He's been over in Perth for a couple of years, he has a real furture in Coaching and it would be great to see him coach the club one day, and having a legend back at the club coaching the midfield would be fantastic for little Gaz, Corey, Ling, etc...

Is Budda Chance of coming back at the of the season and become an Assistant Coach??

Yes Peel suck badly. They are the worst team in the WAFL. Lost to my teams by 10 goals. I got buddha to sign my cats top after the game seemed like a good bloke. I dont think he has much of future in coaching after Peel

He did alright last year when they won 5 games (yes, that is a good year for Peel), but has slipped again this year. The problem with Peel is that nobody really wants to play for them so they have no established players. Every player who has talent there is young and gets drafted (eg. Wells at the Roos) or is old and past it (Derek Hall did alright there over the past couple of years but has retired now). It's pretty hard to win games when you have no decent players, it's kinda like Carlton is at the moment except without Fevola or Stevens.

Wont return to the club as long as his brother Steven Hocking is on the match commitee. They don't get along very well. Even when they played together they didn't talk to each other.

I've always wondered why that was.

The girl Steven Hocking married was from a family that the Hocking's didn't get along with. Steven went against the wishes of his family to marry her and hence has not had any contact with the family since.

I thought it was a 'concrete fact' that Garry 'Buddha' Hocking would never return to the Geelong Football Club under Mark Thompson's reign?

For the record, i do not believe for a second he is the man to coach the club, even in an assistant role. He may have some brilliant ideas about footy, and he might be extremely footy-smart, but i think Geelong's problems encompass a helluva lot more than just a lack of tactical nous on the field. Something which Buddha might not be aware of and able to control. Though I am starting to question Thompson's ability to do so anyway.

Cheers.

I don't know the details, but Hocking went for a job as assistant coach after retiring at Geelong and didn't get it. Although he was one of the few truly great players I've seen in the blue and white hoops, perhaps the simple fact is he just can't coach.

Down the track though, I see no reason why he can't.
Other than the fact that he has shown virtually nothing in the coaching stakes.

I don't want the club bring in past players purely for sentimental reasons.
