So after all of my criticism of Bryce Gibbs, i am posting this thread to say Well done Bryce, fantastic start to 2009, his performance against brisbane was fantastic.

He looks set to become a star of the game for the next 10 years.

I think we have found the new michael voss and nathan buckley for the next decade of football in joel Selwood and Bryce Gibbs, which is going to be a blessing to watch for all spectators.

You are funny, I cannot believe you were critical about a 18 year old kid, which he was 2 years ago and only just turned 20. But hey each to their own.
 
who cares if he will be as good as every player mentioned. He will be Bryce Gibbs champion footballer in his own right. It hasn't even begun yet. He would improve any team in the a.f.l instantly and would be a walk up start in any 22.
The kid had to play his whole first season as a half back flank/back pocket type player which he did brilliantly. In a team that would get the crap kicked out of them at least once a month or so.
I just read somewhere he is only contracted for one more year(2010)? Is this true? With the vibe i'm getting though he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I watched all 3 of south australias under 18s matches, saw alot of bryce before he was drafted, and from what tallent i saw, i was expecting more than he did.

this may be a little harsh, i just had a very high opinion of bryce before he started due to my previous knowledge of his abilities.

I am not saying he didnt perform well, i am merely saying that i was expecting more is all.

he has had an exceptional start to this year, i am expecting him to still be a fantastic tallent in the decade to come.
 
Firstly drop an "l" from your version of talent. Second, thanks for your kind words regarding BG. Lastly, we no longer have to cop the condescending platitudes of opposition supporters any longer. Maybe for the last few years but those days are just about over. Check your footy history - we condescend to you lot, not the other way around. :thumbsu:

I can say whatever i like on big footy, it is a free sign up website, and you are not a spokesman for carlton, nor anyone, so stop writting like you are regurgitating words from a senior position or off club officials, your a nobody mate, and your words are nothing more than the opinions of a nobody. and the last time i checked relevant football history, Geelong was the most successful victorian club of the 21st century, and carlton has been the worst, so your arrogance is backed up with nothing but a recent history of failure.

yepp, check history mate, cuz im pretty sure it says Carlton has not beaten geelong in roughly 7 years or more, and they got a kick up the ass from AFL officials for cheating.

It is supporters like you, that are the reason Carlton is known for being an arrogant club.

Never really rated Buckley that highly. I know the media keeps telling us he was a star, but the fact is he led a side who failed to have any success over his long career, and he wasn't exactly popular among his team-mates. A good player - yes, but not close to the same class as Hird and Voss. Oh, and before I forget, thanks for the Round 1 percentage. :)

It read:

Carlton - 16
Geelong - 7

That'll do me tonight for reading history. Now, go back to Bay 13 where you are far better suited.

you also make a valid point, althought done so rather over agressively due to parrots comments, Yes Gibbs does have a long way to go in his football career to be considered a star footballer, where as Selwood is currently almost at this level, But in saying that Gibbs is a year younger, by the time Gibbs is 23-25 years old he has the potential to be a top 10 player in the AFL, whether he will be as good as a buckley or hird is a question mark, but the potential is without a doubt their, but to say he will be as good as hird and buckley for certain is rediculous, but no one is doubting the potential is there to make it.

I am looking forward to seeing how Gibbs goes mayby with a tagg and a bit of attention in the midfield this year second to Judd, it will do his development the world of good recieving more pressure with the ball in his hand, I still remember when Ablett first started recieving taggs in his third year, he often struggled at first, but after a while he learnt to shrugg off his taggers, and he has excelled off like a rocket since then and has not looked back.

Actually you can't say what you want on BigFooty. And more to the point while you are in the Carlton board you need to show respect for the Carlton Football Club and the posters of this forum.

Calling us cheats and arrogant is not a good move.

And for your information the only nobody in this thread is you!

yes i can speak my mind, and it is a fact Carlton cheated, The AFL penalized them for this, it was the reason Carlton got draft picks taken off them, for cheating a calary cap, so yes Carlton are Cheats. So yes it is a good move, as it is 100% correct.

and iff you look back to my original posts, all i came on here to do was discuss bryce gibbs progression, and i get a barrage of arrogant carlton supporters posting crapp, either they have difficulties reading and processing information, or their mums didnt bring down the right sandwich to their basement for lunch while nerding away on their computers, or they are just pure loosers.

Carlton, you cheated for a premiership, and this is a pure fact, the AFL caught you red handed. in the 21st century, Carlton has been rather pathetic, and i dont quite think 2 wins is "back".

if you are going to be arrogant... at least be be arrogant over something that is a decent achievement, not jumping over the moon over 2 wins, because For 6 years now, Carlton has been the clowns of the AFL.

Clowns have no right to be arrogant, the only recognition carlton deserve of recent is to be laughed at.

Your club is a long-term joke of the AFL which is experiencing one of the few short-term purple patches of your clubs unfortunate existence and still manage to choke on a certain flag.

If you're in the mood for history why don't we talk about your greatest player who has a 'habit' of sharing rooms with young girls with short life expectancies. What a legacy.

You've managed to f*ck up the majority of your grand finals appearances for some time and you come in here like you have some sort of wisdom to impart cos you won one this century? Last time I checked the Lions were doing better than your mob as far as flags go this decade.

(going by your atrocious spelling and use of the english language) how many premierships have you watched your beloved handbaggers win ? you've seen them win one and choke in another, nothing too flash there. posters like Thy have seen Carlton win more grand finals than you've had boyfriends.

Since the AFL has become fully proffessional Carlton have been the Clowns of the AFL, before this doesnt count for much, as teams were amatur and everything was unproffesional, the competition was a joke.

Since the competition has become structured, fair, and proffessional, Carton have been the clowns of the competition,

Since the AFL went proffesional, carlton football club has struggled to cope, they have cheated to win a flagg in 95, which is their only real success, and it wasnt even done properly, where as Geelong won a flagg in 07 without cheating, and it was the greatest grand final winning margin of all time, one for the record books.

Carlton has spend a good 5-7 years sitting right down the bottom, being a shoe in win for teams looking ahead on the fixture.

Geelong has only once finished in the bottom four in the past 15 years, the next lowest they ever finished was i believe 9th in 2006.

So In carltons time in a proffessional competition, they have cheated to win a premiership, and spent 7 years in the bottom four, just shows that they are a real joke to the competition, and that they can not handle the proffessional environment of the afl the way it is run today.

Where as Geelong on the other hand, have won a record breaking premiership win, made the finals numerous times, and never once bombed out.

Geelong have been a far more successful club than carlton in a proffessional competition, where as carllton could only perform when things where amateur, as they have struggled big time when the competition went up another level.
