Blues describe Adelaide’s pitch at trade talks: “Arrogant, unethical and lacking respect for Carlton to the point of being disgraceful.

Ouch - time to walk away from the trade Crows
This sounds familiar, let me guess, you'd be happy with pick 13, Lyons and Ellis-Yoleman.

Gibbs will be a crow next year I have no doubt. What needs to remembered is there are plenty of deals that were mentioned long before Gibbs was mentioned and are still not done either e.g prestia or Hibbard which looked to be straight forward. It will get done! I think it should be Adelaide's first pick 2016 first pick 2017 for Gibbs and Carltons second 2017

Pick 13 and 2nd rounder (2017) is just respectable for a player of Gibbs talent and durability and the Crows will be laughing all the way to the bank.
It's the bear minimum but this offer may begin to unblock the impass.

Yes that's getting better and I'd almost be prepared to sign.

One thing i think to take into account i think is if Gibbs was a free agent with his record and amount of money being paid the blues would get a compensation pick after their first pick which would be pick 6 so why would carlton settle for anything less, when they have done the right thing by the player and signed him to a long contract. 13 and a fringe player doesn't cut it.

Glad you're not our list manager... Rather just go to Brisbane with 13 and ask for Hanley or Rockliff.

Because he's not a free agent.

It sucks for Carlton but you have a bloke who doesn't want to be there anymore and you have the chance to get more for him now than you ever will in the future. Might as well take the deal and boo the prick next time he plays in Melbourne.

2 1sts is fair since this years is 13 and Adelaide are more than likely going to make the 8 if not the 4 next year when you add in Gibbs to that midfield. Which gives 2017 1st 13-17ish.

Carlton send this years or next years second back.

I understand he is not a free agent but doing the right thing by the player and contracting him long term when we could have left him as a free agent and got better compensation i don't see why we would accept anything less than pick 6 or the equivalent.

It seems you're possibly offering Lyons and he doesn't interest us or we don't interest him.

We're not obliged to add a player to our list because that player is the one you're trying to shift.
My quote was directed at Pinot. I'm not offering anything up, I'm happy if we keep CEY and Lyons. I'm not concerned with what Carlton are obliged to do or not.
Gibbs is at the back end of his career, he hasn't lived up to the standard everyone thought he offered, borderline elite. I think pick 13 is fair, maybe throw in a fringe player or a round two but that's it.

The moral of the story is don't approach contracted players that are wanted by their club and then balk at the asking price.
