It's good that you don't swallow the company line. Supporter pressure plays a big part in turning things around and Carlton has been a boys club for a long time. I think Bolton is on the right track, just hope he doesn't get sidelined by too many of the old Carlton royalty.

I hope that's true and they do get a clean run at it. I'd like to see Carlton strong again as I have a massive soft spot for them from the Motley, Bradley, Kernahan and Naley days.
Take a leaf out of other clubs with great success in building their lists? The Swans just gave up Mitchell for pick 14 with little posturing or carrying on.
Gibbs may be contracted but he's not worth more than Mitchell as a player. If Mitchell is worth 14 then Gibbs for 13 isn't far off his worth in this market.

Well people are saying we're going to have a massive crack at Fyfe. Meaning we're heading back down the sign a star and give up a bunch of draft picks to get them line.

And we were told we're going to build through the draft. Best way to do that is shed assets we don't need moving forward while they still have some value.
We might not have cap pressure but we need picks, picks, picks.

You can't trade out too many of your older players. They are needed for guidance and experience and as developed AFL bodies. We traded out a few last year and we are trading out Tuohy this year as well. The trade will probably be done but I totally understand this not being in our plans. We don't want to be so youth-centric that we end up like Melbourne where we lose so much that we have trouble learning how to win. We were very much like this 2005-2007 and needed the leadership of Judd to kick start us again. In those first couple of years Murphy and Gibbs were disenchanted with losing and Kennedy's developed stalled.
