okay i know it is very early and injuries are looking bad but malthouse has one thing buckley doesn't seem to have and that is motivation. the boys are not looking motivated on the field one bit and this is a big concern, i'm not saying get rid of bucks i just think if this continues by seasons end we should really consider getting mick back.

before you judge this you cant say that last night if malthouse was coaching we would have still lost by 10 goals because i doubt that quite alot, mick has a habbit of getting the best out of his players and bucks just ain't doing that right now.

alarm bells are ringing and its round 3, nathan has changed the game plan to one the team is incapable of playing, go back to the old structure and see how that works because clearly teams have worked us out already.

this season is looking disgraceful already!

I don,t think we should be blaming Buckley just yet we have had the worse run of injuries you could ever imagine, after Ball,s terrible injury some of our senior players need to have look at themselves and see if they are pulling their weight.

Don't know - Malthouse didn't seem to fire anyone up when playing Melbourne in 2010. He certainly didn't fire anyone up in the 2003 GF, or the 2006 EF for that matter. I recall Carlton giving us a 100pt thumping back in, what, 2000 or 2001? And he certainly didn't motivate anyone during the great Millenium Game of 1999/2000!! Now there was a Malthouse disaster in player motivation right there...:D

Or, sometimes s*** happens.

I think it's time we started smashing open skulls with hammers and feasting on the goo inside.

Well OP, Mick tried inspiring the boys with a speech before the grand final. Then again at 3 quarter time.

How did at turn out?

I think these players have been rotting inside for longer than most of us are willing to admit. Lazy footballers who think they can wn games with 10 minutes of good football. Been doing it since Round 1 2011, and it hasn't stopped.

Remind me who our coach was when this disgusting trend started?

I concur, some players need to learn how to play a full quarter, let alone a full game.

I'm not too upset with the result (apart from Luke Balls knee), I'm settling in for the season, and hopefuly the players will show some pride next week.

I like Buckley's coaching philosophies.

But with the success the club and playing group has had under Mick they still look like his team.

It's a real intangible where with that different coaching group it is hard to recapture that same intensity and fight we saw from this group in previous seasons.

These are the types of things that differ depending who is looking at them

I haven't seen any of the things you see.

So who is correct me or you?

2nd paragraph encapsulates it perfectly it is still MM,s team if that we had not had so many injuries I would have sent a few back to the 2nds to see if they are willing to put in there, the injuries are hugely disapointing but they have been beyond our control it is some of the players attitudes that is the hardest to accept.

Getting stuck into Buckley is very unfair. New coaches take time to develop, just as new players do. There's a lot to learn, and I reckon the turnover in assistant coaches is just as important in terms of the coaching panel coming up to speed as the senior coach.

The attention should more correctly be on the succession plan, and again, it's too early to judge that. But rather than criticising Buckley as a new coach, the better question is whether the experienced and successful Malthouse should have been shown the door. It was a brave decision - a little bit like asking Sir Alex Ferguson to move on 10 years ago. It's the board and CEO who are responsible for the decision, and that's where the attention should be. That said, it may also prove to be the correct decision in the medium to long term. It was always going to be difficult short term.

So - time will tell. And judge the president and CEO on this one, not the coach.

We are currently in a very unique situation - Changing coaches when the club was going well - a year after a flag and right after a grand final appearance.

Geelong went through it last year, but in their situation the playing group probably felt betrayed by thompson and it probably galvanised them somewhat.

our situation on the other hand, malthouse left, not on his terms. He still had a good relationship with all at the club, he had a way of doing things and nearly every player on the list has never seen it any other way.

Buckley comes in with massive shoes to step into. Some of the players may like him, some may not. most players in our 22 probably liked malthouse because he nurtured them from more or less being rookies or outcasts into a premiership side. Buckley hasn't earnt that respect of the playing group yet - at least not as a coach.

It is possible that players may underperform, subconciously, due to this reason - IMO buckley is well within his rights to give them the flick.

In hindsight maybe not the best timing to do this when our premiership window was wide open - but some things have happened this year that could have probably stopped us winning a flag anyway. losing 3 players already to ACL's. Losing a couple of other experiences players. all of a sudden that's a quarter of your list that's either been turned over or made unavailable.

give buckley time to mould the side into how he wants it, either through tinkering with tactics and selection, or through list changes.

our core stars have many years left in them so if not this year, hopefully we see more success in years to come.

under normal circumstances Buckley would be given time, Mick was because we were dead last when he took over, so there was only one way to go.

The difference in this situation is a case of "if it aint broke".

Bucks inherited a premiership quality side and in a very short space of time has turned it into a bottom 8 side. We dont have a snow balls chance in hell of making the finals the way we are going.

I have no doubts Bucks would be a very good and capable coach, but unfortunately at the moment he is a victim of timing.

p.s I also think the turnover of assistance had a massive impact as well.

Welcome to 2012 it's a bottom 10 this year :thumbsu:

For some perspective the Kangas have made the Cats look as ordinary as us to half time.....

Cats said that last week they were stuffed after their match with the Hawks. Im not giving the kangas as much credit as they should be getting.

Why though?? The Blues have received no end of praise (deservedly so IMO) yet they came against us off the back of an 8 day break ours was 6 (Kangas 7 Cats 6), we had 2 bench rotations for 3 quarters (Geelongs only worry ATM is Mackie with a split lip) and we were playing without our best inside mid, FB, CHB and 2 best forward crumbers (the Cats are missing Scarlett).

I'm just sick and tired of knee jerk reactions after two losses to teams that WILL finish top 4. Everyone outside of Collingwood is hoping and preying Buckley fails because they just don't like him, why on earth should we not be supporting him fully?...

FWIW the Cats will prob win in the end anyway because they're nowhere near as decimated as us.

Doesn't look like they will get up  Even though the cat's don't have injuries per se, they look physically tired.

We were stuffed as well from the get go yet your making excuses for them before the team you support, it just doesn't make sense. So much of the post match criticism has been hard to understand....

Our slide started around rnd 16 last year or thereabouts...we have continued on in the same way but add 3 knee reco's and if Bucks isn't the man..then why didn't Mick get us a 2nd premiership last year..we are all dreaming if we think we are still top 4 material...we were lucky to play in a granny last year...so yeah Mick stay where u are mate..you're doing just fine:D
