Honestly, who would want to coach Collingwood?
Their fans are almost worse than Richmond fans, and they've spent the last 25 years promoting themselves as the biggest and best, so anything short of a 10 goal win is greeted with undue scrutiny. It is the worst job in footy

I don't get it. For selfish Dream Team reasons I watched him closely when he started out and he seemed to not only accumulate the ball but generally use it well and even bob up with a few goals. All from a kid. Thought he'd become a star. What happened?
Sidearse picks up cheap possessions across half-back and does those annoying chip kicks that fall a few metres short of team-mates, putting pressure on them. Coasting without much pressure from the VFL players or coaches, needs a kick up the arse (pun intended).

No surprises at Collingwood's performances this season. They're just not a good team and fans and members are fed up at being served the same old shit again, both on and off the field. Another nothing season of finishing around 12th - not crap enough to bottom out, not good enough to seriously threaten finals.
As much as Buckley is adored at Collingwood, the results are not there. So thanks and goodbye Bucks.

If we had a decent small defender (like Marley Williams:(), our back line would be praised as one of the best in the league I think because those small forwards are the ones who have really killed us this year. Gray and Neade yesterday, Johnson, Fantastia and Garlett are some who have beaten our tall back line this year. Goldsack and Maynard truly fly under the radar, as has Dunn; a good shut down small would do wonders for us.
Marley Williams was and is garbage.

The backline hasn't looked this stable since Heater was traded.
Dunne has been a great addition. Goldsack is playing great. Maynard is a bull. When Sharenberg gets another season under his belt he'll be a great player too.
Backline is miles better this year compared to when Williams, Brown and Frost were coughing it up left, right and centre.

I reckon Buckley is lucky that his team steamrolled the Hawks after a terrible start last time.

I know we love to ramp up the drama on BigFooty but the fact collingwood fans booed the team off the field at quarter time is something very few coaches have survived.

That wasn't based on the one quarter though, it was a long time coming.

If our board has any balls at all his contract won't be renewed, if it is it proves our board are Eddies hand puppets, FWIW i can't see Bucks resigning like he said he would, he'll need to be sacked, although they'll make out like he resigned.

He was probably our best player against Port last week. Has been a bit down at times during the year, but I don't think he's worthy of being dropped, nor would it improve the side.

Yeah it was based on a lot of pent up frustration. A loss to collingwood on that day would have seen Buckley thrown out the door within minutes of the final siren I reckon.

If they simply don't renew his contract, is any big "we sacked him/he quit" song and dance even necessary?

Collingwood are trapped in that 8th-14th zone like Richmond was for so long

Not renewing a contract is being sacked, i'm just saying they'll make out like it was his idea and the board reluctantly agreed etc etc.
I'm just questioning why any big statement and ensuing media circus is necessary.

"His contract hasn't been renewed. Thank you for your service."

No further comment, that's it.

But is it necessary?

The writing is clearly on the wall. The team has done enough after the first few rounds to let him coach out the season - in the hope that somehow the positives we have seen in spurts can click into consistent 4Q efforts.
If we stay were we are on the ladder then he is clearly gone at the end of the season, it is irrelevant what we call it. (Personally i would love it if he spends a couple of years in the media/elsewhere then comes back to the club in another capacity).
If we somehow make the 8 from here then no-one can deny that he deserves to stay on.

The difficult decision will be if we finish 9-11th just a game or so out of the 8. My heart would want him to stay on (unless we can convince someone like Clarko to come across) but my head tells me that this will just lead to more of the same and it is time for a clean break and move forward with someone else.

I get the impression that he is going to be better with someone else than his so called family.

Try another option because he is clearly wanting to achieve success for his wordliness.

get into the saints or well whoever else.. he has a brain which whirls around and therefore knows what he can do.

someone else other than collingwood.

I read your post on your board about Pies fans and the booing..........I was at the game and I didn't hear any booing.

What part of the ground did you sit in and hear it?

Was sitting in the mcc on the 50m line and could hear plenty towards the end of the quarter when collingwood were kicking backwards a lot. Wasn't coming from nearby but was echoing around the place.

Then when I went home and watched the replay you could hear it loud and clear.

Haven't personally witnessed anything like that before

Interesting didn't hear it myself but I might have to re-watch the game now..........I always love stories with happy endings! :)
