fantastic nick and multiple comments made regarding his running times be at best ever levels for him.

Hoepfully injuries dont strike and will have another fantastic year in Navy blue.

I'm sure Bryce's footy focus for 2017 is giving 110% for the CFC like a professional footballer does, not trying to 'show the Crows what a huge mistake they made in not valuing him correctly', what would be the furthest thing on his mind don't you think?

I think thye go hand in hand.

Motivating yourself through the tedium of a long pre season always requires a new approach.

Off course he is a professional however over the years Gibba has never come back like he has this year. For me if i was in Gibba's shoes i would have been annoyed the crows didn't get it done and would now channel that annoyance into extra motivation in having a huge season which is fantastic for us.

From todays Age story with Sam Docherty.

Great to see gibba working so hard and clearly with no residual issues - oh how i wish i could post this on the Adelaide boards.

But Docherty noted the improving depth across the senior list, including the midfield area, and had more bright news for Carlton supporters on how Bryce Gibbs, who sought a trade to Adelaide in October, was faring.

Gibbs, 27, who has a young child with his partner Lauren, sought a move back to his home state to be closer to the support of their families just two years into a five-year deal.

But the now-veteran former No.1 draft pick looks super-fit, and Docherty said Gibbs has attacked the pre-season work with relish.

"He's been great. He rocked up day one and ran some really good times in our testing and came back in probably [the best] physical condition that he's been in," Docherty said.

"As a fellow player, I was rapt with the way he rocked up as a leader of the club … and came back in really good condition.

Docherty said Gibbs had been completely transparent with his teammates and the club about what had transpired during the trade period.

"He was open and upfront about it. He's hasn't got a grudge against the footy club or against the players or anything," Docherty said. "It was just something that happened and we've moved on and hopefully we can have a really big year from him."

Think all you like, fact is that you've simply got a pro who's going to give 110% regardless of who he's playing for, which is a good thing.
I'll say hey to him when he's over in Adelaide over the Xmas break

You have provided rubbish drewie. we have done this before and ive shown u up as being the charlotten u really are. u cant claim as evidence statements from your club - please grow up.

go and enjoy the feeling of having tried to play with the big boys and being rag dolled around. Oh you blokes from regional centers are so embarrassing.

i suggest you enrol dumb and dumber in the new afl course - trading for dummies.
Lol,since when are Carlton 'big boys'? It's not the VFL anymore,in the AFL world Carlton are as close to a nothing club as there is,and their continual performances and decisions reflect this.
Anyway, not sure either club was rag dolled around. Carlton were being greedy and Adelaide weren't that interested in paying overs for a good kind of player who is a long, long way from being great or worth what was being asked.

ah and speaking of regional centers here comes footscray. wont be long before ballarat reaches the outskirts and you can official rename yourselves so that the embarrassment of your history might get washed away.

Getting cocky after fluking a flag, how so typically third world.

Remember and understand this regardless of our ladder position the blues will always be a bigger club than Footscray. Start paying your own way and stop relying on grants from the footy industry like you have for the last 20 years.

There are numerous posts explaining the nuances of this trade so read up and add something of significance.

Hey, someone mentioned Carlton and you have to join in with your usual uninformed obsessive views.

You have no idea what the discussion has been about and have nothing to contribute.

I've read the thread and there is no way Gibbs was worth was Carltons asking and if they weren't so greedy might have been able to draft someone far better long term. Why would Adelaide pay a ridiculous price for an average player?
Or would they have just traded the Gibbs pick for more GWS players lol, gotta love Silvanis ego.

So another post without anything to add. Mate i follow the greatest football side in the world that always makes me happy and joyful. Yes we are going through a lean spell and with our exalted history thats hard to take but we press on, im mean you of all people, if your truly a dog would know about being resilient. I mean its not like you've had a lot of success. However me thinks your very new to the scaggers having jumped on 2015 as u did.

I bet you wont even know anything about the Hyde street band and what supporters did to them?

But to get back on topic my joy is made greater when i read and see how much the man we wanted to keep, and did, is training and loving his time at his beloved baggers.

you have not read our thread.

what are our reasons for wanting what we did? why do we value him so highly? why do think so little of the crows efforts. why was it better to keep him fro our overall development. Actually read and comprehend before trying to engage - unless of course you cant understand?

you've read nothing. all your points have been answered multiple times alas your just trying to lift your post count up.

And when did our list Manager change his name?

Obviously you didn't read it because that isn't the crux of what is being argued.
