I know we have a thread on this on a weekly basis. But the Ox just asked bux if he will play again this season nathan said that he is at least 4-5 weeks away BUT there is a chance that he may not play again this year as his left hammy (not right which was the original problem) is not getting any better at all. Notice that i underlined this season as bucks didn't give any indication of finishing up this year. How sweet would it be if he went around next year. Very doubtful but my god would it be awesome. This hammy news is not promising at all, and as much as it hurts me to say it, the pies should get used to playing without our hero sooner rather than later.:( :( :( :(

Why would Buckley retire at the end of this year?
Thats just the general concensus around here on BigFooty. Doesnt make it any more true.

I wouldnt be suprised if Buckley played again next year, and no one else should either. He takes care of his body, and it is fine.

Robert Harvery had plenty of hammy problems, he didnt retire. Neither will Bucks. Whether he plays again this season or not, he'll be there again next year.

The only way Bucks will retire is if we win a flag this year and he is a part of it.

I can't see Buckley going passed this year to be honest boys. He's hammy's are shot, and at 34 turning 35, with his injuries continuing and durability declining (Harvey keeps going), it is highly unlikely.

It seems unlikely. His mind is right, his body isn't. Would be tough after a full year off even for him.

Relax, bucks will be back!
Let the guy get himself right, let him take his time. When we get that top 4 possie this year, and play finals that's when we'll get bucks back.Just in time to pull off the biggest surprise in AFL history.
The pies play weagles 2007 grand final.......The pies win it for bucks by one point...Bucks retires having achieved everything one could achieve at AFL level, becomes the club legend and Chris Judd is disgruntled with the way things have panned out with the eagles in 2007 and decides not to renew contract but instead sites collingwood as his new home.
Collingwood then win back to back to back premierships ,2008,2009,2010.
Nice dream hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Buckley's hamstrings arn't normal. Unfortuneatly he is one of the few players that have a predispostion to hamstring injuries and with the force required to play AFL, it may take a while for his body to be prepared enough. He's got 'hamstring trauma', which is not surprising after all his years of kicking a football. He has also got back problems which i guess could be related to his hamstrings. Surely collingwood have got the best doctors they can down there and if they can't get it right then not many others could. By taking all these weeks to recover; this a bad sign, but hopefully he can get over it and play the year out.

buckley will be back for sure. Its unlike him not to come back. His love for the club is too large and because of this he would never let a season slip past without any contribution.

I to cant see him going passed this year... Not with this injury which doesn't seem to be getting better and he has upped his media commitments which I read as preparing for life off the field. Hope he proves me wrong but thats just me thoughts.
