there are no other teams worthy
We need a big body to let go a big body, no rockliff = we need to keep gibbs

Only other option is Scully
Scully is an outside runner. Good at it but he is not a big bodied inside mid so not sure why you mention him in relation to Rockliff and Gibbs.

Ultimately it is 20 to 24 year olds as ideal age bracket we after to develop along with the likes of young SPS in the midfield for future but also for present to make it easier on those guys Gibbs had always been a must unless someone offered something too good to refuse. Hence Crows got nowhere last year in their deluded thinking we would trade a long term contracted guy for not what he is worth to us.

You expect us to improve out of the bottom 4? 19-22 is almost a lock so 20 as a rough value will do fine
It's what GWS want which become relevant. I seriously doubt they are going to handover 2 highly rated players without receiving a 1st rounder.

Time will tell...

Highly rated???

Gee they can hardly get a regular game in the whole time they have been there!

But as soon as someone else becomes interested they all of a sudden turn into " Highly rated "!!!

Agreed, however if out of contract with asking to be traded and GWS salary squeeze issues AND Devon Smith left out of their last final, you might be surprised we get them for unders like we did with Marchbank and Pickett deal. At this stage I am still wondering what the deal will be myself but starting point I think is expecting we at least give up 2nd round pick for 2018.

One has dodgy knees and the other is out for the next 3 months with a shoulder op after not even receiving a contract offer from GWS. I think you are seriously overestimating their value.

Combine scully and kennedy and they possibly slide towards Gibbs being an acceptable loss, we still need to improve our midfield rather then go backwards this off season.

Not a blight on 2 young players that can’t get into a team that at 1 stage didn’t have a player in the best 22 over pick 20.

Still managed quite a few games in what people think is the most talented team put together. So let’s not pretend they are average players

If they get to Carlton they will be list cloggers though and spuds just like everyone else in 12Mths on here. ;)

Classic BF!

Both played games for GWS this year.

GWS are not going to just give them away like others they have traded to you.

Both are decent players & hardly have career ending injuries... otherwise you wouldn't be interested!

They won't be giving them away, 2018 2nd rounder for kennedy is fair and smith if he comes is worth 38 and a salary dump player

Devon Smith has played 109 games in the last 6 years (ave 18), so he is a regular best 22.

Kennedy played 16 games this year.

They are hardly fringe players of no use.

It is Glass half empty thinking compared to Glass half full.

At the moment the glass is half full for lots but as soon as they change teams it is quickly changed to empty and even more so if they come to Carlton when they are overnight turned into list cloggers and NEAFL players!!

;)

Huh?

Smith is worth a pick like 16 on his own easily
You can pay that for him, he missed 8 games in 2016 because of the knee, was injured again mid year and again just before finals this year.

You don't overspend on players with recurring injuries, look no further then o'meara and hawthorn for your example why.

Piss Off You Troll
Love the way Carlton are going about building a list with GWS reserves players and expecting to win finals

Adelaide & Richmond both comprehensively beat the Giants in both finals and Kennedy & Smith couldnt make their senior's

Not all 1st rounders become gun players and i would say atleast 50% fail

Adelaide has done a great job building and Maintaining their level over the years , Bulldogs have built their own from home grown and Richmond have 6 role players but the main core is home grown.

If 50% of your list comes from other teams off cuts then you are never going to become a top 4 team, Sure you will improve but only to get into the 8 but never to go any further.

Off cuts are off cuts for a reason , Carlton should be concentrating on drafting kids to play their way - Too many from 1 place usually means your getting their rejects and how can you beat them with their off cuts.

Disingenuous or ignorant? Already been told that we have 6 GWS players currently on our list. How much would 50% be?

Also, can you put your views forth on the prospects of Marchbank, Pickett, Plowman and Kennedy so we can check back later for reference? Not all of these guys have been offcuts.

Not sure why it matters where we get the players from either, as long as they help us progress and fit our age profile.

Adelaide have 3 Ex Carlton players, and Richmond had 3 as well. Betts, Jacobs, Menzel, Hampson, Grigg and Yarran before he finished. But I suppose you don’t class them as offcutts as they are in your team. Next you will be saying Doc is no good as he was Brisbane’s offcut

I don't understand how you could actually believe what you just said is true.

The fact you are referring to Kennedy and Smith as 'rejects and off cuts' shows your lack of knowledge.

Townsend and Miles worked alright for you lot, the boys we take are actually wanted by the Giants and not literal rejects. If we got in Ellis or Bolton for example they'd be considered strong talent and good acquisitions, but as soon as they come from the Giants any ex first rounder is a dud.

Think you'd be the last club too talk about "offcuts", flags can be built in many different ways as you have shown.
