They'd still have to confirm the second strike publicly.
This one's myth-busted.
Do strikes reset after a period of time?
The only player named publicly as part of this policy was because police were involved.
No way the AFL will name a player, ever.
You reckon they'd save that for Easterlol
"He's still a little while away"
nek minit
"ZOMG JESUS ROSE!"
Except that time they named and suspended Travis Tuck.
You’re a bit slow, the Police thing was Travis Tuck.

The police thing was Tuck's third strike according to the AFL, who named and suspended him.
You are getting dumber by the minute son.https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/tucks-three-strikes-end-in-12game-ban-20100831-14fja.html

Yeah, what I said. You’ll catch on one day. In the meantime you just keep pretending that Buddy has never had an issue. Oh, except for when his medical records were sold to a journo.

The policy was updated in 2015 (a Swans poster pointed out earlier):
http://www.aflplayers.com.au/article/illicit-drugs-policy-changes-unveiled/
Interventions and consequences are as follows:
1st Detection: $5,000 financial sanction (suspended) and compulsory counselling and education programs.
2nd Detection: Four match suspension and $5,000 sanction imposed. Club notified and the suspension confirmed publically.
3rd Detection: 12 match suspension and $10,000 sanction.
It's such a crock of s**t. There are loop holes to get around strikes but even if he was on drugs every night and failing drugs tests every morning, the AFL would not say 'hey mate, sit out for a month.' They love the Swans he's good for their success and ticket sales and interest. Why do people assume the AFL are corrupt in so many ways yet allow Buddoir to sit out and get punished?
Obviously he isn't on drugs every single night and the innuendo is probably a little over the top. There are players who are gambling addicts and alcohol addicts and have way worse issues, but fundamentally the idea the AFL have this respect for rules and adhere to them and make him sit out is ludicrous.
The only one of worth is when he sat out the finals series. When he did that weird interview with Richo and his hair was all grown out it was obvious he was... not right.
How is still paying him but not allowing him to play going to stop that? They're not sending him on month long stints to rehab. If he had a genuine issue they'd have to send him away for a long time and this is a corporation (basically) who let the Cousins s**t slide, let McCartin continue to play, etc. They don't care if someone ends up ****ed on meth or with life long issues from concussion, why would they suddenly be liable because someone allegedly likes drugs? No doubt the AFL is corrupt and would sweep drug use under the carpet, but...repeatedly sweeping under the carpet drug use by one player would open them up to a massive law suit for failing their duty of care to that player.
