I hope Gibbs is BoG tonight.

We need him next week.

Not just next week, the entire run home. Getting Gibbs to fire might be the thing that pushes this side into a deeper finals run.

He'll probably be dropped if CEY is available regardless of how well he plays tonight.

It’s a really interesting situation in that this years probably the first time Bryce has had an ounce of pressure on his position. Whilst he’s certainly had a good career, it’s fair to say he hasn’t quite filled the potential that had him got #1 in the ‘06 draft.

Will be really interesting to see how he responds.

It will be, this is a genuine career at a crossroad moment for Gibbs. After all, the first question is does Gibbs have it in him to adapt or scarily, did Carlton make him as a player? The second one is do we need to give him an easier role to get something out of him?

Going to be fascinating, and hopefully Bryce finds a way, even if it is only to justify the massive price we paid for him (which i'm not against even if he doesn't pan out, this is the risk of recruiting gun players).

so Gibbs has family issues and gambing problems that necessitate him not playing AFL. then they require him to play AFL, then they won't.

it's almost as if these scurrilous rumours have no bearing on anything.

It’s weird that anyone could think that his selection or not could be related to anything that is unrelenting and off-field. He may have done a heap of coin, it’s a huge problem among AFL players, but there’s no way that issue has him in and out on alternate weeks over a month and a half. “Bryce, good news, your gambling problem isn’t an issue for us anymore, you’re in.” “Mate, bad news, you went fine and was certainly worthy of re-selection, but you’ve just got to sort out that gambling problem. We just can’t play you this weekend.”

If a guy that’s going as well as CEY, let’s assume, misses due to a better option, then you’re in a seriously good position. As they say, you’re only as good as the blokes that are unlucky to be missing out.

I reckon he was unlucky to be dropped in the first place. BUT, it turns out he was the first in what seems to be a cultural change at selection. Tex may have been lucky to hold his spot, but his direct competitor was being ordinary in defence in the 2s. Gibbs has always cruised, always. I’m hopeful that his best will shine through though. As long as we’re consistent at selection regarding rewarding/punishing form, I’m confident that we’ll see the best of our entire list, not just Gibbs.

I’m glad I didn’t hand back my gold upgrade, it’s back on, like Donkey Kong.

ah but you underestimate the power of secret PM club. there is a secret aztec curse that only they know about which is brain washing the selectors until Gibbs returns the tiki to the sacred temple

Gibbs is soft and that's all there is to it. CEY back next week.
