I think the thing that Carlton fans are missing is that Gibbs re signed as a free agent in 2014 under Mick and was sold Mick's plan of Carlton's future. Adelaide were all over the shop at the time with draft bans and being months away from sacking Sando. Why would you leave if you believe the plan sold to you?

Fast forward 2 years and the plan Gibbs was sold under Mick doesn't exist. New coach, new recruiters, new plan forward. He has every right to reassess and hold Carlton accountable for not holding up their end of the deal presented to him when he re signed. Money is only one part of the equation when re signing, you have to believe what the coaches and executives are selling as their plan forward as well.

We all know Gibbs is contracted but the key is what he was sold at the time of being a free agent hasn't eventuated and once a player is unhappy and wants to leave it will nearly ALWAYS happen.

As for Adelaide constantly screwing Carlton over, you wouldn't pay Eddie the money he was clearly worth and forced him out the door as a free agent. No screwing over there. And Jacobs was the number 4 behind Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson. If Shaun Hampson was considered better than me at anything other than picking up super models, I would want to leave as well.

Yes Gibbs was a number one draft pick but in 200 games he's been B&F once and AA squad once. Either he's not as good as what Carlton fans are now claiming or your development coaches and the toxic Carlton environment didn't bring out the best in him. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Bernie Vince was a B&F winner, AA squad once and Michael Tuck medalist prior to being traded for a 2nd round pick and going on to win his second B&F with his new team. They both average very similar numbers over the last 10 years.

Pick 13 and Lyons is massive overs. Pick 13 and Grigg, CEY or McKay are probably still overs but the steak knives might keep some of you delusional Blues fans happy.
You're firing off in all directions. All trade scenarios are different, the parameters of this trade aren't consistent with any previous deals and we are committed to getting something of value should Bryce be traded.

Your six paragraph synopsis is irrelevant.

To suggest as a Carlton fan you are happy to retain Gibbs if no trade is done is fair enough, but hard to see Bolton, SOS and co. agreeing with you.
Why? Much of our rebuild is centred on reinvigorating the culture of the place and investing in players who provide leadership and experience. There are pros and cons to both sides.

He is the one changing clubs so naturally he is going to be the one on the forefront. Do you think Mrs Gibbs is going to be on the phone talking to his manager too?

Gibbs is the one being traded so of course he is going to be out building relationships, getting intel and having some general chit-chat with his potential new team-mates.

Yes, people do change jobs often. What's your point?
If she wants to go home then it's going to happen regardless of what over inflated value you and SOS have on his trade potential. Why would he stay and have an unhappy Mrs, kids growing up away from their grandparents all to be part of a rebuild and maybe play finals again before he retires? Or come home, everyone's happy and he plays in a premiership in the next 5 years? Seems like a hard decision

We lost Danger (how careless of us) and 'somehow' managed to get better in the off season. Perhaps recruitment isn't the only way to become a better team?
2 spots, with natural improvement from a number of your players isn't a big deal. You haven't got enough class on the outside, which was exposed in your final against Sydney.

You guys aren't that good.

It will happen if Adelaide come to the party and provide us with what we want. You guys are just as complicit in Mrs Gibbs' disappointment if a trade isn't worked out.

The situation isn't urgent.

You're 100% right. You should be committed to getting something of value for an unhappy player who wants to leave after being sold a plan by a different coach 2 years ago when he re signed and has won 1 B&F and never been AA in 200 games. An early second round pick is in the mail with the bag of chips.

Keep going with the bravado but when it comes down to it he's nominated Adelaide and that ours us in the box seat regardless of his contract situation

So Tom Mitchell in for a first rounder. Younger and similar output to Gibbs. Now you see why all the trade scenarios with us sending crouch or lever are miles off the mark?

Uncontracted, Sydney have plenty of coverage and can't afford his contract.

Yes your rebuild is centered around culture, I would have thought keeping a player who wants to play somewhere else would only hinder that. (not having a crack just my opinion)

Congratulations to Hawthorn who got a good deal for an uncontracted player from Sydney.

To be fair any comment you have is also as irrelevant.

If Sydney just accepted pick 14 for Mitchell then Gibbs would have to be a second rounder this year at best.
Using other trades to determine ones value is such a flawed argument.

For example: L. Henderson (Pick 16), C. Yarran (Pick 19), J. Melksham (Pick 25), T.Bell (Pick 21)

Gibbs is light-years beyond these players in ability and experience. But its not a fair baseline on players worth.

Great retort.

I can't tell if you've been sipping Veebs all day or you're 11.
Mate I'm from south Australia, we drink coopers and not that backwash shit.

Regardless, as I said, your comments, my comments, all worthless.
