There is something special about this year. I can feel it in my bones!
I'm beginning to wonder too.

We all take it for granted now that we dominated in 2010 and were a cert for the flag all year. But in actual fact, Geelong were a powerhouse that year also and it was only when we smashed them late in the year that I truly felt we were favs.

This year, it's similar bc we are starting to play great footy but Hawthorn looms as an insurmountable obstacle (I think we can take Geelong and Freo seems to be dropping off). You think "surely we're not good enough yet" but when it comes together, it can do so FAST. And similarly, when a team drops off, it can do so fast also. I think Hawthorn are peaking too early. I think Mitchell's injury will really hurt them. And I think Buddy's absence will be felt when the whips are a'crackin'

I will never forget '70, we were absolutely awesome that year and smashed the scum twice in the H&A before beating them soundly the third time, qualifying for the GF.

Come GF day the Pies were unbackable raging favourites, by half time we had the scum battered and bloody at our feet.

What happened in the final half is the stuff or history sadly.

NO TEAM IS UNBEATABLE . . . EVER.

I keep telling my Hawthorn mate that they are peaking too soon. I am joking though....

You'd have to say that to this point Hawthorn look pretty prime for another flag. That's hard to deny and with a bit of luck, totally within the realms of possibility if not absolutely likely. What always brings hope though is that were it to happen, Hawthorn would not be the first team to ever be derailed by any number of possible distractions or issues beyond their control. Wishful thinking? Of course it is but the record breaking Collingwood team of 2011 says Hi!

Love ol' Moneybags! What isn't immediately obvious to the casual observer is he is a big, fast unit.

A bit fumbly under pressure, but makes up for it with manic 2nd and 3rd efforts, and hard as f***** nails when it counts. 6'4" and 92Kg of high speed freight train, puts fear into the hearts of every half-back in the game and generates more scores from pressure tackling than any stat will ever show. Oh, and also kicks 60m with ease, if you don't mind.

A toast to The Sack.

Criminally underrated on this and every other board. It may be that he has to be shuffled around to accomodate our new personell next year but I can't see our need for a hard charging tank lessening anytime soon.
