My query is where the genuine improvement comes from? Moore will get a lot better. Grundy has some improvement left but is already pretty good. The mids are what they are. Who else? Unless another 4-5 players really take a significant leap, their ceiling is 5th-6th.

GWS, Geelong, Richmond and Dogs would be shitting themselves against us in a final. Now, that's not saying we deserve to make them or will, but we match up very well against number of top teams.
It's 4,714 days since the Bombers won a final. None of those teams will be worried, except the Tigers who are I think the only team to be waiting longer.

7-up, so 4-5 losses to go before its curtains for Bucks.

Needs to cut the cord with the Pies in any case to truly develop an independent identity, but shouldn't be lost to player management somewhere in the AFL.

Collingwood just have no direction in general, just in absolute limbo - not sure how much a new coach would change.

Do they think they're good enough for a flag or are they still in a mini rebuild?

To me it looks like they've built a list good enough to finish 9th and bottled the entire thing. Full reset required.
This. Destroyed a premiership side for this. Hilarious.

Coll always beat geel, this year included.

It's just such an even year. Pies are a breath away from being 9-3 or 8-4 and there would be no discussion about bucks. They are clearly on the right track
It could be argued that the Pies have been the most consistently competitive team in the league this year, given that we've been level or leading at some point after half time in all but one game (against Carlton), and have an average losing margin of just 13.71 points.

Yeah, you can say that almost isn't good enough, "he's had enough time", etc., but it would feel extremely harsh to be making a big show of sacking Buckley at any stage of this season. At the very least he'll see out the year, and either walk or not be renewed.

Given the effort and intensity that he has the players playing with, if his heart is still in it at the end of the year, I would be tempted to give Buckley a two year extension, to allow him the opportunity to get some reward for effort with this group of players. As we've seen, it would only take a few extra things going the Pies way here or there for them to have had one of the better win-loss ratios to this point of the season.

The team lacks polish, but the effort is unquestionably there, and (despite the "shit bloke" narrative that some like to push) Buckley has certainly never "lost the players". They play hard, as a team, and I think that effort deserves to and will be rewarded with a finals berth sooner rather than later, perhaps even still this year.

Please, tell us more about this premiership side he "destroyed".

Don't forget to mention how many retired as Magpies, that 10 players from the 2011 GF side were 28 or older by the time the 2012 season began, and the poor-to-middling results that a number of ex-Magpies have had at their new clubs.

Go on, we'll all wait while you do your research.

No, what makes you say that?
Your pitiful attempt at a troll.

Collingwood has been the second best form side in the competition in the last 6 weeks.

Our two losses have both been by under a goal and our biggest defeat all season has been by under 4 goals.

You need to get out and get a clue instead of reading online forums and the HUN if you wanted to understand Collingwood and Buckley.

Lol everyone has patches of form. No one views the pies as anything close to 2nd. Just like the fact that we beat GWS doesnt make us flag contenders.

**** Off.

So we just won three in a row and then you decide to bump this thread after a 4pt loss. We were 4pts from being in the 8 right now and Buckley would be vindicated (at least for now).
5-7 is passable for the moment... whilst we are playing decent footy and still in touch with the 8, surely it would be fair to give him to end of the season before calling for his head?

You've been on BF long enough to know the answer to that question, unfortunately.

The question is Bucks has got the Pies to a reasonable level with the quality he's got but can he take them to another level?

I don't think the Pies have been a disappointment this year. They've had their patches like most sides but as has been said they've been pretty competitive. I think the Pies will give Bucks the tools he needs such as some more talls and he'll get another season or two.

Bucks going nowhere. The boys keep playing like today they will come home with wet sail and make the 8 comfortably. I really find it amusing that the bulk of the people on here and the media get some bizarre maybe some sort of sexual jerking off like fix when discussing weather Bucks will get the flick. FFS . get a life. Its right on boardering mental illness levels. GFY'S

tbf his comment that he won't have job in 2017 if they miss finals has left him open for the vultures.

So what. people say all sorts of shit they wished they never said. Buckley would of been under extreme pressure at the time he said that. The bloke he been hounded down like some low life criminal. 1 thing for sure the bloke has class and he constantly shows up fukwits in media like barrett robinson and ralph and the trash that that get there say on here. If its not at collingwood so be it but i would love to see bucks taste the ultimate success to see his smirk on that day would be the biggest FU to you all

Collingwood had 16 blokes who had played < 100 games out there today.
Equal with GC and Brisbane.

So Bucks has clearly gone too young with the list and he is partly to blame for that
BUT
Considering the list he has - he is actually coaching them pretty well.

I'd give him one more year to see what he can do with a slightly more mature group next year. But by golly he needs another genuine key fwd to help young Moore out. He cant just leave Moore there to fend for himself.

Kitchen sink at Sam Reid.

I don't think this side has enough talent or the coaching to be a genuine threat so I would prefer to hit the draft with a new coach. We f***ked up by getting so many players that suck at using the pill well... oh and also forgot to recruits forwards.
