So only 1 side was wasting the others time?

If you can't see there was fault on both sides, you are obviously biased.

Good for you that you have perfect SOS...
Yes. If you go and try to buy something that is not for sale and you need to be prepared to pay over the odds and not try to haggle over the price. Crows were in no way mislead by SOS.

If I was the Crows I wouldn't have paid the price SOS set, but that was the price we needed to get for the trade to be worth our while.

People can read through the 9000 posts in this thread if need be, hardly advisable though. You and a few of your buddies turned it into a monumental shitfight after last years negotiations. Good job.
Yes, Blues supporters have all acted so well in this thread.

Pity your superiority complex doesn't match your teams fortunes...

It's not superiority, we retained an important player. Negotiations break down sometimes, clearly both parties had a hand in that. I wonder if you see that as 50/50 though?

I originally stated both parties were at fault (Reid started it with his public presser), but was attacked for daring to suggest SOS also behaved poorly... so guess you are agreeing with me.

Attacked? As in posters from an opposition club debating your opinion? Last trade period was the ridicule of asking price, then the emotive of Bryces family situation. The number of posts per poster in this thread would make an interesting break down. I'll have a look tomorrow if a mod can't do it the easy way.

He stormed out of meetings. Hardly professional.
Don't mean to beat a dead horse here but walking out of the room in response to a poor offer, to prevent it from becoming 'anchored' in your mind, isn't all that uncommon a negotiating move. It's based on psychology and not the bro-science kind.

Anyway, good luck to the Crows with Lever et al, what happens with Gibbs this time round is anybody's guess.

Ottawa Senators, Ottawa RedBlacks.
As professional as Adelaide telling Jake Lever to not attend the B&F or making Jack Gunston return a best first year player award ??
Lever wasn't invited, just like Stringer, was a wise choice with the way he left (Dangerfield was at the B&F the year he left and Cameron was there tonight). Gunston ran home well before the B&F that year and never came back, no point giving a reward to a guy that didn't want to be there.

Not what I heard. No storming out. Just up and leaving because the Crows knew their offers were a waste of his time but they kept insisting on presenting the same type of shit deal. Yeah, I’d walk off too.

Did you hear what’s been said about the Crows efforts with Melbourne? Closing the laptop and walking off without a word being spoken and then refusing to take calls and reply to emails. And this was a response to the initial formal offer. And all for a player who didn’t even place top 10 in the BnF. SOS meanwhile, get deals done everywhere else without a hitch. I’d say what smells here is the way the Crows go about it, not SOS.

Is it a bit hypocritical that Adelaide announced to the media that Gibbs is coming to them last year, yet are not happy about Lever doing the same thing with Melbourne?
What’s going on with Cameron is another example. And they trot out the line “they're different circumstances, as different players at different clubs, so I think it's unfair to make comparisons” after publically using the uncontracated Tom Mitchell’s trade to the Hawks, from a club whose salary cap was bursting at the seams, as a comparison to what constituted a fair deal for Gibbs. Very happy to see the shoe on the other foot with this mob.

Jack Gunston never got the award because he phoned the club on the day of the b&f from Melbourne saying he wasn't coming back. But, I agree that he should still have been named best first year player. Giving it to the next best is pretty pathetic, but we did have Steven Trigg running the club.

Putting aside the bickering for one moment, what do we actually think is going on?

Do Adelaide still want Gibbs?

Does Gibbs still want to return to Adelaide?
I would think Adelaide does want Gibbs, it might be happening behind the scenes so there is no media circus like last year.

Carlton would like to hold on to him for sure with Rockliff and Smith not coming.

I think the price will be too high for him to move to Adelaide

Set the price and didn't budge. Had a contracted, required player and was under no obligation to trade. Was upfront from day 1. How is that unprofessional?
Because he let his ego and emotions get in the way (in response to Reid''s initial misstep).

As you can tell from this thread, it's all about SOS.

Whereas It should have been all about what's a win-win deal for the two clubs.

This should have been do-able because the two clubs are in opposite situations. CFC needs to rebuild, AFC needs to top up a good list. Should've been as easy win-win.
