I’m a bit over our senior players getting dropped and then talking to the media about hard private conversations they’ve had with the coach.

How about shutting the **** up and earning back your spot.

We had a fair few of these soap opera moments last year too

I wonder if it’s all the players fault, as the names change but the story seems fairly consistent

I reckon its the culture we’ve developed through our selections and our loss of players.

We’ve rarely dropped players due to poor form so when it happens they whinge.

Then given our difficulty in holding players it empowers them to mouth off.

I don’t think we heard Rockliff, Watts and Motlop whinge when dropped.

How hasn't one of your lot not assassinated Sam McClure yet? The snivelling little f***stick dedicated his gutter radio show tonight to slagging off Adelaide

How haven't you blokes assassinated Barratt yet? Think everyone would happily turn a blind eye to that flog getting clipped.

I’m not sure. There seems to be a lot of discontent with senior management and how they go about things

Different players, same complaint just makes me a little uneasy

What show? Wouldn't mind some salty tears

He was the biggest flog piling in on us all last year. In fact ever since Gibbs came to us after Sam declared Gibbs was a one club player

"I remember some comments from my exit review with Don Pyke and a few other coaches that really stuck out.

"I can remember those comments and don't want to say them here, but I remember what they said, and it drives me to prove them wrong."

So you expect them to pat him on the back and tell him what a lovely guy he is as he deserts the club that gave him the opportunity through the rookie draft? Hmmmmm

By the sounds of it a few "home truths" did him good.
Our players are delivered Home Truths by Don Pyke and then talk to the media about it, either implying or outright stating they disagree

That sounds like mission failed?

It’s rare to have a manager capable of both giving really tough feedback, but also doing it in a way that the employee takes it on board rather than rejecting it. There’s 5 Mark Neelds for every 1 Phil Walsh.

Sounds like something we used to call "man conversations" tbh
Players constantly have their tyres pumped up by their coaches no matter how they're playing. Even criticism gets dished out with some sugary positives so that they don't feel bad.

Gotta keep the player:coach relationship intact. Gotta keep the player's confidence up. Don't want them to feel too down either with all the concern around mental health.

The notable thing about Walsh's "man conversations" was that it was specifically a point of difference from the norm.

In essence a truthful conversation.

As opposed to conversations where tact is an artform.

Are our players unable to read between the lines? Do they need to be clunked over the head with the laptop during their review meetings and told point blank You're going to be dropped if you keep doing this, dummy.

Yeah, well forgive me if I go with the coach over a snowflake player.

I listened to the entire thing. I've never wanted to call a hit on someone so much. Would not even listen to reasons, just that you can't have millions of dollars "wasting" away in the SANFL

didn't matter that Jenkins had been playing poorly, because Tex is too, and he cannot fathom that Gibbs has been in bad form

Sam McClure is borderline psychotic. No wonder most media outlets don't want to know

I come in peace. Posted this on your board at the time of the trade:

Mean this respectfully as I like the crows - but wtf?!

That's the sort of shitty deal we pulled in the Laidley years. Hell I'm sure we're still capable of it.

Hope you cash in bigtime with Gibbs because that's a huge price to pay for a player whose club wanted out.

Bloody Carlton now hold 3 first rounders too... dudes...'

Anyway commiserations, for your sake hopefully you can bump these this thread in the next couple of years when it pays off (no troll).

Annoying the way it's turned out. Thank god Carlton aren't a Hawthorn who'd have made you bleed with how well they'd have used everything they milked out of you.

Fingers crossed your death ride extravaganza proves a lot more satisfying.

Nothing confirmed just gambling rumours. Either way we cant un carlton him, trade him plus one of Jenkins/Walker to get them off the books.

That has been gaining momentum with the added part that the debt was paid off by a wealthy club supporter. Hard to know if there is truth to it and probably a hard one for someone to report on in the media.

Even if the club came out and denied it you couldn't believe them anyway.

There has been clearly something that we don't know about but may be as simple as an injury the club wants to keep in house.

Hmm. Don't know what is true, but that scenario goes very close to salary cap rule breach.

First year we had Gibbs we had an injured midfield.
He could basically do what he wanted.

He is being held accountable.

Definitely isn't a loss yet. Gibbs has plenty to give. He needs to follow instruction and do whats best for team.
Hopefully he can or it will be a bust. Yep, fingers crossed.

Carlton took De Koning and Lochie O'Brien.
Carlton couldn't make anyone pay, terrible list management.
