Watching the Coll v Bris match I admired the way Buckley gathered possesions by the boatload. But if the player standing him also gathered possesions plenty what use is it. I saw him shout at one Coll player after he had the audacity to kick the ball somewhere else but to him. Should Bucks keep tabs on his tagger? Bucks I think gathered over 35 posessions but Scott gathered 27 don't they just nullify themselves out. From memory of the match Bucks seems to spend an long time by himself and away from the packs?? am I wrong? probably but please feel free to tell me where.

Bucks is a champ!!!

He could well have left the club a few years ago but did not care about the money that he was offered elsewhere because he loves Collingwood. You can never question his efforts and he may sometimes get a bit angry at his teammates at times, but it maybe because of his love for the game. And also may have been in a better position that time you saw him shout at the Collingwood player... I cannot remember.

By the way, those 27 touches by Scott were not nearly as effective as the one Bucks had. I did not even notice Scott. Also, it is not Buckley's job to look after the tagger. Buckley creates play and can read the game real well, so there is no need to keep real close to his opponent.

The biggest problem with Collingwood is in the midfield when other players go missing. The only other help he had on Sunday was from Burns.

If Buckley can get a lot of possessions from the centre-forward then he is devastating. However if no-one else is providing support in the midfield then he tends to drift towards centre-back where his possessions are far less damaging.

Until Collingwood get some decent in-and-under type midfielders like Anthony Stevens etc, they will struggle to match it with the good sides and Nathan can't be used where he is most dangerous.

During the first 5 games we were getting excellent service from O'Bree and Adkins etc, therefore allowing Nathan to push forward.

If Nathan was playing for North or Essendon I think he'd be even more productive.

I have to admit, and it pains me to do so, but Nathan Buckley is a champion in every sense of the word.

The only problem is that he plays for a crap team, if he played for North, it wouldn't be Carey that everyone thought was the match winner.

North Melbourne Football Club does not have room for big heads. Nathan Buckley chose not to stay at North because he wanted to play in premierships for a successful club. Apropos, Bucks would not have fitted in at North.

Buckley was never at North, but apparantly he had made a verbal agreement with the North administration that he would go to North after he finished at Brisbane. However, when it became apparant that Buckley was leaving Brisbane, the Collingwood administration made a bee line towards him and signed him up.

It is true that when he signed for Collingwood, he said he joined them because he wanted to play in finals and win a premiership. Well, if he stayed in Brisbane, he would've played in finals (and he could've been that extra player to have helped push the Lions to a premiership) or if he went to North, then he would've been a premiership player.

In the end, Buckley a chump or champ? Well, I wouldn't mind seeing him change his stripe from black to royal blue, so to me, he's a champ.

At the time that he left while disappointed, the then Brisbane Bears admin stated that they had a replacment who was better coming through the ranks.

Voss sure showed me something in this game, head to head I used to think Buckley no worries. Now I reckon there is nothing that seperates them, except unfortunatly that Voss seems to have chronic leg problems.

Both deadset champions.

Shinboner,

It has always been my understanding Buckley trained with North before going to Collingwood, hence my inference he failed to stay at North. But no he was never on North's list.

They guy is overrated! He gets easy kicks, does nothing hard, and his disposal is overrated - sure he kicks hit far, but accuracy can let him down.
He is nowhere near Carey, not even close, Carey is by far and away the best, on a level of his own, then next down would be Hird (Id forgot how awesome that guy is, he is a freak!) then the crawfords and Harveys I guess.
Those players are match winners, not recievers like Buckley and Bradley.

Fatso, you inept piece of FAT!!! Lets look at Crawford, 1) he is a champion player but 2) he wouldn't have won the brownlow last year if Buckley hadn't missed six games because of injury. Harvey:- absoloute champion but doesn't seem to have a huge impact on as mant games as what Buckley does. Hird, while he is a great player, he is an umpires boy and will always be seen in a good light. Now lets look at Carey, he is a great player, all be it a very dirty one, but I'd still love to have him on my teams list anyday. Finally for Bucks, he also is a champion, what a load of crap saying he is overrated that would be like saying Essendon this year are a very overrated team. Get with it!
