Roast Bryce Gibbs

Many of you are stating that you don’t think Gibbs is worth the cap space of between 600-800k a year

Would you be willing to give him back for a 4th rounder and pay only 100k per year of the remaining 2 years of his contract.

Frees up some cap space for a guy playing SANFL

Would be humiliating but I could see us being interested. This is the end of the road unfortunately.

If there's a bright side, at the media have now stopped the "why isn't Bryce in team" BS since his insipid perform against Geelong
I think the form “exposure” there set the tone
I have been critical of Gibbs very early on this year
Didn’t care for “most” of his SANFL efforts
At the same time I have empathy for him
The selection Yo Yo is our own clubs fault

Conflicting fixtures between AFL and SANFL have been more than a little inconvenient, not just for Gibbs

True. Vhaluus said he was a B grade player in a poor side. Not worth 16. Not worth $600k.

Seems pretty accurate now, unless he gets back to his best.
Seems pretty accurate now, as in present tense. Wasn’t accurate last year, and still yet to be accurate for the next 12 months.

We have seen a whole host of out-of-formers at the beginning of the year turning it around eg. Tex, JJ, Betts.

Why and on what grounds can anyone know for sure Gibbs is done, unlike the trio in the above?

I'd do it, most here wouldn't.

Club definately wouldn't as that would be admitting a mistake which we never do.

Well not all, Rucci is still beating it to death.
Personally, I don’t give a rats tossbag why Gibbs is or isn’t in the team, be it form, personal issues or an internal issue, the fact is he’s not in the team and is out of form.
For someone like Rucci to be demanding to know the reasons from Pyke is laughable......it’s none of his f***ing business or anyone else’s for that matter.

What people are demanding to know, is why Rucc feels unsafe to come out of the closet?

Good on you for guessing it “right”. It would have been more right if he actually flopped it last year, which would be the year of more relevance to your opinion regarding the trade.

He did flop last year.

He finished the year outside our top 3 in the B&F in a year our best were destroyed by injury.

He finished lower on votes per game than a player who played his first ever AFL level game last year.

The flop was just less obvious because the entire side struggled.

I'll also note that one of my major criticisms of the trade, other than him being B grade rather than A like some claimed, was that his age meant he was likely to fall off a cliff long before his contract ended.

I get my fair share of shit wrong, Dog just dug up a post of mine from a few years ago where I wanted to delist ROB for example... but through luck or skill, I nailed my call on Gibbs.

Done. Time to salvage what we can from the situation.

Gibblets 'I'm coming home'

When does he take leave on "Mental Health" grounds....as Beams has.

Think it'll happen soon, no way Crows can delist him if he does that or the media would destroy us.

If he claims mental health we can't touch him and he keeps getting paid.

Perhaps you have put the smart posters on ignore?

Vhaluus for one, certainly not the only one, identified that it was a bad idea, for the exact reason it proved to be a bad idea. Which is that his supposed elite skills that would complement our inside mids did not exist. And therefore he provides very little we don’t already get from Sloane MCrouch BCrouch Greenwood CEY etc.

It was obvious last season. 12th in our B&F on votes per game was poor for a player who was that expensive and with limited years remaining for us.

Oh I certainly wasn't the only one. Quite a few other posters shared my sentiments, I was perhaps just one of the loudest ones.

I personally think the club will look after him. There will be no malice between the two parties.

Reid was his manager at Carlton. My take is he wanted him at a better club hoping Gibbs woukd get over his issues. Hence so desperate to get him here.

Our club would have known full well what his issues were.

Need to remember the Gibbs family (as is Reid) are part of the broader Footy family and they look after their own.

Him finishing 4th in a BnF in no way can it be considered a flop, especially in a first year coming to a new club. If it truly was a flop did you roast him end of last year? Did you notice anyone given him a roast post/thread last year?

You made a good call that it’s a risky trade and we might be overvaluing him. Though not you nor anyone can know for sure his Carlton form can’t translate to better form at the Crows.

Would he remain an outer like last-year Thommo 2017? Or would he regain form and improve like a JJ 2019? The questions are yet to be fully answered.

I’m having a hard time following the “issues” being talked about with Gibbs. Which are official facts and which are rumours/BS?

Can you summarise what are the official issues, that you know or maybe links?

Nice try. Now eff off.

PS - thanks for a top two pick.

We paid more for Gibbs than we got for Dangerfield.

Dangerfield went on to win a Brownlow in his first year at the cats.

Gibbs couldn't even crack top 3 in our best and fairest and like the rest of his career, failed to poll well at all in the Brownlow.

FLOP.

You can ignore the points number at the end and it’s still obvious we paid more for Gibbs than we received for Lever
Not really.

We gave one very good pick for Gibbs, swapped two good picks and two mediocre picks.

We gave up Lever and two mediocre picks for one very good and one good pick.

Forget the points. Put the picks in front of you and see which you would want.

Yeah, but he slings shit on everything. Law of averages says he'll eventually be right about something. No one remembers the dozens of incorrect things that are said.

Like most of us have no idea if Gibbs has big issues off the field but I believe most of his on field issues over last few weeks are from lack of confidence and that was mainly created by Selection panel dropping him early in season as at that stage he did not deserve to get dropped before many others.
Then he come back and played a very good game up in Brisbane (which I attended ) to be dropped again .
So these reasons had to be personality clashes with Pyke or Campo or upsetting one of Campo boys Dougy and Mackay.
If they were off field suspend or give week off for personal reasons to help not destroy his name or confidence.
Come finals time we will need skilled players like him.
PS No I am not his mum or do I even know him or his family.
