Garry Lyon just said that Grundy and Witts were just good honest toilers,yet only last week Grundy was being hailed as a future star and one of the best young ruckmen in the game.It makes you wonder about people when they make statements like that.

Someone queried that and he corrected himself. I think he misspoke.

I think it was Hutchy said "Grundy is a bit more than an honest toiler" and Lyon said "Yes, that's true". It was quick, he was in the middle of trying to make a rhetorical point about Blicvas and I think he just over-reached with a common term and then immediately agreed it wasn't quite what he was trying to say.

There is nowhere near enough accountability for Jurnos when they get things wrong. I am surprised in this day and age that at the end of each article, they aren't forced to put in a disclaimer along the lines of "This is the writer's opinion and as such shouldn't be relied on as fact."

Interesting that Pickers publicly called out Mark Robinson on his false reporting today.

Very Good Point - They write what ever they want but as you say with no Accountability

I would like to introduce a star or percentage system similar to restaurant reviews so you can see what level of service and reliability a jurno is giving you. Hopefully this would deter them from making wild calls as their credibility would take a hit each time they get it wrong. On the flip side it would also acknowledge the decent and accurate news breakers.

The term "lazy" is used because he's paid to provide quality journalism to the masses. Discussing the selection of White, in the context of our list and our structures, is not quality journalism as he's a selection forced by necessity. If Moore (playing forward) or Gault were banging down the door in the VFL and we were still selecting White? Then there'd be an article.

We can't be 'lazy' supporters because we're not paid to share our opinions and supposed expertise, but it doesn't make the discussion any more relevant or interesting.

Bard's post above provides an excellent response. My take on this is that Buck's sees 'lazy journalism' where the journo in question trots out the standard line or popular view, without a deeper analysis or appreciation of the situation. Bucks called Robbo on this, and did not want to participate in a discussion at a superficial level.

I suppose its also fair to say that Bucks used this to try to shut down the discussion on White or Cloke, in a more sophisticated version of the classic MM diversionary tactic.

We, like Robbo, have no idea what KPI's White is judged on. You can't tell if a player is performing well just by watching him.
