are people seriously suggesting 2 first round picks for gibbs?

wow --- first and second seems extremely fair.....id even say just a first rounder and swap of late picks
With a future 2nd going back to the Crows. In reality, without Gibbs we're likely to finish in a similar position next year, and Adelaide are likely top 4. So we're talking a pick downgrade of about 8 spots next year for the Crows, in a addition to their first this year.

Not all first rounders are the same and not all second rounders are the same. It's not as though it will end up 7 and 7 like for Treloar.

Bryce doesnt get injured - he is a Mitchell, Thompson type player that will play in his mid 30s and play well due to his skills and decision making. Bryce was never a quick player.

So I think he has seven years in him... we need him to protect the youngsters in midfield we are going to bring through this year.

Don't see Lyons having seven years of football... footballers that depend on pace with injury history usually end their careers early no matter how good they are or their performance deteriorate too fast after the reach 31 due to endless soft tissue injuries.. Gary Ablett being a case in point.

Jimmy Bartel is 33 and definitely has another year or two in him.
Umm where do I start.

Depends on Pace - Have you seen Lyons play before. He is slow. Pace is his main weakness. He has very quick hands in close and is a quick thinker but as Pace goes he is slow.

Injury History - Lyons has barely missed a game through injury if ever. He just couldnt break into the side despite excellent form in the SANFL.

I'd suggest you'd have zero chance. The one Port player who is truly off limits. He'd cost you Cripps plus a first round so would be a futile exercise.
LOL Cripps + a first round.

Cripps has a heap more currency than Wines.

On a different level

Then the deal is off ...
LMAO. Well that's it then I suppose. Better call SOS and let him know.

You can keep him under duress if you don't want pick 13 and a 2nd rounder.
I think Carlton feels the same way; which is why they basically said he's very much required unless something super sweet was on offer to pry him loose. Don't think there will be much duress should he stay. Player is happy at the club, just saw an opportunity to get the wife & kid back around family and took a shot at it. If a deal didn't get done on the back of a "take it or leave it" offer from the Crows, I'd think Gibbs would be more disappointed with them than he would be with Carlton.

If this negotiation is too difficult to get your head around please let me know.
he's not worth us giving away 2 1st round positions even if we get your 2nd round back

could be the difference between us getting a tall before grabbing Jackson Edwards next year

we can move on to another target or FA instead

we are not that desperate

Deal will get done in a reasonable fashion IMO

ok yes, that might work out...but i wouldnt be banking on you losing ground next year
you might even improve next year...another year under bolton, cripps set to dominate....not sure if Gibbs will make that much difference really

No disrespect but you are missing my point. If the blues are asking for pick 13 and one of young guns and you are offering pick 13 and Lyons and it's not getting done then why keep going over the same ground. Lyons is worth say a mid to late 2nd rounder? Then why would the blues accept a 2nd rounder in the mid to late 30's and throw you back a 3rd rounder in the late 30's early 40's. It is now a worse deal. C'mon mate think before you post.
I am trying to work on what is probably being debated by the clubs not what we all think they are worth. Trying to do a deal between 2 parties requires negotiations with both parties starting at their high points and working down from there. By all reports we are not going to get McGovern, Cameron or Crouch so let's move on. Blues aren't going to accept pick 13 and Lyons type value so let's move on. So what is the next step. Blues have to come down crows have to come up. What do you think that is?
Gibbs is certainly not worth any more than pick 13 and Lyons trade pick. He will be 28 before he plays his first game next season. If Carlton are demanding more, I think the Crows walk away and then they will have a very unhappy player on their hands for 3 years.

So be it, better than handing Adelaide a real shot at a flag on a silver platter.
Gibbs is a higly paid professional and he'll learn to cope.
