Really stupid is all I can say. I don't think he should be suspended - the legal penalty is suffice.

I don't think i would either, i chose to speed i'd live with the consequences i'm a big boy.

If you kill someone you'll live with the consequences. They won't.

What a complete loser. AFL will be really pissed... they have TAC ads while the footy is on after all, stuff like this and the Steven incident make them look so stupid. But this is especially reckless, what the hell was he thinking? Buddy needs a serious wake up call, this points to some moronic sh*t going on in that guys head.

Shame on him for being human and making a mistake.
nob.

On topic: I'm of 2 minds, yes, he's broken the law and will be punished by the law, therefore any further penalty imposed on him by his employer feels a bit "double jeopardy", but he is in a very high profile position, getting payed handsomely to represent the AFL brand so he does have a responsibility to be on his best behaviour at all hours. Is there a clause in the standard AFL players contract binding them to be upstanding citizens, or is it a case of, to quote Charles Barkley "I'm not paid to be a role model. I'm paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court.".

Yes, Buddys' been bloody stupid, but is it between himself and the law, or does he have a legal or moral responsibility to his club and by extension, the AFL?

I think the big thing in this is franklin admitted he was wrong

Footballers tend to hide behind thier profession and admit no fault
As others have said, shouldn't be suspended, but should be forced into some sort of community work, which is more then the average penalty for your average joe
