They are 44 games into a 66 game rebuild - It should be complete by the start of 2019 season with SOS having 4 drafts / Trade periods completed
It should be but we've been lucky that most of our draft picks are bearing fruit the last two drafts. We will hit FA hard next year.

Yeah and thats about the time line that i posted 2019

Just a question for you TODN

If the Blues still have not made finals by the end of 2020 (3 years from now)
Would the Carlton supporters consider the Bolton / Sos era a failure ?
5 years of coaching for bolton
5 years of rebuilding for SOS

Yes. Must make finals by then. The heat will be extreme.

Rebuilding since the 90's like the crows......
Can anyone do a quick comparison of the number of top 10 draft picks carlton have had compared to the crows between season 2000 and 2017 and then look at the number of finals played and won and how many grand finals and prelim finals each played in in that time.

My prediction is Adelaide still want Gibbs. Even more so with no Cameron and Smith and Lever and a GF hiding.

My prediction is Gibbs still wants Adelaide.

My prediction is that Petroro taking over managing will see a deal done smoothly.

My prediction is the price will be somewhere between what Carlton are demanding and what Adelaide are offering.

How many grand finals have we both won since the 90's?

How would carlton fans see this possible 3 club trade.
Lever to melbourne
Picks 10 & 16 & 27 to carlton
Gibbs + Carltons 2018 1st round pick to adelaide

Extremely unlikely. I've said it a couple of times in this thread already... Carlton will not trade a contracted Gibbs unless it is a compelling offer for us, it's really that simple. It's not going to be a win-win for everyone concerned; if Gibbs is to be playing in anything other than Navy Blue next year, what most would consider an 'overs price' will have to be paid.

There is certainly no way we will be including a top 10 (potentially top 5) pick from a supposedly superior draft next year IMO. It would be an emphatic no.

Wouldnt carlton back themselves in to have a better year next year and possibly push for top 8? Meaning next years pick could possibly be around 9 or 10

Yes but only if Gibbs stays.;)
This... and even then it would be optimistic to think we will be looking like playing finals if he stays. Do I expect us to improve and finish higher? Probably. But it wouldn't be a disaster for how we are tracking IMO if we finished 15th-10th. Finals is out of the question IMO, 2019 is when we should start heading that way, but who knows? Things can happen quickly...

Our midfield is so paper thin, if Gibbs goes we would probably finish last, he's that important in many aspects. Throwing Cripps (probably physically ready but injuries and load would concern me) and the young brigade (SPS, Cuningham etc.) to the wolves full time not the mention the pressure and reliance on Murphy would be a disaster and something we will have to be well compensated in order to do so willingly.

There would have to be a Godfather offer for us to give up our first selection next year in this trade period, it just doesn't fit with our plan.

I said at the time that Reid was unprofessional to announce in in the press before anything had been agreed. Also, SOS behaved equally badly.

Fortunately this year I hear they are talking behind closed doors, which should have been done last year... so there is hope all parties, including Gibbs may end up happier this year.
What did SOS do "equally badly"??

Because he let his ego and emotions get in the way (in response to Reid''s initial misstep).

As you can tell from this thread, it's all about SOS.

Whereas It should have been all about what's a win-win deal for the two clubs.

This should have been do-able because the two clubs are in opposite situations. CFC needs to rebuild, AFC needs to top up a good list. Should've been as easy win-win.
Carlton definitely had a win - Gibbs had probably the best year of his career.

So no - it doesn't have to be win-win.

Word is he was spotted talking to Crows officials after his season finished up. That, coupled with changing managers a few months ago to Tom Petroro would tell the story I'd say. Why else would he get a better manager with 2 years to run on his current contract?

On HTC_PN071 using BigFooty.com mobile app
He'd get a better manager because the effwit who used to manage him is now the List Manager at the Crows.

Flag count of both clubs this century = 0

Arguing over whose mediocrity has been better is loser talk, there is only 1 measurement of success.

Is it a bit hypocritical that Adelaide announced to the media that Gibbs is coming to them last year, yet are not happy about Lever doing the same thing with Melbourne?
Sorry, remind me of the paid tv interview where Gibbs announced his intentions to leave Carlton two days after you lost a grand final...

Can anyone do a count of the number of home games each club has played at Etihad where teams get absolutely screwed financially and work out impact on the club blah blah blah.........

Remind me of when the Melbourne list manager announced Lever was leaving while in contract without notifying Adelaide.

Completely different situations

My opinion is Carlton will soften on their stance with Gibbs.

If they pass on Melbournes first pick (lever) then surely the deal will happen.
The Blues should really jump at this.
