Will this Carlton spooze-fest continue for as long as Gibbs gets 25+ posessions? If so we're in for a long season. Plenty of good midfielders can rack up 25+ for months on end, without warranting a 400 page thread on the main board.

I'm not going to disagree with you mate. I just think at this stage, stats alone make him look a little better than what he really is.. eg Like I said, I'd take Murphy in a heartbeat over Gibbs at this stage. Without players like Murphy, Gibbs types are not much use.

Yes, the in and under players are considered the best in the competition along with key position forwards.... if people can't accept that they don't know the game.

Appreciate your efforts in trying to be constructive, but have to disagree here.

Your either under rating Gibbs inside abilities, or over rating Murphy's. In terms of doing the hard yards, contested possessions, clearances, tackling and so on Gibbs is at very least equal in all categories, superior in most.

The game plan has obviously changed a little for Gibbs this year, and we are channeling much more play through him. For mine this is detracting from some of his excellent defensive aspects, but I am sure the net benefit is there. His ability to influence a match up forward, down back or in the middle is profound for a kid of his age.

Don't really care about whether people consider him elite, or where he sits compared to Selwood. All I know is I wouldn't trade him for any other player in the league at this point in time.

It's just you all know we are comming and want to talk about it.Not our fault nobody cares about the Cats.

what a pissweak response, you get pwn3d!!1 and then have a sook about the stats, lol@you. You are canning something you clearly have NFI about.

also noted this morning that Voss talked about going head to head with Judd-Power and looking at stifling his lieutenants like Murphy and Simpson, noticed he didnt mention Gibbs

seems the common theme here is Gibbs is used as the release man out of defence and opposition coaches are happy to allow him to run free to play that role. They cant all be wrong too, gibbs hurt factor is not nearly as much as you bluebagger batty boy's like to think...

Haha classic example of the typical BF poster. Loses an argument, so because he has nothing to counterclaim, just comes out with the typical response such as "you got pwn3d." with providing no proof to back it up. Face it mate, your shit stats site has no credibility, and you know shit all about bryce gibbs. I, alongside several other posters in this thread, have successfully picked your arguments to pieces repeatedly, yet you still stupidly keep coming back making yourself look like an even bigger fool. Try Bay 13 where they welcome the level of intelligence you represent

FWIW Gibbs efforts deserve all the credit and kudos he gets because he plays in a star studded midfield with the game's premier onballer (Judd) and Marc Murphy, in addition that others like Kade Simpson and Richard Hadley have always been getting a lot of the pill. His perpehial vision and kicking skills are simply sublime ...

I think murphy is better as well. Does anyone else think this?

They are different types of players. Murphy will kill you with a flash of pace and skill. Gibbs will kill you by always running to the right areas to provide an option and then kicking it 50-60 meters to hit the leading forward on the chest.

As good as Gibbs has been this year, I think Murphy has been our best player so far.

Probably. How about Judd?

Murphy still looks like he has a lot of improvement as well. Same with Gibbs.

Judd's been good, but not as good as Murphy has IMO. Not only has Murphs improved his kicking, but he's still winning the contested possession, running hard and kicking goals. Only two games so far, but at this moment, I'd give him the nod ahead of Judd due to his impact on both games. But that really may well change deeper the season goes.

I'd love to see how they go against Sydney up in Sydney, if they can continue to perform well against better quality sides...

One could argue the case for Richard Hadley being out best so far. Absolutely in and under and providing the grunt work to allow Judd and Gibbs to run freely. Hadley has been outstanding IMO. :thumbsu:
