Ch7 in big trouble if Fox footy are bringing their own commentators in for Friday night footy from next year. We all know which one we’re picking.

This does raise the question of who does Fox think is their A TEAM for Friday nights. They should 100% differentiate from 7’s bufoonery and go with a straight caller, smart special comments who adds value and a boundary rider if even needed similarly only chips in when needed.

For me it would be someone like papalia or bennet as the straight caller, dunstall as special comments and boundary rider, well tougher one to choose from but maybe montagna


But thats the thing. People have different views. But bufoonery v straight calling should be the aim.

The umpires are the turds not applying the rules there.

Whether it was play on or not (debatable imo), the umpire didn't call play on. BT was sure he did, coz he literally doesn't know umpires signal time at the end of quarters then proceeded to bang on about it for a solid minute going into the halftime break.

No idea how he takes the paycheck with a straight face to be honest.

This always drives me mad. He spends so much time forensically analysing things, but is almost always completely wrong.

Any incident within 30 seconds of a siren seems to be matter of life and death too, as if we are incapable of remembering anything from the half an hour that preceded it.

Read any game day thread though and that’s what a lot BF readers do.

Example: North v Coll: great game to watch, high scoring, the Roos put on a great display for the first half but then Collingwood hauled them back in. Disappointing result but I was also really happy to see us play like that. Gives you some much needed hope.
BF: that was definitely a 50, north robbed etc etc. we weren’t ‘robbed’, we got tired and the more experienced team at winning pipped us. It happens.

So you can see why the media do it because punters do the same. Game day threads are so boring I rarely read them as they are just full of people whinging about umpire decisions/non decisions. What a negative and boring way to watch a game.
