CEO interference is only executing board direction. This has Chappy written all over it. He’s a fully blown idiot on all things football.

The CEO is more than just a mouthpiece for the board.

In fact if the board gave him that direction he'd be well within his rights as a CEO to tell them that business decisions like that are not their call. If he failed to do so he is worthless as a CEO and should go.

He would be within his rights, but ultimately he’s engaged to implement the directions of the board. His only other option is to resign on principle, he’s not doing that.

They give him macro direction and his role is to implement it on the micro level.

Recruiting a player is a micro level call which the board should have no say in.

Agree, but we’re talking about our board, not what good boards do. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Thommo extension was a board directive. Micro/macro is meaningless, if a CEO is provided a directive they either implement or are moved on/resign on principle. Fagan isn’t the type to stand tall, you can tell by the fact that he only raises his head when there’s good news.

I'd he doesn't stand tall he is a shit leader.

Which is why the hard questions need to come so we can start mounting pressure to move him on.

Move him on and the board just replace him with someone just like him. The board is the problem, Chappy is the problem. Bankers have no business being involved in actual business.

Trigg was not someone involved in footy dept decisions though

Trigg’s views on players were slightly higher in the pecking order than the cleaners but not by much

Are you sure? Our structure under Trigg’s reign didn’t have a head of football. My gut feel has him balls deep in all matters football.

I’m not so sure about that, Trigg would have had his nose in everywhere.

I asked him about Gibbs and his response was he wasn’t worth the money and his good season coincided with his contract year.

I think he might be just a sook with no heart, and he can't accept the fact he's not in our first choice midfield. Were better off not playing him at all. No room in a team environment for people like that. No heart.

What a bullshit comment.

He was almost best on ground vs Melbourne and played a very critical role in shutting down a prime mover in Oliver to only get dropped for doing what they asked him to do.

No wonder they don’t give a stuff if that’s the message getting sent.

Pyke: you need to improve your defensive game.
Gibbs: cuts Oliver out of the game. Crows win.
Pyke: Gibbs, you’re dropped
Gibbs: WTF!!

It must be Mark Waugh Indian bookmaker.

I think they bet on Geelong to open the bowling and Gibbs was the informant.

I thought Gibbs was a quality player. I watched him and Murphy carry Carlton on their shoulders time and time again. Was really pleased to go all out for him.

Nek minit, we’re making potato salad. WTF?
He was good for us last year.

A tagging role and general defensive action are not the same thing.

I thought so too. I was expecting him to explode ( in a good way) this year, thinking he’d be all settled and comfortable with the club. I still think he’s a classy player, and I’m still hoping all is not lost but it’s not looking good.

Never wanted him. He had plenty of poor games at Carlton aswell. Even booed by his own supporters.

He lets the whole structures down with his lack of effort. Cannot play again.
Reid has traded in some shockers the last few years.
