My dad said it to my brother and myself, we simply laughed it off, knowing football more then the old man. But to hear it on here too is very unflattering.

Your dad probably heard it on SEN too. Journalists get these things wrong more often than not, let alone SEN callers claiming inside sources. I can get on the phone to SEN and just say that "I have it on good authority that Eddie forced Buckley to keep the captaincy so they wouldn't have to take the captaincy of a Clement/Shaw/Fraser and give it to Judd when he comes to the club" quite easily.

How many rumours did we hear about Buckley retiring in 2005? Or even Eddie resigning and saying his farewell in the locker room of ANZAC day? Mick Matlhouse retirement rumours anyone? These were started by journalists and they were still wrong.

Load of crap. He would either not play and annouce his retirement or play with the intention of playing on. If his body is not right to play then he would not get a game. I dont mind a little bit of sentiment in footy but not when the season is still on the line.

If bucks feels he is some chance of getting through the season or getting up for atleast 1 game he is not one to stop there. He is the type of bloke who would leave no stone unturned until have is convinced he can no longer go on.

Imagine the media's reaction. The Herald Sun front and back page, the stories, even if its true, Eddie and Bucks would hold out until the very end when it just isnt a secret anymore. Otherwise, no one will say anything.
