Gibbs played a great game though. 26 disposals, 7 clearances (Martin had 6, only Cotchin had more on 8), 6 tackles, and a snag roll.

He wasnt the reason we lost. Nice try though :thumbsu:
And he wasn't the reason you won. So clearly he has no influence on the result.

I don't understand the Gibbs wouldn't do anything argument. With that attitude why bother trading at all to improve your list? Fact is Gibbs is a classy, goal kicking mid. To suggest he wouldn't improve your side is a fallacy.

And FWIW I think Carlton can contend while Gibbs is still there. We have so much talent on our list and a great culture developing. I'd bloody love Gibbs to be the quarterback when he is 33 (4 years away) like Murphy, Boyd and so forth. So if he is going I want overs. If you don't want to pay it fine but enjoy your premiership less rebuild in 4 years.

The point remains. The Crows broke down around the middle and half forward and lacked any decent disposal inside F50. Crouch had 37 disposals (mainly contested) but had no one on the outside to get the ball to.

Galluccis only contribution on the day, was competing in the halftime Sprint.

Which the Tigers also won.
We had plenty of players on the outside. We lost contested ball by 30.

So, yeah - Gallucci affected the result as much as Gibbs would have, which is eff all.

You've been heavily critical of Carlton supporters, SOS and our list management in an incredibly blinkered and subjective fashion for some time. Yet you wonder why this board is stuffed. Righto.
He's not a mod. It's pathetic when a mod is trolling.

It's true the Crows may have missed their chance. It doesn't help when the greatest intercept defender the game has ever seen is on his way out the door...

There's a big difference between having an opinion on an opinion forum (which I standby, I don't rate SOS as a list manager but that's my prerogative), to posting inflammatory remarks the day after a Grand Final. It just shows a lack of class and poor taste given the circumstances.

If the comment was "Adelaide were rubbish and Gibbs could have helped Adelaide with their drive out of defence while negating Graham" then sure, it's a valuable opinion that actually adds something to the discussion- but to make a sarcastic comment/joke regarding Adelaide's 2018 draft pick and Gallucci's performance- just shows that being apparently the role of being moderator doesn't involve setting an example and acting with any class during discussions.

I think you are being extremely petty, the crows window is now. It’s overtly obvious that a draft pick at 14 last year and 17 this year was not going to make the team better within the window.
Sliding door moment, a contracted Gibbs at 27/28 was not a risk for 2 x late first rounders and was exactly where his value was.
Adelaide gave Richmond a sniff from late night n the second quarter and they ran with it. Gibbs would have helped absolutely no doubt in the first half when they just had to put them away.

Gibbs was not the difference between winning and losing yesterday. He would have helped no doubt but the crows lost as they were too top heavy and did not bring the required intensity and it allowed richmond to play to their strengths. If the add gibbs and get another running rebounding half back they will be top 4 next year. I think the game was lost in the head and in the coaches boxand these can be corrected

If he moves to Adelaide he will win one because he is the difference. Or would've been the difference.

Adelaide might've missed their chance now though.
I doubt he would've made any difference yesterday. Adelaide were comprehensively outplayed in the second half.

Adelaide aren't going anywhere. Betts is their only decent player over 30 and is playing good footy. They're also not a one season wonder relying on the draw to get them into the top 4/8.

They definitely missed a chance and are no guarantee to make another GF, but I'd be surprised to see them miss the top 4 next year.

Adelaides list manager just costed them a flag - Gibbs would have been another quality mid to take heat off Sloan and Crouch brothers - decided to go for Gallucci that didnt play when window was open. Tough.

I think their window is open for another three years with Sloan and Walker turning 28 next year. Gibbs easily has another three years in him - he is not the player that depends on his speed he is a playmaker

No Lever, Cameron or Smith next year.

Sides are bouncing all over the place of late, I wouldn't pencil them in for top 8 let alone contention.

I think they will get Gibbs and will threaten again but 2017 might have been their best shot at it for a while. When you can have a ping you take it.

Interesting. We passed on Gibbs and moved 4 spots up the ladder. Carlton kept Gibbs and dropped 2 spots. And we are the team whose progress has supposedly been compromised my the non-Gibbs trade last year.

No Bock, Gunston, Dangerfield, Tippett or Davis either. Lyons left at the end of last year, Thompson may as well have after only playing once this year.

They have an uncanny knack of consistently unearthing players without needing to crash down the ladder. Smith being out will hurt them, but Lez Seedsman came in and has been better than expected. They also have Hampton who missed the second half of the year. Assuming Lever goes, they'll also get something good in return - potentially Gibbs. I also wouldn't be surprised to see McGovern line up in defence next year also, or Keath given a bigger role.

Under estimating their top end which is elite.

Sloan, Walker, Talia, Sauce, Betts, Laird, Smith and Couch brothers are all AA material so can carry load for others...role players will always be role players sometimes they step up to elite sometimes they dont

Adelaide shafted us with Sauce and Betts and will not happen again nor ever again

And both finished the season with the same amount of valuable silverware.
