When BG plays down back he turns into a pitching wedge. 25m low risk chips is all we see.

I want to see him play somewhere that requires him to be more attacking

Gibbs and Murphy, and some guy called Judd, will be the cornerstone of our midfield for 10+ years. Add guys like Simpson, and we really will have an A+ midfield in a couple of years time.
 
bryce's disposal is fantastic - possibly the best at the clu,. except for the brainfart out on the fulls - but he doesnt do that often. he just needs confidence, and that will come with time.

He was trying to be far too cute. The kickers were barely missed kicked he just left 0 margin for error

Gibbs will be fine mate. Don't often see Gibbs make a mistake by foot.
 
He does well, but didn't hit the big targets last night, just seems to be a minor link in the chain mostly. Little chips and hand passes, unlike a Judd or Murphy who pick out significant targets. He just needs to lift the eyes sometimes.

I agree . It's a fine line but I think , for the long run , it's the right thing at the moment for him . After all he is being trained for the long run .

I like Gibbs , he has size and skill and when he learns the game he will be a gun . I'd love him at Collingwood .
 
I think he needs to learn to carry the ball and deliver inside 50, show a bit more creativity. I like to see him take some risks, wouldn't mind if he was caught holding the ball taking guys on. To be a star player you need to take risk and at the moment he doesn't.

i understand what your saying, and we all love those type of players, but Gibbs like Hird & Buckley (the type of players that we can sort of compare him to) were never ones to take on the opposition. They were the generals so to speak. They would be the ones to set up the plays, do the hard things and get their own footy and distribute it with poise and class. I dont think that taking on players was their forte and thats the was i invisage the type of player Gibbs will turn out to be.

I don't think you can compare a 18 y/o to Buckley & Hird and be taken seriously and I also disagree with what you are saying. Both Hird and Buckley were very good at carrying the ball and delivering inside 50. They also both averaged more than a goal a game.

I'm not saying become David Wojcinski and take on 5 guys every time you get the ball but being more aggressive and getting forward to more damaging positions is something he definitely needs to work on in my eyes.

I'd like to see him play less Joel Bowden like and more Giansiracussa in style.

Murphy is taking a step forward.......careful you don't miss it, or end up with stupid posts like this thrown back at you.
 
going into the 06 draft Gibbs was touted as a once in a generation player. There is no limits on how good this kid can be. The thought of him and Murph teaming together over the next 10 years makes me salivate. Just a bit of patience Blues fans and we are ging to hav our A+ midfield. I am going to hav so much fun serving it up to the nuff nuff's on bay 13 once he starts tearing it up.
